BACKSTORY:
This video was released on the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. It is a somber song for a somber occasion.
Four talented kids from Austin, Texas came together to shoot a video for a vocal cover of “The Sound of Silence” in the style of Disturbed. This is the first official project for the home-based Metal Cave Studios, aka “K8’s garage” where we recorded vocals and made the video with assistance from local professionals and freelancers from Belarus, Brazil, and Italy.
"The Sound of Silence", originally "The Sounds of Silence", is a song by the American music duo Simon & Garfunkel. Garfunkel, introducing the song at a live performance (with Simon) in Haarlem, June 1966, summed up the song's meaning as "the inability of people to communicate with each other, not particularly intentionally but especially emotionally, so what you see around you are people unable to love each other." For a song written over 50 years ago, the meaning still resonates as people are more connected than ever electronically but failing to connect emotionally with the people around them. We can all agree the world still needs more love.
