I don't think that's quite a fair assessment. Yes, they "just" play around here (it's a demonstration after all), use it in an ignorant way (I can't speak for them and their knowledge, so unclear if the ignorance is willful), and not for its intended purpose, but that doesn't mean that it can't serve other musical purposes either. It's the same with the Cajón, for example. Or the Roland TB-303. If everyone just used it like it was intended to, we wouldn't have Acid House.
It is but a machine I bought on eBay. Sold as parts. With death trap wiring. I made it safe. Used it in joy. Not as a tool of oppression. On the back of the instrument is a graphic of black and white keys. Around the tuning dial, European letter names for notes. It uses transistors invented in the US. The recording chain was built in China. The REX50 in Japan. Music is bigger than Texas.
