“It’s not how big the house is, it’s how happy the home is.”
Can’t wait to see what inspirations this cozy and warm place will give you! :D
Ahhh I'm so happy to be here! Such a cozy place
You're everywhere LOL
Boycott the criminal chinese government. Boycott all chinese goods.
@@niminfabriri618 if you removed everything in your home that is made in china...you will sit on the concrete floor... china has contributed alot to the world economy, what has your country contributed? Appreciate and be kind...
@@niminfabriri618 No I won't. That would put a Nordstrom employee out of work.
That's a really nice little apt with all the necessary modern conveniences. I've been told that heated floors are the best type of heating. No need for noisy, inefficient, and allergy producing heated air systems. The heat rises naturally and silently from the floor, so you no longer have to deal with a warm upper body and freezing feet.
Yes. Almost all new apartments in the North of China use heated floors. It's really efficient. To be honest, when I am at home, I still feel hot even wearing T-shirt. Because it's supplied by the government, we can't adjust it based on the temperature. But we can control the flowrate of the heated liquid. I believe this heating system is constructed by the owner of this apartment, so Blondie can adjust it.
Where is blondie? She hasn't replied my comments for days.
Boycott chinese products over heavy crime against uyghurs

I moved to Beijing from U.K. 6 months ago... I love your videos, they make me feel excited for the future and they remind me of how lucky I am to be living in Beijing.. hope to see you in town one day! lol thank you for the great content.
Welcome and Enjoy your live in Beijing!
As Xi said Whatz up Beijing
what's rent prices like in Beijing as opposed to home mate
I remember the first time when I have my tiny room in Europe, as a Chinese. When I arrive that beautiful old town Leiden, I was immediately in love with it. It’s very fun to see you so excited in Beijing old center, just like me in Europe. That’s what they say about traveling: Traveling is to leave a place that you are tired of to somewhere that others are tired of.
Or I can also say: traveling is to go to somewhere where you are excited to be from somewhere where others are excited to be.
Absolutely a warm and cozy home. Hope you'll discover more interesting things about Beijing's Hutong life.
I've heard that one of the inconveniences to live in Hutong is to use public toilet in the winter night. Wonderful to know that you have a private toilet. You can pour a big bottle of bleach into the drain and don't use it for about 10 hours, the smell will disappear. I learnt this trick from others and it works. Good luck!
Sounds like a great way to fuck up your pipes thou in the longrund
It‘s true that they used public toilet in the past. But when I went to Beijing and visited Hutong in 2008,I found that basically every family had their own private bathroom and the public toilet was set for we tourists😂
@@JustLIkerapunzel Not a problem with pouring bleach down the drain. Bleach is alkaline.
@@JustLIkerapunzel What do you think will happen to the pipes lol
China’s history and culture is so rich 😌 I’m considering moving to China, thanks to your videos!
It feels like a life switch. I am living next to Amy's suburb in Sydney, and Amy is living in my childhood memory
hahahah wow!!!
As a carpenter's daughter, I am IN LOVE with the original wooden beams! Those things are sturdy as heck and will probably outlast us all.
Looks gorgeous and gives me nostalgia from when I lived in Beijing.
Wonderful. We visited In an ancient world hutong in Beijing (tour group from OZ) we were entertained to lunch n culture and lifestyle. What impressed me most was that the one son had the bedroom with all the study gear and
Parents bed was in the lounge! I love China and enjoy your new home
Try pouring some vinegar and then hot water into all of the sewer/sink. Also, sometimes the smell is because their is no water in the slightly U shaped pipeline. Try keep them wet by pouring water into all of them, which sometimes can block the smell from other sewage feeding back up from your sink.
Amy, you are one of the most optimistic and vibrant fair dinkum Aussie I’ve ever met. You exude tremendous positive energy, really positively affect all who views your postings. Nothing seems to faze you. Looks like your tiger year is off to a roaring start. Looking forward for more reporting from a not so stranger in a not so strange land. Cheers to you mate😘❗️👍🇦🇺
Congrats on your new place in beijing! It absolutely looks stunning!!!
Thank you so much! Absolutely love it
Finally, you found your own place in China after so many months! Congratulations, the apartment looks great. If I were ever to move to Beijing, this would be something I'll totally go for!
