    24:00 Jill and carlos are actually much more fleshed out than leon and claire.
    What do you know about leon other than he’s a rookie cop and claire is chris sister? Jill’s apartment section alone in the beginning shows about jill much more than we ever got about leon or claire.
    The developing relationship also between jill and carlos was great and showed personality more than any cutscene for claire or leon in remake.

    RE3 was always more action focused than RE2, it was a part of the original game so its not suprising that the remake is more action focused too. I don't really understand where Blessing is coming from considering I've played the original RE2 and RE3. I don't think anyone who knew Nemesis will be surprised by this remake. It's never been as amazing as RE2, and it's always been a bit more action focused and less robust as a whole. Plus, we've already had the huge overhaul on RE2 remake, so nobody should have expected much of a change from that game last year to this one now. It's less scary because it isn't trying to be as scary, it's that simple. If you're new to the series this is bound to be jarring.

      Plenty of people think 3 is better. Only issue is it's shorter. 2 was my least favorite of the first 4 games. Didn't have many puzzles, Mr X was never that scary. G was okay but Nemesis was cooler. The second half was great with final forms and areas. But 3 was like nothing but the last half stretched out. Was great. Plus hunters better than lickers. Remake however, improved EVERYTHING making it the best overall even though It'll never be as unique as fixed camera. And so it's not quite as special. And 3 had to do way more but didn't. That's the issue.

      quality over quantity, i loved re2 because for 12 hours it was a top quallity game all the way through, where as say something like AC Odyssey i enjoyed alot at first but grew to hate because of its padding and forced longevity. Tired of every game trying to be a 100 hour mega open world rpg

    • @Ocean5ix
      @Ocean5ix 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It depends really. Just so you can understand my point of view, where I live a minimum wage is 1200$ but because of taxes a game costs 250$. See where I'm at? I don't think RE3 is a problem because I'd replay a lot like RE2 but ignoring how short a game is isn't smart in some cases. I tend to over-analyse games, sometimes I spend a week going back and forth and gathering info on a game to know if it's really worth it.
      I want to spend on two games right now but there are 5 that I'm interested in. Nioh 2 (already got this one), Doom Eternal, RE3, Persona Royal and FFVIIR. Given the amount of games coming out and the amount of free time I have (because of the quarantine) I decided to wait a bit on Doom Eternal and went with Nioh 2, I love both games but Nioh 2 is more bang for my buck.
      Now I'm between RE3, Persona 5 Royal and FFVII. I have no doubt that RE3 is awesome but if I replay it 8 times it still doesn't compare to the amount of content P5 and FF has.
      If I look at RE3 and it's developers with empathy I see how it's a 60 dollar game but if I look at it as a consumer/gamer it's a bit too much for what it is. If there were absolutely no games that interest me releasing I'd definitely pull the trigger on it. I know I'll regret the purchase when I buy it and and when I finish the game after 6 hours even knowing that I'll be replaying it a lot.

    • @tylerrichardson3034
      @tylerrichardson3034 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The issue isnt neccesarily that its short but it feels like its missing content. All classic RE games are short but they dont feel like they're missing something.

    I think its amazing, liked it just as much as Resident Evil 2 Remake. I've never played the og versions of either and people have said there's some new and cut content from RE3R.

  • @zeiters2055
    @zeiters2055 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The original RE3 was intended to be a spin off, but was fleshed out into a full sequel. The original RE2 had like 5 times as much content as RE3. But even the RE2 remake was truncated from its original version. No B campaigns. Very few Raccoon City street environments. Including Mr. X as a prominent part of both campaigns distracted for William Birkin's role in the story line. So when you reduce the Resident Evil 3 content, you have a reduced version of what was always sort of the third Resident Evil 2 campaign, and it can't sustain a $60 release.
    Labyrinthian level design (the mansion, the police station) is truly the essence of the Resident Evil franchise, and it is what distinguishes it from other game series. This is what made the Resident Evil 2 remake special. The reason Mr. X works better than Nemesis, is that he's stalking you through that environment, and you have to be strategic about what path you take to avoid him and other enemies. Resident Evil 3 was always more linear (not as many interconnected hallways etc) but it maintained the randomness of the fights by having a set of variable actions the player could take that would trigger a Nemesis appearance.
    People who recall late 90s gaming, will remember that shortly after Resident Evil 3, Silent Hill 2 introduced its own spin on the stalker horror trope in the form of Pyramid Head. Despite not having tank controls and being fully 3D, Silent Hill has never been given the expectation of playing like Devil May Cry or Gears of War. In fact people were effusive of th4 Hideo Kojima Silent Hills demo that consisted solely of a character walking down a hallway.
    It was Clocktower that pioneered the stalker trope and survival horror, via a slasher villain with giant hedge trimmers. Clocktower didn't have any combat whatsoever, let alone tank controls vs action mechanics. The entire mechanic was evasion, paired with haunted house story telling. This same gameplay paradigm was explored more recently in Amnesia on the PC, where it was received as some kind of artistic innovation. But in fact, survival horror has always had its roots in Adventure Games, not in action titles.
    People have been unable to appreciate survival horror, because so much analysis of games is steeped in a zero-sum mentality of, what is 'the best' game mechanic, or what are the 'correct' controls. This habitual mentality of critics homogenizes video games as a whole. it fails to appreciate the intricacies of design that make any experience more than the sum if its parts. We are able to appreciate how iconic the nurses are in Silent Hill games for instance. But we don't translate that recognition to a broader analysis of criteria for "quality" in general.
    A Resident Evil 4 remake would not work because it has none of this DNA that makes a Resident Evil game greater than the sum of its parts. It is just a shooter. Really it was a late gen technical showpiece for the Gamecube, that betrayed loyal fans of the franchise, and was quickly supplanted by the likes of Gears of War and Uncharted, and so forth. Not because those franchises are better than Resident Evil. But because they're more sophisticated action games. They are more advanced software. If you don't engage a higher level of analysis, all games will ever be is a series of technical advancements.

