Just as the game becomes a bit more generic with its theming, it also means that you also get a generic enemy. Instead of "Green Orange", it's "Great Oppressor". Instead of someone who's hatred for humanity runs deep, to the point where they wipe out the rest of humanity while you're out cold in space, you're instead against someone who merely wishes to conquer Earth. And once you defeat that enemy, you just... go home. You don't have to risk your entire existence, you just fly home, enemy scattered without their leader. Is it generic? Yes. But after all you've been through? Yeah. That final sunset really does make the effort worth it. You've earned it.
It IS a rebooted timeline where the tragedy, betrayal, and loss in the original timeline are all averted, so the simplification of matters is an improvement to the parties involved, at least.

Sent to kill Great Oppressor solo since the higher ups have so much confidence in the Type-A fighter but ultimately getting mind controlled and forced to betray her sisters. There's no happy ending for her and she's forced to die as an unwilling traitor.
@@marcosperezomg Considering the change of enemy names/themes in the second playthrough, as well as the removal of the more harsh and bitter plot points, I've always seen it that in the second timeline, it isn't the PC's sister/comrade, it is just a generic enemy leader that needs taking out.

I’ve noticed at the end that when you make you final contact with the lotus orb at the end, a ring of symbols lights up around it, and that the number of symbols that light up is based on how much life you have left. Do you think there might be an easier egg there if you beat the lotus jewel with full health? Edit: Also, great job! This was a truly amazing run, and super informative. Ngl, I thought the C fighter kind of sucked and did the whole play through myself with B (back shot, charge move, drill form). But now I might try it out!
This video found its way into my recommendations at the best possible time. I've been obsessed with Void Stranger (another game from the same developer) trying to piece together the story, and I found out that both games actually share important pieces. I'm not usually interested in vertical-scrolling-bullet-hell like this game (also, I'm bad at them) so playing it myself was out of the question. I can't thank you enough for making such a good and crazy run to showcase the most content possible in a single video.
Going back and revisiting this game after playing Void Stranger, you can tell there's a lot of motifs here that carried over. Translating some of the unknown language from the Pandemonion fight and the various murals you see in cutscenes bears second looks.
I love that you called the crab Hysteric Empress. Darius Gaiden and ZeroRanger are my two favorite shoot 'em ups. I really appreciated the CC hints. I just got the true ending today and this was just the kind of thing I wanted to see afterwards to see how my playthrough differed from someone else's. Thanks for the upload!
1:06:32 I've tried stalling in this phase to see what happens. Nothing new happens at one bullet stream, and it'll stay at one stream until you die or finish the fight. I think the music eventually stops too.

You mean the desperation attack? that's the easiest part, you might think you have to escape it entirely but you just have to keep your hitbox (the orange part of your fighter) in the negative space of the lotus and dont touch the lines

Speaking of that desperation attack, it may technically be the easiest part, but at the end of a long run my nerves were so shot that it became absolutely terrifying for me.

At first glance ,it may be the typical shmup about blowing stuff up ,defeat the aliens and save the world. I couldnt believe they went really far to make the story so interesting. Even if i watch the entire gameplay before buying it ,i definitely will now. What an experience this was
Man, I played this and the final boss is extremely difficult. I had to use all of my continues and make sure to avoid every hit. If that wasn’t enough getting the true ending is a pain if you die in the final part. You have to start the game all over again!

i've been curious about why the color palette changes to gray orange once you get out of the loophole and play the real thing, is it referring that you no longer are in a loophole?
A few tips: If using Drill, Orb Spewer (1-4's boss) is kind of a pushover for both B&C. Just stay in it's face breaking the orbs before he get's a chance to do much with them. I was kinda shocked to see you do a more 'Sword' Strategy with them (Given Sword's more about projectile reflection, something that tends to edge it over Drill.) as a result. You can bounce up to 3 times in the span of about 2 seconds without taking, the 4rd bounce will cause you to lose a life though. You can bounce off of everything 'Green'. VS Despair's Orb phase, 9/10 for the 6, it's just better to absorb them all at once when they spawn (as they are like a powerup at this stage, nifty callback huh?), and then let them shatter as you lose a life. Better that then losing 2+ towards that stage and then being in a worse jam then before. Otherwise doing the 'Gem' part, Drilling lets you get up into her face and just CHEW her up, including when you lack backshot or sword to counter her sword attack (So you REALLY do not want to stall and let RNG pull that more then once or twice.) Also this game's ending segment is a total love letter to Raident Silvergun and E.S.P. RaDe. Good run regardless though, and nice on the full clear from start to finish! Including without a continue horde for the final bit!
i actually like using the charge shot for the first phase since you can charge it between every attack, timing it whenever the boss indicates its about to spawn orbs and basically clear the screen before it gets a chance to shoot anything, but after it switches to the second phase, putting the drill up so that it is over the spawn point of the orbs trivializes that part of the fight also another tip which isnt really useful so much as interesting is that in 1-4 you can charge a chargeshot from all the way before the monk boss, popping the bubble with the charging shot and get a laser off in the next boss also also, despair's glyph phase is much much easier if you dodge the whole thing instead of going in between the gaps of the glyphs, just rotate from top to bottom of the screen as she teleports on you, but dont go into the corners or edges cause she might not teleport there and you'd get cornered
Oh yeah, you said the bhudda skull bombs are p troubling and i have to agree. I found that autofiring the missiles can take them out a few moments before they get close. Of course this means giving up the charge shot, which is kinda busted on both fighters. I still prefer the missiles though.

Finally beat the game myself two days ago, and I can't thank your video enough, it didn't help me with the final boss (Beat it on my 5th try) but it helped me regain my progress faster!
Is this game one giant tribute to other games? Not that that's a terrible thing. But I noticed some really familiar designs, themes and boss firing patterns.
Everybody is so uncultured when trying to guess what this game is referencing with its plot and motifs, it's like 70% Diebuster and maybe 10% Evangelion
I know I'm incredibly late but hey I'm loving the game now so first thank you for showing the demo ending, I didn't even know there was a demo and it adds some backstory that sheds a different light on some events. Also for the third bonus in 1-1 I tend to start from the bottom of the screen and move up just before the first guardian appears (at the end of the fifth siren with male voice), temporarely slightly increasing the dps making killing the first two much more consistent. EDIT I wanted to add that at 10:10 if you put yourself just right int he middle you can hit both lanes with the side fire of backshot
Aboslutely fantastic run ! Congrats ! One quick tip for my fellow ZeroRangers : I found the train part in Stage 3 much easier if you fire a full charge shot on each train, then you just have to deal with the few remaining weapons.
I find that the back shot does tons of damage while the train is driving by, if you want to get early damage. In loop 2, I would follow that up with the drill, it's very effective at clearing out garbage while you destroy the train.

If you're talking about the Pre-Reset Computer, I think Erasure (the computer) was forced by Despair to do her bidding, but some of her actions make me question that. As for the attract mode, what about it confuses you?

Also, B 's largest drill can absorb attacks that none other weapon can absorb, and the sword do rapid attack that constantly protect you from front and side. I do prefer type B more though.

The back shot melts through Pandemonium like he ain't no thang.
Also, you can cheese grapefruit super hard if you kill his lances with a charge shot JUST as they spawn in each time.
