    Professor Sarfo Kantanka thank you

    Teacher Kantanka, you are a national treasure. Basically, we are now practicing what we inherited from the colonialists. It is alien hence our challenges. A national conversation must consider restoring the values of our traditional system.

    I am awed and very proud of Ashantiman internal and external organisation. You've imparted more historical and social knowledge that I studied at school and home. I feel proud today.

    The United States practices how Asante was organized. No wonder it has prospered. Colonialism impeded Asante's development.

    I have been reading a lot of history lately and I think our forefathers had a superior government than we have today. The traditional leaders must arise , they have slept for too long.

    Thanks for your education. I have a question to ask. I head Mamponghene is second (Vice) to Asantehene. However, Mamponghene is considered as Abrempong which according to narrator is under Omanhene and the Omanhene is also under Asantehene. Base on this, how can Mamponghene be considered as the vice to Asantehene?

    Can you do other Akan areas like Kwahu? Or at least as you talk about Asante, bring in their interaction with other states like Kwahu, Akyem, etc?

    • @animals_luv
      @animals_luv 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Kwahu and Asante no difference

    • @amoakorichard1
      @amoakorichard1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From the little I know, Kwahu's were also an Ashanti state and they were residing at present day Kwamo, a suburb of Kumasi. They rebel against the Asante confederacy and had to flee to the mountains to present day Kwahu. Same can be said about the Baulè tribe in La Côte D'voire; They are also Asante's

    It is not truly democratic in choosing the Chief in Asanteman. It is only the Queen's mother (one person) who chooses the chief without any consultation with the Abusua if she chooses. This aspect of the Queen selection often brings litigation as 98%, as the Queen chooses her son. This aspect of choosing the chief often results in infighting between the gates which has brought too many litigations in Asante. This practice is wrong /outmoded and the selection should be discussed in the Abusua including the Abusua and if necessary two candidates should be forwarded to the Kingmakers for them to decide. It should not be just the Queen mother only selection that should be accepted. That is not truly democratic in my opinion and the amamerE should be updated to reflect today's society.

    • @boaduemmanuel4857
      @boaduemmanuel4857 ปีที่แล้ว

      The kingmakers are the one who elects the CHIEF. They can decide to reject the nomination of the Queen Mother. If the Queen's nomination is rejected 3 times, it is the kingmakers who then take over to nominate and elect one person.

    • @tsatsabuzanga1490
      @tsatsabuzanga1490 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@boaduemmanuel4857 You have proved my assertion right that it is not truly democratic. It should be discussed within the Abusua before the Queen's mother nominates, but sadly, quite often, this is not the case. This often brings litigation among the gates.

    • @boaduemmanuel4857
      @boaduemmanuel4857 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the Queen mother consults the Abusua, then there will be no need for kingmakers.
      Modern democracy is an offspring of the traditional democracy. There's no difference.
      In modern democracy, if you want to contest for say MP or PRESIDENT, someone has to nominate you first.
      After nomination, the voters will then vote.
      In the traditional system, the nomination is what's done by the Queen mother. After nomination, the Kingmakers will then vote.

    • @tsatsabuzanga1490
      @tsatsabuzanga1490 ปีที่แล้ว

      All I am saying is that if the Queen's mother only chooses and there is no input from the whole Abusua. It is not democratic. When it is finalised, then it goes to the next level where it could be two candidates where the final say lies with the kingmakers. Without any input from the Abusua, it can not be truly democratic.

    "To my Ashante, the Pink flamingo with one foot down is coming, surprising no one, followed by the black camel, be warned. Seek refuge or flee."
    These words seem like nonsense to me, but I don't often dream words I've never heard before. It was a womans voice and she pronounced the end of the tribal name with a Teh and not tea. I'm looking for someone with a sore or broken right ankle.

    Most of what this man is saying doesn’t add up. On the tradition side I can say he is right but on the other historical side some of his narrations are not true. You need a good Ashanti historian to give you a proper history of Ashantis.
