If anyone is watching this to learn how to play, note there is a mistake at 23:16. The game states damage from invaders is dealt to land and Dahan seperately. 4 damage would’ve killed 2 Dahan and only one would be able to fight back, so player could choose to kill off either both explorers or the town, and a blight would be added. I really appreciate the video though, this game has a steep learning curve!
Thank you so much for the video! I played along with you copying your moves to learn the mechanics and played right after with my girlfriend! Such a great game !!!
This game is the board game equivalent to those movies where there are multiple story-lines and they all converge at the end. Like Lock Stock and Two smoking Barrels. It's fun, but you need a nap after. I read that you are taking a step back from TH-cam. Sorry to hear that, I have enjoyed your channel very much. Thank you.
@Lance Goodthrust Yep, it's a brain burner that gets you ready for a nap, and yes, I'm taking a break from new recordings for a while to focus on other items. We'll see what happens. :)
the passive power is fast, but your power card is slow. You still get to use your slow power card twice? i thought you are not allowed to transfer fast powers.
I've only played part of a game multiplayer; all the rest have been solo. It's a brain-burner for sure, but a lot of fun. Not a game I would likely play more than once in a session (assuming I didn't get shellacked from jump).
@Christopher Briggs I'd have to say, my group hasn't played multiple sessions of this game back-to-back either. We tend to need to calm it down after a game of this. :)
Of course you can change your mind. You’re a god after all. The accelerating complexity is what keeps me from pulling the trigger on this one. My play partner was not comfortable with such crunchy things back when this was first released. Since then we’ve assembled a nice pile of boxes of varying difficulty so it might be getting to the time where SI would see some play. The down side, of course, is that with them gaining additional gaming experience I get clobbered with too high a frequency. There’s a growing consensus that my partner is genetically enhanced.
Seems full of replayability and combinations due to the asymmetric powers... Looks interesting and a bit prone to analysis paralysis... Thanks for the video!
I personally didn’t like the Multiplayer game. Not sure if it was the group or analysis paralysis but there was hardly any interaction and too long (3 player). I can see playing it at 2P max but no more. Now I’m about to play it solo which is what I bought it for 😁
You should have put a 6th blight token on the enemy board space at 2:47. But that was changed some months ago so I guess after you created this video. ;-) I'm gonna miss your content!
I know they changed it so that you add 1 more blight, but does that apply even when you are playing without a blight card? As far as I know that change was made so that you don't flip the blight card too early at low player counts.
Nicely done! Keeping the invaders under control is really Vital Strength of the Earth's strength. You had a lot of blight to give, so you might have been able to play more aggressively. The real wild part is people who play multi-handed, which I can't wrap my brain around.
@John Brown For me, it's too much of a puzzling brain burner and after a long day at work, I prefer something less brain burny. I do play it on occasion in a group (someone else's copy as I've sold my copy).
@@DaletheCasualGamer I keep debating buying this game. I could get it for $30 right now but I work a job that requires a lot of thinking so not sure how relaxing this would be on my down time.
Such a brain burner of a game, but one of the most satisfying to win. I found the app version to be a great learning tool.
@B N So true on the brain burner part, definitely a thinky puzzle game. Good to know about the app! :)
@@DaletheCasualGamer it made things like targeting powers a lot clearer for sure.
YOU ARE AWESOME! ❤❤❤
I JUST GOT THIS GAME AND AM EXCITED TO SAVE THE ISLAND!! 🏝 ❤💪
Very nice playthrough, super helpful for the soloers out there
Thanks! :)

Rule for this Spirit is it defends three on land with a shrine
Thanks for the video! Most of my plays are two-spirit solo plays.

Glad it helped and happy gaming! :)
This is an awesome game. Picked it up this year and it has seen a lot of table time. Thanks, Dale.
@Lower Slower Board Gamer Thanks for watching, and glad you've been enjoying the game! :)
I need to get spirit island back to the table soon, such a great game!
Good luck saving your island! :)
This game we played a lot on TTS during the lockdowns and ended by getting the physical copy because we licked it so much.
Awesome! Hope your group continues to enjoy the physical copy! :)
how did it hold up to the licking? lol just messin around
This helped tremendously! Thank you!
@Static Klingon Glad to help get you started! :)

As fantastic as this video is, what impresses me the most is how flat your invader board is!
Haha!! :)

Very prone to analysis paralysis ... so choose your gaming group wisely. ;)
@@DaletheCasualGamer Me... and myself! And even this way, I'm scared! 😅
Multi-player is alot more fun but it also has more of my wife getting angry that I'm taking to long to figure out what I'm going to do on my turn.
@Daren Jenison Oh yes, this game can fall to some analysis paralysis. Good luck to you and keeping your wife happy at the timing of your turns! :)

@@JannPoo It does change for all modes, not only blightcards.
Where is the link to that change?
@@francishoguee Check Google, can’t post links here, comments get deleted.
Have actually never tried true solo, i need to though.
Good luck in your solo game! :)
Found this game at binge bins for $10 CAD (about 8 USD). Good condition, all pieces present.
Glad I did, it's a good game and otherwise I probably wouldn't have given it a chance. Might by expansions at some point.
Great deal! :)

@@anthonium. It's a "heavy" thinky game in my opinion.
I prefer solo, single-spirit play through.
Hi, I think you do a mistake: removed blight go back in the box and not on the Invasor table
Removed blight goes back on the Blighted Island card or board in lieu of using one of the blighted cards.