I really really miss Hutong, I was born in Dongsi in Dongcheng District in Beijing, where I grew up in was a small house in a narrow Hutong. I would say young people couldn't survive there today but all my good memories are from there in my Hutong, I can't forget the time that I went to the nearby parks in all four seasons with my parents, or together with my friends we just rode bikes through those Hutongs to the famous Sanlian bookstore. The old Beijing has faded away, replaced by a modern new big city, only your video today has brought me back to old Dongsi again from Hobart.
Love the new place you found to live in. Thanks for making these videos each week.
Thanks so much Nick!!!
Hutongs!! A very old and historic place, congratulations!!
Visited some friends living in hutongs a little more than a decade ago. WOW they have changed! Such nice renovation & preservation work.
So happy for you! You're a courageous soul moving to China during a global pandemic, but yeah, follow your dreams! Have a Healthy & Prosperous Water Tiger Year!
Enjoy your new "tiny home", love how they kept the old beams in the renovation. Love that stone rubbing too!
Thank you!
Me too too. And Amy emphasised the stone rubbing where it showed that bbq was done 2,000 BC. This looks like a ubiquitous street food found in several parts of China and South East Asia. Some calls this SATAY.
Welcome to Beijing!
I've been here myself for 5 years now. Never lived in the hutongs though. Its great that you have control of your heating there!
I am from HK and l lived in Shanghai alone for 7 years on and off in the early 2000s. I tried to keep myself busy but sometimes I really got too much time but it seems to me that you never get bored.
So cool. Being an Aussie Chinese, it's been so good following your videos and learning about my cultural heritage. Keep up the good work. Those Hutong laneways puts Melbourne laneways to shame haha
Amy has taught me many Chinese things that I would not have known.
Melbourne laneways do have its charm as well. But media in the west have this constant dystopian view of Chinese places being filled with filth and poverty.
just in case some of you think hutong or siheyuan is another name of slum area, in fact the property prices of sihuyuan are extremely expensive, some of them cost many (30+) million USD.
btw this loft hutong is just like a gem in a stone, gald you found it.
Hello Amy, I have heard you find your dream hutong house few weeks ago, I am so excited can actually see it today. It’s so beautiful and cozy, I hope you enjoy it
I am so happy for you!! I'd LOVE to visit China some day. Thanks for your content and hard work!
Hutong is looking so much different when we r there back in 2015. Can't wait visiting China again. BTW, Zhuhai is still my favorite city in China:=))
I am a newly Zhuhai citizen, love to see your comment.
WOW~珠海是我的老家,太开心了,你能知道珠海的存在。🙆😘虽然我现在在广州。
ZhuHai got very good rating of livable city.
Zhuhai is extremely great for living, only problem is that the prices are also going up up up. It used to cost a lot cheaper when I was a kid (granted choices were more limited). Now, it's gotten expensive!!!
Far out Amy, you are living the dream!! 👏
if my family and I (fellow Aussies) make it over when the visa situation finally improves, (& end up teaching in Beijing) we sooo want to meet up with you for coffee! you’d be the best guide! haha
The first food Amy with get you to eat will be chicken feets & century egg 👍😆
@@djdad2482 Yes DJ, these are great stuff, and once Amy gets over the idea of dismal parts or enthrals they are intriguing. And century eggs; it's just the name. Goes well with pickled ginger which masks the ammoniac odour. Hope she has tried these, like you have. Even more exotic (and I think rare) is camel's hoofs. This one takes even more courage though I don't recommend it (bcoz camels are rarer). Kudos DJ. Bravo Amy.
It exudes warmth and exclusivity no high-rise apartment can compare with. Congratulations!
That's wonderful Amy... I am not sure when you got your new place but you are posting it on the 7th of the new year of the Tiger, so yeah, new year, new place... simply amazing...
I got it just before new year!!! So indeed, new year new place :)
Congratulations and I hope you will be very happy there. I didn't think the monthly rent was that bad, considering where you are and the fact it is brand new. In London, you might get a flatshare or a dustbin all to yourself. Be happy.
Wow, you're got a house. It's got a table, chairs and everything. How wonderful for you. How very wonderful.
I was higher up in an apartment myself, but I was told that if I ever had smells wafting up from the plumbing in the bathroom to get a drain cover for when you're not using the shower. You can also sometimes easily make a loop in the drainage hose under your bathroom sink and that creates a water pocket to block smells from drifting up. Your home is beautiful! I hope you are very happy there!
Wow I really wish they kept Beijing more intact including the massive walls, modern stuff is cool but old historical Beijing is truly something unique
Congratulations! What a warm and lovely home!
probably not the first to say it, cover the drains with rubber mats or something similar when not showering. Stopper the sink and put some water in it also (especially at night)
This little flat looks super cozy! You've just decorated it like those fancy Airbnbs and it's been my dream to have my future little home furnished like this! Hope I can do it as well as you did! Great job Amy!!!
