Nintendo should definitely give ARMS another chance. I think that if they really played their cards right in a sequel, ARMS could become a household name.
I was thinking about that today, I actually played the basketball mode because I love basketball, and I was so disappointed. So, I thought to myself, this game should get a sequel.
6:33 They actually fixed this in a update. In a separate menu, they gave you the ability to have all Arms unlocked for all characters from the get-go, you just couldn’t play publicly online with it. It was specifically for Tournaments and Friend Play.
I absolutely adore ARMS! It has so much stylistic charm. The lively music, the artwork, the creative premise, the diverse cast of characters, the lore, etc. They have a solid framework here with so much potential. It would be a huge waste not to make a sequel that fixes the issues people had with the first. Add more content and give players more reason to want to play it. Make it happen, Nintendo!
Arms sold well 2.72 million that's more then xenoblade, bayonetta, pikmin and most fire emblem and metroid games. The game also has a passionate director in a prominent position at nintendo so an arms sequel isn't out of the realm of possibility.
I also do think another factor to consider on why ARMS hasn't been getting much in awhile is also because the same development team behind this game (EPD 9) is also known for doing the "Mario Kart" series (which Yabuki has also been heavily involved on since Mario Kart Wii within various roles in other later entries, but he was a Director and/or Producer for 7 & 8). After ARMS was done content-wise back in December 2017, they mostly we're doing QoL updates and Party Crashes (which we're like Splatfests, but only just against the fighters in the game) until in late 2018 they held a big tourney-style Party Crash event with all 15 fighters which lasted until late 2019 where Min Min won the event (coincidentally months before Smash Ultimate revealing Min Min). But afterwards, the team mostly shifted back to Mario Kart with some of it's staff doing Mario Kart Tour, then years later getting the MK8D DLC just 5 years after it's release at the same time as Tour doing more content. Funny enough, both games are stopping with content this year. While it's possible ARMS 2 is still in the table for the new console, it's likely they're priority is just on a proper brand-new Mario Kart title as people have been clamoring on one for years.
I mean it’s essentially a Boxing game with a bunch of extra mechanics and twists. It’s less of a traditional Fighting Game and more of a Sports game (like Tennis), which was the producer’s intention. It’s like saying in Mario Tennis, most everyone plays the same. It’s a Tennis game, they all play like Tennis players. The characters in this game act more like Classes in a Shooter. Though trust me, as someone with over 2,000 Hours in the game, there’s a lot of complexity within the simplicity. It just all depends on if the core game hooks you enough to want to master it, that’s where the real depth comes in.
it hit me when you put kid icarus uprising on the pile of left-behind franchises, such an amazing game with an insanely good story :( a sequel, remake or even just a switch port would've been awesome but I doubt it'll ever come back if not on the switch...
I adored this game at release and today I played it for the first time in a couple years, it’s such a nostalgia trip but it is a little sad that online lobbies have gone from being completely filled out to only having 3 or 4 other players max. I hope nintendo gives it another shot in the future with a sequel but I’m not holding out hope for that, especially given the unique control scheme that would be hard to replicate on a system that doesn’t use Joycons.
Dude, I will never forgive the gaming community for letting ARMS fall between the floorboards I can’t foresee myself getting the Next Gen Switch, but if ARMS 2 was announced for it I would buy it like it was nobody’s business

Arms was fun but I feel like it was too simple to catch on. Even with the different arms and characters there wasn't a huge difference between them
