Holly is beautiful no matter what she is. We got a fluffy ball of fur when she was 8 wks old and we told she was an Aussie Husky mix. Well when she was 2 yrs old we did a DNA test cause her appearance said otherwise. DNA said our fur baby came from a full blood line of Border Collie mixed with Treeing Walking Coonhound. Her Great, Great Grandparents were all pur breeds but her Great Grandparents is were the DNA changed.
I grew Hoss seeds year before last. This season I grew another big name brand because they were free to me. Not bad but I loved the Hoss so will go back to them.
Jason, I’ve been looking for the famous Hydrangea. I’ve got one plant about 5 yrs old, but I’ve been looking for more Coghill pointers. Thx Tom in Hot Springs, Ar.
I truly miss my neighbor Frank! He passed away about 8 years ago! He grew the best vegetable garden ever! Big plants and really dark green leaves on them. He did all the hard work and I'd come home from work and have fresh vegetables on my back porch! New potatoes, silver cream corn, cucumbers etc. He'd make a compose pile and he would use horse manure along with leaves etc and flip it over every so often. Steam would come out of it when he flipped it over. He left me two rows open to plant okra for my husband who passed away too! He told me how far apart to plant the seeds. He told me the secret is to soak my okra seeds overnight in water before I planted them. He said that they would germinate faster! He wasn't lying! I don't eat okra, but my husband had a boat load of it! What I miss the most about him is we'd sit out there in lounge chairs, drink beer, have great conversations and watch his garden thrive! :)
We had an Australian Shepherd many years ago. We named him Dundee . Even though we didn’t have animals for him to herd it didn’t stop him from trying to herd us 🤣 when we took him on walks. All of your animals are blessed to have your family as their caregivers ❤
My grandkids loved your kids’ channel. The 4-year-old counted and called out colors etc and even the 9-year-old watched and enjoyed the episode. You have a hit! (I don’t know how you do it all!)❤
It doesn't matter what the test shows..or what percentage of breed Holly may be.. we all know that she's 100% Farm Dog and Beloved 4 Legged Friend of Jason's!! She's just Awesome!!❣
I gotta tell you guys...I watched the kids video this morning! My kids are all adults now, but i would be showing those videos all day long!!! Very very good! Jason...you are the perfect guy for it! I loved Egypt's fun fact! I loved we are all wonderfully different!!! Beautifully put together! Thank you for this labor of love!
Hey, Jason/Brooke! I just had a light bulb moment. Why not put a trail cam down at the spring where the dogs swim? Then we'd know how often Bandit goes swimming or if he just Marinates for long periods and who joins him?
Actually, it might be fun to see an all day times lapse of any of the animals. That might be easier at the new barn paddocks.. and then slow down and stop for couple of seconds for sweet moments like pettings or nose kisses between animals.
Exactly. I even think it'd be nice to see a Live Feed out there, for the wildlife at least. (Photographer Morten Hilmer does that at a little dry creek bed on his property in Denmark. It's a super popular channel, and his live web cam setup is solar powered). I don't know how they'd feel about live cams on their pets... (not trail cams, but a live feed on TH-cam)... but a secluded spot on the property that isn't often frequented by anyone might be nice. That way they'll still have privacy, but can see/share with everyone what critters visit the property at night. (We're only on a small 2 acres and we've had fox, raccoons, possum, roadrunners, etc).
Wasn't expecting Outback! Too funny. I really thought you were going to take her to a herding dog training class. If they have any near you it's such a joy to see their natural instincts kick in and herd like they were meant to.
Oh that was very funny, Outback Steakhouse! I just cleaned up my raised beds so I can get them ready for crops. At least it is not in the triple digits here in AZ. I PRE-ordered my seeds, etc. from Hoss Tools and I just got an e-mail this week that my Elephant Garlic is on its way. I’ll wait to put in the Romaine till later. It does great in our late fall and all through winter and spring. Then I just let grow. Over 4 ft tall. Not edible that big but it was a great as a sun shade.

Holly, Im sure your truly enjoyed your surprise, I know i had a big smile on my face. No matter what Holly's DNA was one thing for sure, Holly your human daddy and Momma loves you so much but we all know how much that you Ms. Holly is connected to your daddy's hip.... Y'all have a blessed weekend and we will be seeing yall on your next video!!Lots of ❤❤ for the One-N-Only Cog Hill Farm & Mrs. Cog Hill Farm ❤️ 🚜
Awesome results! I didn’t realize her eyes were light! The thing that fooled me the most was her coat texture... the Border Collies I have known were fluffy, and the Aussies were more rough/shorter :) Her results were so specific, so many generations back! Great dog!
I have had two Aussies and honestly, they have been VERY fluffy. Lots of variables in breeding, some not so good for dogs. BUT Aussies are some of the most naturally smart and kind breeds out there. I adore BC's but at my age could not keep up with what that kind of pup would need.