As a native Chinese I've never been able to visit Hu Tong in Beijing. Thanks for sharing so I can take a glance of it without even being there. I love the atomsphere of the great and interesting things throughout your video. Keep it up and post more.
I recommend checking out the bar Yan Jia 2 Hao(燕家2号)! Its located in the Qian Men hutongs. The place looks amazing, it combines modern renovations mixed with classic hutong architecture.
2018 we visted China on self organized grand tour !!! first place 4 nights Hutong guest house mad taxi ride from airport turned into Hutong street what a cultural shock from UK but turned out wonderful place and people great time in Beijing and rest of 18 day tour
Congrats. It's a lovely apartment, and the neighborhood seems fun.
I moved from Beijing to Sydney a few years ago and now I watch your awesome videos whenever I feel homesick. I hope you keep enjoying your life and keep sharing your experience there. A big thank you from down under.
Thanks
Have a wonderful prosperous and many wonderful years in China. The Chinese are blessed to have such a wonderful person in the country. Wish yo all the success in your wonderful new home and new adventures.😄😄😄
China has many wonderful people just on their own,, but yes Blondie adds that special touch
@@jennyohara4011 They have also Eileen Gu the American Chinese ski star for the Beijing Olympics !
Congratulations! Sooo happy for you! I grew up in 米市 Hutong, guess what, the best part living in Hutong is your neighbours! I still remember we shared foods, they took care of me when my parents were busy, we didn’t even have to lock the door when going out! I’ve moved to HK for 15 years, how I miss Beijing, and life in Hutong.!!😭
Being watching your posts a lot. You are such cheerful personality, every video is happy to watch, always get delighted! I have quite a few Aussie friends. The pandemic made us hard to see each other. Really missed them.
Such a nice cozy apartment, congrats! I'm a native Beijinger living in NYC right now. So nice to see your content and I absolutely feel your lifestyle as a foreigner living in New York.
Wish you have a wonderful life in Beijing and enjoy your new home. Thank you so much for your good job showing us the new China.
Thanks Paul! So sweet!
@@BlondieinChina Wow, you make my day, Amy. I have left many comments on TH-cam but you’re the first TH-camr to reply me, thank you so much.
I work in Dongcheng District, which should be no more than 5km away from you. Your house is great. I also lived in Siheyuan three years ago. It feels good to go out in an alley, which has the flavor of old Beijing
CongratulTions Amy! Go fir it and don’t let anyone shoot down your dream. Well done! Go for it girl! Love it!
Thank you Kim!!!
So glad you got a place that you like. I have love all your videos you posted over the years, especially on travelling, food.
Stone rubbing is FAB!
Enjoy your tiny hutong house! It's adorbs 😍
Nice, warm and cozy place. Just right for an individual.
Wow absolutely love it!! Hope to move there one day too
Welcome to hutong living. Welcome to Beijing. Be safe. Be healthy. Be blessed.
Thanks!
So happy for you Amy you deserve that lovely apartment after all your hard work. I very proud of you. Chris in Australia.
喬遷之喜 !!! 恭喜恭喜 !!! Wish much Health, Happiness and Prosperity at this new location !!!
Loved your hutong home, it gives some inspiration how to carve a tiny space into a warm nest. Hope you enjoy it .
Such a cute place you have there. Totally opened my eyes to what a hutong house can be decorated into. Lots of great finishing touches. Thanks sooooo much for sharing.
Wow! What a cosy place you got Amy! Very comfy for single or couples to live in. Like the skylight very much. Take care & with love from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Congrats on your warm & cozy new home. So exciting! Now, for some good food...
The apartment looks real nice ☺️ how lucky to have the price reduced too! It was meant for you! I live in Hangzhou and paid 3250 for a similar apartment to yours when I first moved here...so when you said the original price of 7800, I screamed! 🤣 Enjoy your new home xx
Loads of fun and adventure exploring your new digs. ... Cheers...
Congratulations on your new home, Blondie Amy! You are living a very exciting life... Full respect.
Despite how small the house is, at least it looks fancy and preserved with a traditional Chinese atmosphere. 🏠
Wow, the external appearance is oldish but the interior is as modern as you'd find in Melbourne CBD.
Congrats Amy for finding a perfect Hutong house! I recommended your channel to my Aussie co-worker. Thank you for all the great content!
