I am a electronic music hobbyist, graphic design teacher and recent fan of your videos. I have to say I really like your videos calm style, partly due to your soothing voice. Wish you would make more, but I guess life can get in the way so I understand.
PS I see you switched up the typography on your thumbnails. May I ask the name of the handwritten font on these batch of videos?

Whoa thank you!! You’ve inspired me a bit I have to say. And yeah I was busy getting a Masters degree and then making a bunch of music, but it has been on the back of my mind. I’ll get goin’ again! As to the font, I’ll check and get back to you when I’m near my computer (on my phone atm). My bro helps with the thumbnails as he studied design in school! So cool that you’re a graphic design teacher and make music too - very creative person!

How to turn your dawless setup into a DAW!

Hey thanks for the vid. I assume the new firmware song mode supersedes this approach? Also: is there a way for notes on a midi track to be recorded by the Digitone sequencer? I have midi files and I’d like the notes to be on my Digitone - then use the synth there or a connected synth to play those notes while I alter parameters. I though this video was that method :( Though it’s seem there may only need to be minor changes to this workflow to make that happen?

Hi Evan, thanks for this video. I have a question regarding this topic, for which i can’t find the answer anywhere :) Is it possible to do this the other way around… i mean sending midi program changes from the digitakt/digitone to ableton to change scenes for example? To clarify: i want to change patterns on my digitakt, the digitakt sends a program change when changing patterns and with this i want ableton to change scenes (or clips maybe)? Do you know if this is possible? Thanks for reading :) Cheers, Sjoerd

Hi Evan, I'm guessing this demo won't be possible in Session View? Thanks.

Thank you for sharing! Do you have an update on this now that song mode has been included in digitakt?

Can you do this in the clip launching window? Not arrange mode?

Smooth, informative, relaxing, thanks a lot Evan, it was super helpful. But can't find anywhere if this works while recording all tracks simultaneously with overbridge. Looks that overbridge and MIDI IN are exclusive in the digitakt.. Anybody got it to work? Thanks!

Hi Evan - thanks for the great walkthrough . I just picked up a digitone and I’m able to get the PC from Live to digitone while using midi over usb . However I can’t quite figure out how/ if this can be accomplished while using overbridge . Any ideas ? Thanks much in advance 🙏🏻

Marc Kremers ..kind of found a work around by sending very low octave notes on midi channel 16 into the over bridge plug in in order to do program changes . Ended up building a very convoluted Ableton live rack and stored 16 clips with different note values , to help me along in the future .

@@expatriotinfo I kinda just can't believe it. I think I've been faffing for the last 10 months, on and off, to just make Live and DT play nice. I go down a rabbit hole thinking [x] must be possible, only to find i wasted a week of evenings, I give up I try another thing, and it's the same deal. It's just not fun. I can't seem to get a workflow going. I mean how on earth is something as simple as program changes so impossible? Is it just me or is this just not possible? I'd love to see this setup you have, Did you share it on Elektronauts by any chance? Cheers.

Yes, you can still use Overbridge with this method, keep Overbridge selected in the DT config, just make sure your DT midi channel (10 in this example) is the same as the Session View midi track in Ableton.