My son showed me a cartoon where God is talking to a team of dogs in heaven. He said: "Listen up, team! I am sending you to earth but you won't be wearing your wings, because those humans needn' t know that you are really angels." SO TRUE! A dog will never wake up in the morning and and say "I don't love you anymore." Keep up the good work and may God send you MANY more blessings and joy in your work and your company with your farm pets!
I get teary eyed seeing Holly. She reminds me of my kiddos dog, my gbaby, Symon Jai. We had to put him to sleep do to intestinal issues and after 3,000.00 in surgeries. Holly is so precious! I love that you an Brooke now each have a working dog that tags along during chores and all. All of your pups and animals are so loved and precious.
That was a wonderful surprise for Holly. Taking her to the Steakhouse was certainly enjoyed by her. Your channel is so enjoyable. She is a wonderful dog.
As an adult every dog that adopted me was a rescue. Their breed was easily The Perfect Breed. The bond was instant and existed until they passed. (I'm an only child. I couldn't have children so I never married. In addition to my parents my doggums were my best friends.) Holly is extra special. Once I purchase a home and relocate I plan to be rescued yet again. Maybe a few chickens so I can have fresh eggs. Originally I was thinking of including 2 female goats but I trust Brooke and Jason when they say goats can be challenging so I will be ok with a doggum and a few chickens. No roosters. Looking at an acre property this weekend. That is a lot to mow but I'm retired and a riding mower would have to be in my future. I am tired of traffic and noise. I realized the calm I feel after watching the Smith's channels is mostly due to their wonderful personalities but a bit of credit has to go to the animal sounds and the peaceful area. Rural life is so appealing to me. I could easily become a hermit. Sometimes I go 10 days going no further than the mailbox. I appreciate Brooke and Jason helping me recognize this side of myself. My parents were raised on farms. They would be delighted to know I am hoping to have a garden, freeze-drying food, having fresh eggs from my own chickens, etc.
Rocky protects the porch and house and Bandit patrols the farm. It’s typical of a pair or a pack that each individual in the group or pair take on a different role.
Loretta wins prettiest singing voice on the farm. She really has a “powerful” voice. I completely love her and her perfect husband. Such beautiful happy looking pigs!
The way she was looking up to you when you were sitting with Holly. Nothing is better then when any fur baby looks at you with unconditional love in their eyes. Warms the soul through in through. ❤😊
A friend that taught me how to knit an afghan that I so loved, back in 1976 had several border collies and Holly does NOT look like her dogs. But she is one I sure would love to have. Bless you folks Gog Hill Family Farm for taking her in. She is a gem of a dog!!!
You guys are wonderful, what fun, going to the outback for a steak, who would have thought of that but you guys!! You are so kind to the animals ! They are so lucky to have you!!
That was SO sweet to go out of your way to celebrate Holly’s DNA day! I think she definitely enjoyed it. She’s one-of-a-kind just for you guys at Cog Hill. ❤️
Lol. Holly fell in Love with you and you just couldn’t leave her. Got to take the one that chooses you. Always. You have that connection that cannot be explained. No matter what the boys are genetically they are perfect for the farm and you guys. Rocky May not be active but he is very alert. I am shocked at Holly’s test but am glad she has some border collie that is expressed in her personality. Anyway she is perfect.
We got a tri-color Aussie shepherd that was one of the best breeds ever. We had a 1 year old German Shepherd, that the Aussie puppy tried to mother and started to herd him from Day 1.. Those 2 dogs had the strongest bond. That was 30 years ago, and I still miss them. They were loyal and wanted to work to please you, but they just loved to work. Your Holly is a special girl, Jason. She will always be by your side. I felt pretty sure she was an Aussie, since she looked like mine. And she will get thicker in the mid section as she ages. She needs a herd of something to run in the new pasture. Maybe the goats would like it. Hugs from Mare in Texas
The Australian Shepherd is descended from a line of Europe’s finest herders. The Aussie’s world tour began in Europe, near the Pyrenees Mountains. It was here, in the borderlands between France and Spain, where the indigenous people known as the Basques built their centuries-old reputation as world-class shepherds. Their herding dog of choice was called the Pyrenean Shepherd, (progenitor of our modern Aussie). Eventually, many Basques, with their faithful shepherd dogs in tow, sailed to the Australian continent, a wide-open paradise for sheep herders. During their long sojourn in Australia, the Basque shepherd refined their dogs with very selective crosses to British breeds that had been previously been imported to Australia, Collies and Border Collies, among them. After building up their flocks, the intrepid Basques left Australia for greener pastures-literally-and set sail to California. California ranchers admired the Basques’ herding dogs and assumed they were an Australian breed-thus the misleading name Australian Shepherd. Aussies, further refined and perfected in America, have been an iconic part of cowboy culture ever since. The Australian Shepherd entered the AKC Herding Group in 1993.