Thank you so much, Anne!
谢谢!
This place is SO cute, I would totally live there too. I was thinking about you earlier when I was on my way home from Uni in the CBD of Melbourne. There is a place on Swanston Street that I have been wanting to eat at but didn't know what it was called until I went past on the tram tonight; it's called Colourful Yunan. I couldn't remember what you said about Yunan food, so I came home to look through your videos and saw the new vid. Serendipity!
Swanston Street is so close to Victoria market, great place for a sunny weekend afternoon
I really enjoyed this. I love your hutong. And your enthusiasm for life.
Your video always brings many happiness to me, thank you!
Thanks for showing us your comfortable and cosy apartment. I feel so happy for you. Take care and God bless.
OMG the cafe asthetics is so cool! Bwahahahaha i was thinking the ancient picture looked very cool and then you told me its about chinese bbq and i laughed hahahahaha how befitting for you as a foodie 😂 Congratulations! You're new place definitly looks very welcoming and cozy :D
was smiling the whole time watching this video. You give off such a happy and pleasant vibe. Enjoyed it very much. Thank you
So glad to see you enjoy living in Beijing! Can't wait to see more fun videos in this year. Good luck and best wishes!
Supercool video Amy. Enjoyed. Beijing Hutongs are our favorite. We too really enjoyed exploring them. 6500 rmb in 2nd ring road is good deal. 👍
Congratulations for your new place and please more updates your area 🙏🏼
It looks amazing! You are so lucky to find something so cozy and complete for this price in Beijing. Enjoy!
what an amazing place, looks so homely and cosy. Please post up a neighbourhood tour!
Congrats on ur cozy new home. Its very suits single or a couple to live in. Things looks newly renovated and clean. Though the shower room is small but it looks clean and the wall tiles look nice. Love ur abalone dink and the surprise paper copy inscription., very meaningful to have such a long history pictures with you
Resembling a warm and cozy home indeed. Kudos, and hope that it will bring you the necessary creature comforts for the creative juices to flow. Wishing you a safe and Roarin' Year of the Tiger ... Cheers!
Watching Amy's videos makes me miss my childhood. 胡同, 糖葫芦和煎饼the sources of joy in my childhood.
Congrats on your new home in Beijing and your new home has a great layout.
Thank you!!!
Enjoy your life in China. It makes me recall my old days when living in Beijing for 1 month 22 years ago, alone but fun and unforgettable!
OMG, that's awesome, totally awesome. I want to live in a house like that~
It looks so much better now living in a hutong in Beijing. My mom grow up living in one, they didn't even have bathrooms in the house, so everyone need to use the public one.
congratulations!! looks like you got a great deal and a great roaring start to the year of the tiger
This makes me so happy. I look forward to returning to China. It has been a place for adeventure for me. I look forward to going back and sharing my knowledge in education and learning from Chinese educators.
Your new home is so cute. Love it!
Congratulations to you! So excited for all your new adventures! My husband saw another Aussie transplant living in China. She found out that cleaning her drain helped that smell. Apparently it hadn’t been cleaned out and when she put I. The elbow grease to do it, it no longer smelled in her bathroom.
妈哟最喜欢blond姐视频了 真是接地气 大方自信!
Wow, it is vitalization of Hutongs in Beijing. It is cool !!!
Congratulations on finding a place in the Hutong! Excellent video, I visited Beijing in 2017 and have since always thought of spending two or three months with my family, my wife and 4yr old daughter, living in a hutong. Wonder what is the cost for a slightly larger place, but still small and quaint like yours. Thanks for the great content!
I loved visiting the Hutongs when I was in Beijing in 2019. So unique and interesting. Laneway living which is now a big thing in cities like Toronto as people try and find affordable housing.
You can tell that carpet is so warm and comfortable just by looking from the video 😂
I lived in Xuzhou for 6 months! I never hear it mentioned! I used to buy the best mini baozi there. Good memories. Hope you enjoy your new place! 😊
Oh wow, would expect more collaborations from Amy and Mr and Mrs Nicos and much more neighbourhood gossips.
En ese apartamento no hay suficiente espacio para la inmensa alegría de vivir que irradias bella Aussie. Me encanta que te hayas movido ahí, así podremos disfrutar con tu jovial y adorable perspectiva del corazón genuino de la gente de Beijing. Gracias bella Blondie 🌹🙏❤️💐
The apartment is so cute!!! I love the aesthetic and vibe of the colors and layout 😍
