I understand why we should be cautious but we can’t avoid it in many circumstances. I also taught in China for a few years. Imagine being a black teacher in China chasing after a little Chinese girl who ran outside crying...... and I’ve got to get her back inside...... I was afraid because, at that time, my Chinese wasn’t good enough to explain that the little girl was my student. But Chinese folks just walked by smiling at me. I assume they were thinking, “ he’s trying so hard to deal with this difficult child”

I was a babysitter of white children at one time, and the white couple told me, the reasons as to why they let me babysit is because the kids look up to me and the fact that they don't trust other white folks with their children. As a black man, I would get the same treatment as well.

The doctors and nurses were trying to calm me down and tell me things would be OK, to no avail. So what finally calmed me down and made me feel safe? One nurse. One nurse with a gentle touch, calming voice, and a powerful presence who made it clear to me that, in the moment, for them, I was the most important thing in that chaotic and terrifying (to me) scene. That nurse saved my life. That nurse was a black man.

I'm white, and learned more about black history from my babysitter than I ever did in history class. She had an amazing collection of books she would read to us, about different events and people. She bought over documentaries to play for us. I remember my favorites we're about Shaka Zulu and George Washington Carver, both amazing men , and both people that may have had a paragraph in our history book. It's pitiful that young white kids aren't taught much about the history of people of color. I think that young black woman shaped my outlook on different cultures more than anything else did.

I’ve had this happen to me before my father is a black man and I am not as dark. We went to the movies and a white lady called the cops saying that my father was sexually harassing me because he was hugging me. They knew right away that he was my father but still stopped him and questioned him.
It's a good thing the police did their due diligence, by confirming with the parents and did not escalate the situation further. That could've ended badly for that dude. I think that woman owes that man an apology.

People call the police on each other for nothing all the time. They can't arrest someone unless they have evidence to suggest the person who called them did it to maliciously harm the suspect. Paranoia is legal.

That poor woman. It must be awful to be so afraid all the time -- afraid of everything. Black men. What about black men? I recently had a heart attack. I'm a 76 year old white trans woman. Never been sick before a day in my life. I was absolutely terrified in the hospital, and crying uncontrollably. The doctors and nurses were trying to calm me down and tell me things would be OK, to no avail. So what finally calmed me down and made me feel safe? One nurse. One nurse with a gentle touch, calming voice, and a powerful presence who made it clear to me that, in the moment, for them, I was the most important thing in that chaotic and terrifying (to me) scene. That nurse saved my life. That nurse was a black man.

I'm white, and learned more about black history from my babysitter than I ever did in history class. She had an amazing collection of books she would read to us, about different events and people. She bought over documentaries to play for us. I remember my favorites we're about Shaka Zulu and George Washington Carver, both amazing men , and both people that may have had a paragraph in our history book. It's pitiful that young white kids aren't taught much about the history of people of color. I think that young black woman shaped my outlook on different cultures more than anything else did.

I’ve had this happen to me before my father is a black man and I am not as dark. We went to the movies and a white lady called the cops saying that my father was sexually harassing me because he was hugging me. They knew right away that he was my father but still stopped him and questioned him.
What if he was dating their mom! I mean, there are so many scenarios.... BUT the kids were not screaming or in distress! SMH!!

It's a good thing the police did their due diligence, by confirming with the parents and did not escalate the situation further. That could've ended badly for that dude. I think that woman owes that man an apology.
My step dad( he is a darker color) and my uncle(also a darker color) were both walking me to the corner store when I was five and there was a white woman following us and gave me a thumbs up, then asked me if I was okay ( I ran from her). But she kept eyeing us throughout the store
