- Pati explores the culinary highlights of Jalisco’s capital city, Guadalajara. She starts at a legendary street cart for a taste of the city’s most iconic sandwich, tortas ahogadas. Then, she meets up with one of the city’s best chefs, Fabian Delgado, to see how he’s setting new expectations for the market food experience. In her kitchen, Pati makes bolillos and a torta (called lonche in Jalisco) filled with a local staple, tatemado de puerco. Guadalajara is such a wonderful combination of new and old. I would love to visit again! But for now, will try this recipe.
I wish her show were on the food network! This is authentic Mexican food!!!
I like Pati Jinich. She's phenomenal.
❤
She’s a treasure.
She's a people person her personality
Spent my honeymoon in Guadalajara in 1971. We drove from Tucson AZ to Guadalajara. The best food was always to be found in all the little stands that doted highways & throughout the city.
OMG everything looks delicious. The bolillos are now a standard at grocery stores, at least in Texas and Arizona. It’s amazing how we have shaped the products cooked at grocery stores. 10 years ago you could ask for dulce de leche cakes but there were none to be had. Now they are sold everywhere. The power of the consumer!!! Of course I’m going to want to bake my own fresh bolillos!! Thank you!
My mouth waters!!!!! Every time you cook Pati!!!! Incredible!
We just got back from a weekend In Guadalajara and I already want to go back! The food was sooo good, flavorful, and spicy! Can’t wait to try this recipe pati!

@@patijinich Question, but is dragonfruit's flavor comparable/similar to any fruits commonly found in America? When it was popping out of its peel, it kind of reminded me of a strawberry so I guess I imagined it to taste like a strawberry. And please let me say, I like your programming. You have great passion for the food and everything looks delicious.
Pati, I love your shows! We watch them everyday at 5:30

I spent many summers in Guadalajara back in the 60's and 70's. There was a restaurant chain named Carne's Asada Piopilo. Simple basic meats grilled handmade tortillas..mmmm
Pipiolo's are still in business.
Absolutely love to watch all your awesome episodes of making great authentic Mexican recipes!..👏👏👏

Delicious:) I miss California, just to be a little closer to beautiful Mexico. The beautiful people and food, with so much love. I love the place you went to visit. The man was so generous and wanted to feed you everything. That what makes him happy and I loved seeing the beautiful recipes.
Excelente cocinera con una explicación estupenda.
Thank you for showing food from Guadalajara my city

Hi Pati, I’m dying to try this recipe out but I am not sure how much of each spice to put in, it didn’t say on the video. Can you help me?
Of course, here is the full recipe for you: patijinich.com/chile-charred-pork-sandwich/
Sorry pati.. I’m a huge fan of.. Guadalajara rules….
😇✌🙏
I wonder if she removes the seeds & veins from the chile de arbol?
I don't :)
Holis holis que te digo mju mju oh no cuánta ricura like likes
👍
How do you make arroz con leche
Aqui te va mi receta, espero que te guste :) patijinich.com/es/arroz-con-leche/
I heard on the news: "No more avocados from Mexico into the US". Pati, tell me it ain't so!
I think the situation is different know :)
@@patijinich Yes it is. Thank goodness!
We love you🐦....Your the Tom Brady...not tom and brady........Get way more respect than Both....🐤🐥🐣
I was surprised that when you made the bolillos that you didn't use any kind of fat such as lard, shortening, or oil. Did you just not mention it or does this recipe not use any?
You are correct, I don't use any :)
Ok, after one thousand non youtube commercials 😑😑
Pati I enjoy your cooking shows delicious but I have a question why is your accent so different from the other Mexicans?
Mmm. MMmm. Um-hmm. Mmm-Hmm. Umm!!! It kinda says it all.
Is that young man, JuJu???
Yes! Can you believe?
You say Mayo, are you sure ??? Tortas ahogadas no llevan mayonesa, llevan frijoles fritos.😉
I do not add mayo to my tortas ahogadas, here is my recipe for you :) patijinich.com/tortas-ahogadas/
Mayo in a torta ahogada? that is sacrilege! the guy is going to hell. Tortas ahogadas are made on birote roll, with a spread of refried beans, carnitas, red onion feathered, and bathed with Yahualica chile de árbol salsa (very hot). No Mayo, no tomato salsa, nothing else.
Thanks for the video Pati, but next time ask people who have lived in Guadalajara all their life, real Tapatios, to get references about the places to get the authentic Torta Ahogada (with no mayo, no cilantro and just one salsa) with frijoles fritos, carnitas, feathered red onion and chile de arbol salsa made with real chile de arbol from Yahualica (which is protected by Denomination Of Origin) they build the torta ahogada spreading frijoles fritos on the inside of the birote, then fill it with carnitas and hold it with tongs and fully DIP it in the deep pot with thick chile de arbol salsa (they drown the torta in the salsa, hence the name of the torta) and lastly the feathered red onion on top, that's it, no mayo, no three salsas, no cilantro. Warning: the real chile de arbol salsa is VERY hot, not all Mexicans can eat it. And about the "chef" in the Mercado, he is a snake-oil salesman; he told you a bunch of lies, and he speaks with a Mexico City accent, not a real Tapatio...
What you call "Dragon Fruit" is Pitaya, a very sweet and juicy fruit grown in the towns around the outskirts of Lake Chapala, very close to Guadalajara, and they are only available from the second half of April until the first half of June (once the first rains come the fruit rots in the plant). From a real Tapatio.
She changes recopies to not authentic Mexican
Patti. Far too much meat in your program. More than half of people world wide are vegetarian but do eat seafood You need to catch up with the VC times.
your cooking looks like someone died and you put toppings on it