What I love about you guys is your "joie de vivre", your playfulness, and the fun you create for you, the viewers, and the animals all the while teaching us about animals, gardening, and farming.
Holly reminds me of my Mollie - also tricolor we rescued at 6 months. She was in a grocery cart - told if she wasn't gotten rid of that day she was going to the pound. She also kept her tail. Lost her last year at 15 yrs. Miss you girl❤
Good morning, Cog Hill 40 and Friends!!! Jason, you and your family are simply amazing. Thank you for providing such wonderful video content for us to enjoy! ♥️♥️♥️
Holly is the perfect working dog, a mix of three of the best breeds in the world, in my opinion! McNab's are awesome, too! All smart and wonderful working/family dogs!
That was very sweet taking Holly out for a DNA surprise. Well now everyone knows but we've always known how beautiful and very sweet Holly is. It's great you can do a Fall garden can't do it outside here 🇨🇦 at least in Ontario. 😀
Morning Cog squad, I would have never thought cattle dog in Holly. Now days most Aussies tails are not docked, my vet says leave them as they're born. I have a Aussie male that is a natural/natty (born without his tail) and is a red Merle with 2 different colored eyes (1blue/1brown with a touch of blue in one corner that everyone thinks something in his eye). He a Velcro dog from the day I got him, he's getting up in age now but still thinks he's a puppy he's 13 now. Love him too death, but I know he loves me more, just like Holly. Aussies love more than the best parent can love their baby. Great dogs, easy to train (most train themselves) to fit your life style. Y'all be good 😊
My little brother had a dog like Holly,a black & white one. He was dedicated to my brother. I heard from many people that they are a one man dog. He was a great Procter of my brother and his bicycle and later motorcycle. We loved that dog too.
Jason & Brooke! You two are too cute! So nice of you to celebrate Holly’s heritage @ ‘Outback!’ Woo-hoo! Love your personalities & fun outlook on life! Thx for sharing Cog Hill Farm w/us! I grew up in the city & love watching your videos! So Special🎃
Great news, Holly knows who she is now😂! Shes such a sweetheart!! Jason & Brooke I dont know how you do it! You work so hard & never stop! I can barely keep up on my yard! You're such wonderful folks to watch and your farm is magnificent!! ❤🙏❤

That was hilarious. I like that you took at the outback steakhouse to get her a steak because she’s an Australian cattle shepherd.😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤
I loved it! So special for Holly!

What I love about you guys is your "joie de vivre", your playfulness, and the fun you create for you, the viewers, and the animals all the while teaching us about animals, gardening, and farming.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That was fun, Holly you've got a great life.
I love watching your videos on gardening because your so excited
Holly reminds me of my Mollie - also tricolor we rescued at 6 months. She was in a grocery cart - told if she wasn't gotten rid of that day she was going to the pound. She also kept her tail. Lost her last year at 15 yrs. Miss you girl❤
Best treat ever! Thanks for a good giggle! Having fun watching y’all!
OUTBACK 😂😂😅
Holly is precious no matter what she is.
Rocky and Bandit has really grown so big! They are so big and beautiful!!! Bandit knows how to stay cool in the hot weather.
What a fun surprise for Holly she enjoyed that.
My son has 2 Aussies and I thought all along that was what Holly is!❤
I have never seen such great love for animals! Jason and Brooke are giving
Me a lot of ideas to spoil my dog even more!
Good morning Cog Hill Family! Much love and God Bless!! 🙏❤️✝️💗
I thought Holly might be Aussie with a touch of English Shepherd. She carries her tail higher than a BC, and no curl on the end. She is a lovely dog.
That was very sweet taking Holly out for a DNA surprise. Well now everyone knows but we've always known how beautiful and very sweet Holly is. It's great you can do a Fall garden can't do it outside here 🇨🇦 at least in Ontario. 😀
“Www” 😂 cracks me up every time
You guys are hilarious 😂 love that Holly girl! She has always seemed so happy to be part of your family and just fit in so well 💜
OUTBACK 😂😂😅
I had posted when you tested Holly and she does look like a Merle. Beautiful dog and sure loves her daddy. Love you all. Take care
25:32 haha, you did a Brooke❤
Y'all be good 😊
I love Holly but Loretta and Gus have my heart. They have awesome personalities especially Loretta..
I could watch them for hours
I love how you celebrate your animals! They are truly family ❤️
Looks like Holly liked her surprise. Hope all your seeds come up.
OUTBACK 😂😂😅
My little brother had a dog like Holly,a black & white one. He was dedicated to my brother. I heard from many people that they are a one man dog. He was a great Procter of my brother and his bicycle and later motorcycle. We loved that dog too.
