Recently introduced the term 'minus down' to the significant other. They have gone from affectionately calling me their 'plus 1', to 'their minus down.'
I agree. I used only eat capers with lox on a bagel with cream cheese. They would just sit in my fridge the rest of the time. Now I find myself throwing them on everything. They are the ultimate plus up!
You take some risks with your plus-ups, so only having three minus-downs is really rather impressive. And considering the base sandwiches in those cases.... it's asking a lot for a plus-up anyway. hehe. Nicely done!
now i'm going to have to do some experimenting with this caper - peanut hazardous zone and see if there where it gets ugly and where there might be exceptions. if i were forced to pick only one addition to have with sardines for the rest of my life, it would be capers... so i know that's not it. peanut and sardine might do better with south/east/southeast asia or mexican flavors, but seeded rye seems like a potential problem there. maybe just chili crisp with added toasted sesame seeds.
When you said "and lastly..." my thought was "Hey, only 3 out of over 300? Those are damn good odds." Also, loved the Simpsons Reference. Also, also, we got one more "Pickley pop" before the end of the year! 🎉 *shot!*
Haha "Pobody's Nerfect".Haven't seen or heard that in a minute! But if you had 4 minus downs last year, and 3 this year, then statistically speaking,in two short years you'll actually be perfect!Woohoo!
Have you ever considered revisiting any minus downs to see if an alterative plus up, may work? I understand if you don't want to, since most of these aren't very good to begin with.
I love your channel. Your selection of sandwiches is always amusing and I enjoy your reactions. But because your plus-ups always seem to involve adding heat (chili, spice, etc), that tells me something about your palate, which is very different to mine. So, I'm less inclined to rely on your judgements and want to try the sandwiches for myself.

somehow this channel got into my roku TV , & now I think I'm going to buy his book.
1:21 "on the plus side..." Oh, you!
Happy New Year! Thanks for all the Sandwiches, past and future.
It takes a big man to ring in the new year by releasing a compilation of their own mess ups to the internet
Pickled Capers are something that have enriched my life. I'd never thought about them until I saw this channel, so thank you for that.

He knows his flavors. Did you see his pantry?
Can’t win em all! But honestly 3 out of hundreds shows you are the Bomb!!!
Surprised smoked paprika would result in such a minus down on anything.
I know - it's the bacon of the spice world! 🥓🌍

Minus down! Minus down! We need a medic down here, stat!
I think its too late, bring a bag.
"Seemed like a good idea at the time" -Vin (Paul Newman) in Magnificent Seven. Only three, not bad at all.
That would be Steve McQueen, not Paul Newman.
@@sullywinn4225 Thank you! Don't know why I always confuse those two. And I prefer Steve.

I still can't figure out how hot sauce or chili powder can ruin anything lol.
There were certainly a lot of great guests in 2024 🤔
Banana ham might have benefited from 5 spice. The warm spices could compliment both the ham and the banana
Nice idea, but I don't think there's any saving that combo! 🤢
Plus downs!!
for tomorrows show....please be a boat load of BACON related sandwiches!!!!
ooooooooo a cliff hanger
Can I have Best guest sandwich makers for 200 Alex?
I think the sardine and peanuts needed cheese.
🏆
For the future, please don't force subtitles.
Not sure I get what you're saying. The subtitles being on or off is up to the viewer on TH-cam.
@SandwichesofHistory It's not really a big issue but, it is easier to do nothing than to erase subtitles.
At least these were attempts to make bad to mediocre sandwiches better rather than ruining really great sandwiches.
Hand banana
It takes a big man to admit when he's made a mistake.
I am not a big man.
