I saw James in 1968. This was his closing song and he worked it for 20 minutes. He was called the hardest working man in showbiz. I've never seen anyone get the crowd worked up like him in the early days.
James Brown plus the JBs changed music forever but dont get hardly any recognition. They are my favourite band of all-time. Thanks to all those JBs still living for your art !
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE was his first hit in 1956. This live performances from 1964 on THE TAMI SHOW. He was 31 years around here and he just started doing the Cape Routine like maybe a year before. The Rolling Stones, another ask where on the show and James Brown was pissed off pissed off because they gave The Rolling Stones too billing. They were scheduled to follow this performance of his. So he said he was going to make them wish they never came to America. 😂 They did not want to follow this, but they have no choice. Please react to these other three songs from the same show. OUT OF SIGHT, PRISONER OF LOVE and especially NIGHT TRAIN, which has his most incredible dancing captured on film!
I remember the first time I saw him on T.V. I was absolutely mesmerized. We had never seen anything like James and probably never will again. Musical genius. # mister dynamite #godfather of soul etc…
Michael Jackson was a huge James Brown fan. JB could dance like crazy. If you watch him perform "I Got the Feelin'" and THEN watch The Jackson 5's audition tape for Motown, you'll see how a very young Michael Jackson picked up JB's moves. Insane!
I had the pleasure of seeing him live in Birmingham Alabama in 1967. It was awesome!!!! Still want you to view his duet with Pavarotti. He was older and still had IT.
I (LOVE) ME SOME (GODFATHER) OF "SOUL" MR. JAMESSSSS BROWN". HIS HIGH ENERGY WAS WILD TO 😜 WATCH. I BELIEVE "PRINCE" COPY HIS (DANCE) MOVES IN HIS (DANCE). RIP 🙏 MR. BROWN
Now that you've seen this, Tim, you've GOT TO see Eddie Murphy's impersonation of James Brown at the hot tub on Saturday Night Live. It's comic gold....a classic.
This concert happened at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. The Rolling Stones had to follow James Brown and they did not want to and I don't blame them a bit.
Those pants were called chinos (chee nos). Lots of hair spray kept his hair in place! Love James Brown ❤️. Then, when my daughter was an infant 25 years ago, James Brown was her favorite bath time music, all 3 1/2 pounds of her! Her Dad and I would sing and dance while giving her a bath in the kitchen sink. She was too small for anywhere else. James Brown was said to have calmed everyone in Atlanta after the death of MLK. Not certain of the city... but he was able to change his show around to help people instead of fueling the situation.
Imagine having to follow this. The Rolling Stones had to follow this and maaaaaaaaan. This whole show is incredible - it's on here, if you want to give it a look and enjoy the incredible showmanship. There's another famous performance of his from this show: "Night Train." Definitely check that out.
What would be very interesting movie to see is about Frankie Lymon. He was part of a group in the 50's. The movie and song are called, "Why Do Fools Fall in Love".
@@PaulDA2000 I'm a fan of alot of groups and singers but I have not heard everything that they have sung. Because I say that I'm a fan doesn't mean I have his collection.
@@sharians-bluesky oh, OK I understand but most people know somebody’s first song if they are a fan, like if somebody said they were an Elvis fan and said they never heard of HOUND DOG that would seems funny too. But of course everybody’s not a huge fan like I am. Is there a certain part of his career that you like the best? The funk stuff or other types of his music?
Just as a suggestion, look up the original 1956 recording on TH-cam. Or on Spotify or whatever platform you have? It’s interesting to see how it evolves from 1956 until 1964 and then he actually sang the song throughout the rest of his career until he passed away in 2006 at his shows. he changed the arrangement beginning in the mid-1960s in his live shows to a faster arrangement.
James Brown taught men how to beg! I saw him in concert back in the 60's and this performance set the auditorium on fire! We did not want to leave! LOL!
The word “genius” is overused, but it fits for James Brown. Amazing and unique musician, singer, dancer, and performer who changed the future of music. Popular music of today would be very different if he had never existed.

@ Pangea Truth. Same here. 1968 at the Branford Theatre in Newark NJ. It was unforgettable.
Your favorite dancer MJ absolutely adored and idolized James Brown 😉🔥
I never could get tired of watching this.

The guy with him is Danny Ray. He was the famous “cape man” among many other things. He was with Mr. Brown over 40 years until Mr. Brown passed away.
"" Hardest Working Man in Show Business", Godfather of Soul!
James Brown was wild! A real showman.
I can’t believe James Brown has less than 1000 views and less than 100 likes here! And I’m looking at this the day after you posted it 😮
This whole show is nuts! The Rolling Stones perform and they are kids!
The drummer did his thang too 🔥
The TAMI Show is just amazing - every artist is great.

I got to see this man perform live less than a year before he died. He WAS the hardest working man in show business! He was fantastic.
Man what I wouldn't give to have had the opportunity to see him live! That really must have been something.
@@dianeouellette3571 He never stopped. That was one of the best purchases of my life.
2 of my favorites "It's a man's world" and "I got you"

Best PART 2:50 GET UPP BROWN GET UPPP
The one and only James Brown!! Back in the day he was as much of a showman as MJ. 😎
I had never heard this song by James Brown and I am a fan. I looked up "Please, Please, Please" and it was his 1st hit in 1956. Amazing performer 🌟!
That’s kind of unusual that you never heard of this song and you’r a fan. This is one of his most famous songs.

Classic performance 👌
I saw him perform at the famous Howard University when I was 8 years old. Thanks to my older sister. The live performance was memorable
My husband always watching James brown and doing James dances ! James was always screaming Hey!
I love James Brown.
James Brown taught men how to beg! I saw him in concert back in the 60's and this performance set the auditorium on fire! We did not want to leave! LOL!
That was a fire performance
James Brown was such a perfectionist that he would fine his musicians if they made mistakes.
That man is hurting and yet he still comes back and lays it all out there for us.
One of my fav James Brown live performances
The swag was out of this world
Soul man soul man ❤
Check out Night Train from this same show and watch him moonwalk with one foot! Some of his best dancing.
Ronettes “Be My Baby “
The greatest showman of all time next to Michael & Prince (who were also fully influeced by him)
you have to watch the entire 17 minutes of this performance. Sill can't be touched...

That hair was conked or processed. Ask a salon, they'll know.
