Thank you both for making this video. Very informative and it is nice to see people wanting to grow their own foods. My husband and I have tried to do this. We are still trying. We did have a big garden a few years ago and not everything grew, but what did was amazing. My husband did try and grow some things in the front of our house and the tomatoes grew very well! The strawberries and cucumbers didn't fare so well. But we are going to try again this spring. We do have 6 chickens now and one rooster as of July and August. So happy that we have them! We both want to start learning how to do our own canning. I have some health issues as well. I had my gall bladder removed in 1999 and I have issues with digesting some meats, grains and seeds. If I do eat those things, I have bad pain in my sides and spine. So going natural is always a good idea. I also have had extreme reactions to medications, and I use supplements now. Thank you for sharing your experience and struggles. I hope to learn allot from you both!

We share pretty similar health backhrounds. IR, thyroid issues, negative blood work for celiac but being DX celiac due to decades of issues in 2021. I'm just getting started with raised bed gardening but have spent the last year learning to can from other TH-camrs Acre homestead and 1870s homestead because I kept getting glutened even with things labeled as safe. Can't wait to see what you all have in store for 2023!

What I appreciate the most about this video is how honest you’re both being and helping others who relate because in many cases, we don’t have anyone to talk to who understands. I’ve been suffering for 20 years with severe constipation, going to the bathroom one day a month, two if I’m lucky and that’s with laxatives, veggies, beets etc and prescription medicine Dicyclomine” and looking 6 months pregnant after each meal, no matter what it is. Haven’t been tested for celiac issues but everything else is ruled out so I’m just stuck dealing with it

    • @GrainFreeHomestead

We homesteads too. Recently found out i have alpha gal so i can’t have mammal meal. Hubby has thyroid issues so we cut out most gluten. I still eat organic sourdough. Which i just found out our youngest son can have without issues. He’s been dairy and gluten free for awhile because he was getting sick all the time. So we’ve also taken a more serious turn on the homestead! I’m attempting breeding chickens this year instead of getting the Cornish cross.

Subscribed the other day after you shared about the meat birds on Facebook. I'm still debating on if I want to do meat chickens on my .6 acres in town. Im not grain free, but at the end of last year, I decided to do an anti inflammatory diet, which has been really hard. I feel like it's even harder now that I just found out I have a vitamin d deficiency. I'm so exhausted lately, I just want to do easy foods. I feel like it's hard to do that on the homestead. I mean, I could eat canned chicken soup or broth I made or eat straight eggs. It's just teaching me that I need more convenient canned food from scratch. Guess it was good for a first year pressure canning. It makes you just realize if you are truly prepared. Canned meat chicken probably would of helped. 😀

don't be discouraged by how big your yard is. There are people who grow gardens on balconies of apartments. Just keep learning and use the space you got. You can watch our sweet potato harvest and see how much we grew just our of a whiskey barrel. Good luck on winning and go grow some stuff in the space you got. Thanks for commenting

We talked about homesteading for a while and then it all happened overnight. We're limited to what we can do in town, but the plan for the final spot is in motion! 💛💛💛

I am grain free also since 2014 and very interested in homesteading and that is how I found you guys on yt! Best decision of my life. I did AIP Paleo (autoimmune protocol, check out Paleo mom) and it has made a huge difference in my autoimmune issues. Lost a ton of weight and many comorbidies.

Thank you! It's tough sometimes, but we have to keep trying new recipes and just getting the awareness out there for others. 😊

Be careful if you have any arthritis with eating too much tomatoes. They contain solenoids and can cause inflammation. Do your own research. I'm glad your feeling better. I feel like you told my story.

@@GrainFreeHomestead The people need to hear our stories. There are more of us out there going undiagnosed everyday and living with unnecessary poor health. Keep talking about your situation. It brings "Top of Mind Awareness" that many people need to be aware of. Too many people go too long undiagnosed. Best of health to you friends.

Homesteading has always been a dream of mine, and then I married a “city boy” 😂 So we’re half homesteaders lol we live on a little over a quarter of an acre, so it’s not a lot, but big enough for my raised bed gardens. I’ve been gardening most my life, starting canning last year and now we’re adding a tiny flock of chickens! Which is how I found you guys on Facebook 😊

You can do a lot on a small homestead it doesn’t take as much space that most people think
