Yep. I worked in cruise ships for abt 8 yrs. No days off for a 9-10 month contract. It was brutal. And if heaven doesn't favor you, ur ass will be sent in a ship that runs the 3-4 day cruises. Disaster.
@liliXmineI worked in entertainment on a very short, 3 month fill-in contract and knew immediately that would be my one and only. And my contract was comparatively good as far as ship contracts go, and we went interesting places. So that was good. But the lifestyle is not for me. I don’t know how people do it for years and years.
I sailed with you guys out of Port Canaveral on Dec 13th. Wonderful ship, horrible weather. While I'm glad we were able to see the Utopia, we'll be sticking to the smaller ships on longer cruises in the future. Thank you guys for an amazing cruise!

I can see how no days off might have worked for seasonal jobs in the past but now the workload is different and bigger. They should change that to rotation or longer shifts with a day or two off.
I knew too many people who went into entertainment work on cruises to ever consider going on one, let alone applying for a job on one. Totally understand that for some it can be worth it, but I don't know a single person who did even a year contract and didn't come back sick and with lifelong injuries and trauma. I recently learned there’s no days off, I don’t think I can do that, lol. More prayers to all crew members who don’t get a day off and are always so cheerful! Merry Christmas, can’t wait to see how this is for crew
Yeah but sometimes the work is less exhausting. At least that's how it is in my ship, we mostly do 8-8 and it was a balanced schedule for us. What's best was we had a lot of manpower so the work wasn't that bad, the only bad part about it was every few months we would have sudden change in the shifts due to docking and we would have to readjust our sleep schedule, which took 1-2 days. The very best part was we had long breaks, 2 hours 15 minutes in fact (don't ask me why). Some will take a nap during that time.

what they don‘t really tell you about working on a cruise ship as well as those excursions, is that not everyone gets to go to them. Yes, you can submit your „application“, however it‘s more of of a „if you get lucky, you go“ (at least on the cruise ship Mein Schiff). And especially if you work as a waitress on such ship, you can be very lucky to have an early shift, so that you can sleep/go outside in the afternoon, before your evening shift starts :)
This guy is a walking ad for this company lmao. He makes this job look so good. In reality you will be overworked, most working days are 12-13hours. First 5-6 weeks you will feel like a zombie. Days off? Hahahha lool. Oh and that single cabin 😂😂😂😂😂 99.9% of the crew has a bunk bed cabin. If you wanna take this job because you want to travel - forget about it. You will be so tired that only thing you will be thinking about during those few hours off will be bed. Dont trust anything he says lol, ask people who actually had a job on a ship, and were not making videos on social media. I guarantee they will tell you the same thing as i did lol
He began the video by saying the crew get no days off. I don’t think he’s doing that great of a job. Neither is he being inaccurate. Also, don’t trust anything he said is absolutely stupid. The entertainment team has a lot more perks than the dining room or housekeeping teams. Because the entertainment team generally performs at night, they get more time off than the other teams mentioned. The other 2 teams mentioned have a stricter schedule simply because our guests need to eat and have clean staterooms, so our schedules are usually more hectic and much longer. The entertainment team are allowed to eat in the guest areas such as the buffet and other restaurants, the other two teams don’t have that privilege. The entertainment team can participate in guests excursions, the other 2 teams mentioned are usually working when these excursions are taking place. As Jordan have said quite often in her videos, the privileges that are available to them onboard is definitely not a reflection of life onboard for all crew members. Most crew members are not allowed in guest areas unless they’re working. The entertainment team can lounge at the guest pool when they don’t have shows or other assigned duties, they can use guest gyms etc.
