    My dearest friend has just been told she needs a colostomy and I am researching so I can be a support to her. Outside of her family I am the only who knows so I feel compelled to do whatever I can to educate myself. She is a warm weather, sun and sand girl and seeing someone as young as you, with all these great videos is something I can't wait to share with her because I know your videos will help her immensely, as they are helping me. Thanks for putting it out there!

    I had my large all taken out and most of my small in 2009, I had my bag reversed... and now I still feel very up and down. I have my good days and my very bad days. It is looking like I will need to have another operation and get a permanent one. I think you are beautiful and a huge inspiration to lots of people. I wish you all the best with your battle and I hope you have a amazing life.

    A beacon of light is what you are! :]Thank you.
    So, last summer while I was on internship in Germany I found out. Long story short-had to go to the hospital in the small town I was at, very little English was spoken, and it was very frightening. Probiotics and fish oil are helping currently, and very luckily I have not yet had to have surgery. My Doctor has decided to reserved surgery as a very last resort.
    To anyone that has this, I say to you- Continue going after your goals. Do NOT stop.

    Always sorry to hear of really young people like yourself who get the dreaded CD.
    I had intermittent intestinal trouble years before I actually had CD diagnosed when I was 26. In remission eight and half years, then returned with a vengeance till I had surgery when I was 43. A couple more surgeries since and been doing well on Remicade and Imuran. Good luck!

    I have heard of this happening before, complications after eating after surgery. Someone I know, their mother had a re-anastomosis and the doctors told her she could eat whatever she wanted to after the surgery. She ate lasagna, ended up in the ER that night. They kept her waiting for about 7 hours. It was a bowel obstruction and by the time they got to her, her colon had necrotized and she ended up having to have it removed. Why do they tell people to eat like that?

  • @LetsTalkIBD
    @LetsTalkIBD  14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @corneliogreermedia wellll lower the amounts of soda, gum, and fiber. I where normal clothes, just empty my bad alot to keep it flat. There are also belts that kind of look like undershirts which you can try, and I wear camis alot to smooth out the bag under my shirt. I was definitely scared to look at it a first, but over time I became used to it, and now its not a big deal to me! (: and I feel the same way too, it'll be weird not having it!

  • @LetsTalkIBD
    @LetsTalkIBD  12 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    @mushMOSSABBIR If you need the bag, definitely go for it! It seems so scary but when you've had it for a couple of months you'll be wondering why you were so worried. I hope everything turns out well for you - let me know if you get the surgery!

  • @LetsTalkIBD
    @LetsTalkIBD  13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    @leahcrow1 I've never had them myself personally but crohn's can run from your mouth all the way down the line, so you got yourself some mouth ulcers! ): I would use the same medicine you would use for like canker sores, they make paste that you would put on the areas and its supposed to help. But as soon as they get the right meds for you that'll start to go away

  • @LetsTalkIBD
    @LetsTalkIBD  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @leahcrow1 and keep in touch if you have any questions let me know, but don't worry you've been through most of the tests you're almost done :)

  • @LetsTalkIBD
    @LetsTalkIBD  13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @leahcrow1 Oh thats rough! In the beginning though they make you take alot of tests, and you'll probably have to take a few more tests if you're getting surgery but the good thing is once they do surgery, most people come out of completely different and feeling amazing. You might not have to get surgery though, in the beginning it takes awhile to find the right meds and the right diet for you, but itll be over soon enough and you'll be able to live your life again! I hope everything goes well!!

    I've had crohns for 3 years now, and even though I didn't go through all those kinds of tests, I know it can be rough. I had to get an emergency surgery about 5 months after I was diagnosed with crohns. I do feel a lot better now with the iliostomey and even though I still have other symptoms from my medicines and low immune system we still got to fight through it. I'm glad there are people like you who have the courage to talk about this! :)

    Wow hun...you've really been through it. I haven't had crohn's for as long as you have. But I can only hope and pray that it stays where it is right now...which is good! I am extremely lucky. I will make a video response so you can hear my story. Mine is horrible, just in a different way. I was just wondering, have your G.I. doctors ever put you on Imuran?? I am still taking my prednisone, I am trying to get off of it. I'm down to below 5 mg, but this Imuran has helped me gain weight.

    I'm 11 years old and in 5th diagnosed with chrons a month ago and here's my story: In school I started having terrible pain. Then around Christmas time I had pain and high fevers and I lost 25 pounds( I was a skeleton 2) Then I had about 20 different tests run the final being colon/endoscopy. They figured out I had chrons and put me on imuran, pentasa, and predisone. But now I'm on my last week of predisone and I'm a healthy 74 pounds again! PS my face is so big and I hate it! Please respond!

    Hey I really like your channel and I appreciate the advice on UC. I am 20 and was recently diagnosed with it and have struggled to cope with it myself. The weakness, tiredness, restlessness, constant intestinal pain, and people saying I have explosive diarrhea can really get exhausting so I really appreciate your video. To help take my mind off my sickness and pain I created an iPhone game called Box of Lies that is a 2 Truths 1 Lie Trivia game if anyone is interested.
    I just thought I would mention it because it would really make my day to see others playing it and also I have been extremely stressed out about how I am going to pay for my medical expenses on top of my living expenses on top of my college expenses since I still can’t hold down a job but if you are not interested that is fine. As for the people in the comments section, please keep sharing your stories as they are really helpful. And LetsTalkIBD, keep posting great videos. Have A great rest of your day!

    I had an ileostomy to. But for different reasons not beacause of crohn's disease I had peptic ulcer disease in my stomach (for the second time but suprisingly for the first time I had that disease I didn't need an ostomy). I had my ostomy for 4 months (and yes I still have colon) then I got reconnected on December of 2010.

    In Dec 2005 I was diagnosed with sever Colitis. I was 17. Kept having flairs, but medication would take care of it. Then In the summer of 2010 my body stopped responding to the drugs. I had to have my entire colon and rectum removed on July 17, 2010. I had an ilio anal pouch (J-Pouch) created during that surgery. I am going to be going into surgery to fix a complication with the pouch to hopefully save it so I can have my internal collection system connected. I Vlogged everything on my channel.

It seems stupid to me since I have so much pain hat I need pain medicine every four hours...I have had a colostomy for 20 ish years . It is considered reversible, or was but I never seem to get that well. I ate broth about an hour and a half ago and so far nada, except I feel a slight burning in my gut area.