    The reason RE3make wasn't as expanded or content-rich as RE2 remake is because, Blessing's hunch is 100% correct, they were developed concurrently. From a pure gameplay perspective and not counting story, I am one of the gamers, who actually felt the original RE3 was better than RE2.
      My biggest issue with the original RE2 was how the boss battles and enemy variety were not implemented in a way that I found challenging, for the variety of weapons offered. For me, this was a major problem that kept me from viewing RE2 as a personal Survival Horror classic, although I did think that it had a great story, atmosphere, and campaign structure.
      When I played RE3, I felt like I was experiencing the intended gameplay of RE2, if the basic controls were touched up a bit, the boss battles in general were tougher, Mr. X was no longer a pushover, and the enemy variety forced me to be more strategic with the different weapons. The more action-oriented nature was incidental to me. My only points of criticism for RE3’s gameplay were the “dodgy” dodge system, lack of a non-Nemesis boss besides the two Gravediggers, and me not enjoying Mercenaries as much as other players did.
      But once the RE2 Remake was released, for all its shortcomings and cut content, it did fix the original RE2’s biggest problem for me. Now, depending on how problematic the RE3 Remake’s cuts are, I might end up enjoying the RE2 Remake more than the new RE3.

  • @infinitybelt
    @infinitybelt 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I gotta disagree heavily with KF on this one. As someone who never played the original, RE3 was excellent. It's excellent in its own way compared to RE2, but still excellent. I think like all things it's all about expectation. I expected an RE2 that was more frenetic, open, and action-oriented... And that's exactly what we got. It's obviously going to use the same mechanics and UI as RE2 bevause it's literally the same time frame. RE2 and RE3 are happening in virtually the same environments and same events. Its basically like the other side of RE2 imo and I loved that. Going to the mansion as Carlos and literally making the hole I used to get into the hallway with the S.T.A.R.S. office was awesome. The setpieces with Nemisis were incredible and the openness of Racoon City was fun to roam around. Jill kicked ass and Carlos, while relatively one note, served his purpose.
    I really don't get some of these criticisms. "I didn't care about the characters because I needed more back-story", yea well it's the 3rd freaking game, Jill's bsckstory has its own damn game, go play that then you can care. "The game is too short, lacks content, and isn't worth 60 bucks", oh yea because RE2 is soooo much longer right? I love RE2 and have played through all the campaigns multiple times, it's not that long. If you combine both stories and add up what's actually new you'd probably get a game that's a bit longer than RE3 overall. But let's break that down shall we... The sewer area is straight up not that fun, and mansion is most of the game. Comparatively, RE3 feels more varied and "globe-trotting" if you will. As Jill I felt like I was exploring most of Raccoon City rather than just RPD. Oh and don't come at me with 4th survivor and other survivor modes bevause those were just glorified shooting galleries that were incredibly frustrating due to abundance of enemies and lack of checkpoints. Both games are great in their own ways, RE3 was exactly what it was supposed to be so love it, or hate it, what were you expecting?

My complaints are yes it's short as fuck, I wish they wouldve kept the graveyard in this new one and improved on it. Also it feels like DLC because it feels like you thrown into a game that you're suppose to care about these people and we do but NEW Guys to RE dont because they have no idea about Jill's backstory because it hasnt come out within the last 5 years. It feels like you're thrown into the middle of something but you don't know what that something is.

    What is the reason they didnt remake RE1, regarding new players who have no idea what Jill's background is and this game does kind've feel like it was thrown in here and story wise as well like to the fact that you should know more of what's going on. Like why is Jill so fucked up in the intro psychologically? And then throws you into the game that strays away from that. It's a shame because we all know Jill is the OG of the series and I wish they would've remade Re1 and made this like a Lost Legacy dlc of it. Nemmy should be more like Mr. X too. Which is a letdown.

    i think they put a lot of stake in how amazing RE2 remake was but i have my own theory about that. Remake 2 wasn't this amazing new experience, it was a return to something from the 90's that worked well but the industry just decided not to make any more of. It was a faithful remake and the amazing reviews it got weren't because it was new, they were because generally we have forgotten how good survival horror was back then. @@jean-alexandrethibault3892 The second scenario has different scenes and characters you meet. If you play the game from the beginning with the opposite character. The dialogue you have with Marvin and how you react to stuff you find is different.

    Blessing just constantly talks shit, no idea how he works in the industry ‘never played the original RE3, so I’m just treating it is a sequel to RE2’ wow..

      Crazy that he's treating a sequel to RE2 as a sequel to RE2.

    It's a decent enough game, but it isn't worth sixty dollars.

    Hi ow can yall act like animal crossing is worth $60 but this game isn't

    • @spiritualsoul2711
      @spiritualsoul2711 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Animal crossing has 1 save file so if a family member wants to play they need to buy another 300$ switch for the 2nd save file. These mindless idiots playing animal crossing never mention this which is why it's getting 10/10s proving the Nintendo bias these man children have.

      Animal Crossing is a great game. If it doesn’t interest you.... then just don’t buy it.

      @Visal Ky because the length of a game actually makes a game good.. right... dont be stupid

      @Visal Ky "35 hour game" oh you poor thing... First time buying a square enix game?
      They lie about that shit ALL the time. They get the worst player in the world to play the game from start to finish- then add 20 hours to however long it took them.
