@@Tobeh i dont think the average geared person runs around with pentamelded gear, most of the time people just use crafted gear with base melds or even without it, that or just base unaugmented tome gear or normal raid gear. when you do a damage comparasion between two jobs, to see their full potential, its better to use their best in slots because that is going to realistically reflect their potential. also just looking at 100% rank 1 logs dont tell the full story of the job balance, thats just people playing on meta comps and farming crits for hours on end
@@redking4696 comparing casters with bis gear is kinda hard as just one person. Unlike Phys/Melee/Tank/Healers, Casters sadly don't overlap that much with their gear. SMN and RDM overlap a fair amount I guess but for example if you're playing BLM Sps and want to compare it to RDM I'm gonna assume that no piece overlaps and they use completly different stuff, except for the ring since those are unique and you want 2x 630 ring unless the stats are literally useless on them. At least was that way in patch 6.1 (p1-p4). And since their design philosophy hasn't changed I'm gonna assume it's still the same. So for example BLM doesn't want the chest piece, but wants the pants. RDM wants the chest piece but doesn't want the pants etc.
@@Toad-yv8ko Yeah i know that about BLM, but BLM is out of the question in this video, also, even if that was the case, since he's using crafted gear anyway, he could just use the crit BLM bis for conformity, having 2 of the 3 casters bis is worth more than having only BLM bis if you're not top 1% blm seeking for the best possible optimizations
Can you explain specifically why you chose that summon order? I thought for SMN the optimal one was first Titan, then Garuda with swiftcast on Slipstream right at the end of the damage buff.
You use garuda first when your team composition has many raidbuffs, that way if you swiftcast slipstream you can snapshot raidbuffs and have a fully buffed slipstream going. If you only have searing light and no other raidbuffs up, titan first is the better choice. So in this case titan first would be better
yet still at some point i gotta wonder why i still play redmage... summoner is comparatively braindead >_>. Summoner can do almost everything while walking... and im standing in 2 sec intervalls xD. Planning my Swiftcasts and Accelerations too. Still love RDM tho >_>
Wait what? SMN is strong now? I haven't played since 6.1, did they buff SMN or something? Cuz I remember people saying it was the weakest magical ranged.
Can you do a melee comparison aswell? Imo I feel like casters should have more damage per cast but slower cast times than melee (noticeably) and melee should be less damage per cast but quicker. Which mostly we have but some problems still exist sadly between direct balancing
When I saw the changes, I had my hopes to switch back to RDM... but a simple dummy test, was enough: no, RDM is nowhere near SMN. Though in my case this might be simply because SMN has slightly better gear (since I'm going for SMN-BiS and not RDM BiS - and they use the same gear) ... At the moment I'm around 625 or above as SMN, while RDM has a little less due to the weapon... and I'm not overmelded anymore. That, and RDM is super dependable on progs: a single "Jolt" can ruin your entire dmg output...
RDM also tends to spike slightly higher during buff window if they manage their rotation correctly which may make them catch up to SMN. Overall it's probably incredibly close in a full raid situation. With RDM having better rez capability and SMN having better movement flexibility it's may be as balanced as it's ever been between those 2, tho we'll have to wait for actual raid data to be sure.
@@Sigel77 actually redmage should be above smn tbf. Summoner is the easiest job currently. You cant even call it a caster dps anymore, it's basically a physical ranged with the amounts of mobility it provides. While the actual physical ranged pay a horrendous mobility tax, summoner doesnt pay that tax to the degree physical ranged does. Also it's harder to optimize redmage because of pooling mana for melees correctly. Downtime is also a big issue when bosses are untargetable. Redmage cant build ressources, but summoners cooldowns just reset. It's a bit iffy with the caster balance overall
@@DesperiusFFXIV it does, but it's not huge. Smn has the highest auto attack of all casters and healers, and it adds up throughout a fight. It's around 10-15x higher than RDMs autos
Uhm ... why are you hard casting Garudas Skill? Actually you should use Swiftcast for that, because you're not supposed to revive people, so you can use it for the Garuda Hard Cast. Also i find hard to compare jobs on a Dummy, because the real difference becomes visible when you fight a real boss, where you have to do mechanics etc.
RDM still sucks because it still a massive utility-tax AND the caster-tax compared to the melees. Currently RDM is too reliant on the burstwindows which can be easily ruined by non-crits. Imo, remove Resolution from the game, make Scourge an autocrit, make Magicbarrier the lvl 90 Skill, give us a trait on 86 (or whenever you'll normaly get Magicbarrier) that gives Verhindert III/Veraero III a 80% Proc-chance and buff the potency on Verfire/Verstone. That way your not locked into a 6 part-combo everytime you melee and it would resolve in more overall sustained damage.
Small summoner tip. Hold the festers you get during phoenix for the 2min burst with bahamut. That way you get 4 festers under raidbuffs :)
Yeah you are right, I cannot hold myself there 😅
@@DesperiusFFXIV i know that feeling. It feels so satisfying to weave stuff, right? xD
Gotta admit, RDM is a lot more fun than SMN.
Can you do a comparasion with best in slot? the stats on crafted gear arent going to reflect well the full potential of both jobs
I think the crafted gear is usually to show what the averagely geared person can pull off. For bis people usually look through logs, right?

That isnt even "full" potential of RDM. He has no use for spell speed so crafted gear doesn't do justice
But for comparison its good
Please do reaper vs other melee please
