So a great country celebrating July 4th 1776 independence in a country born on October 18th 1867. Won't acknowledge 1 million homeless tent people. 2 million prisoners. Half a billion guns. 1164 train derailments in 2022. Over 400 mass shootings in 2023. Two battling geriatric presidents that suffer from dementia. Spreading UFO crap and religious rubbish.
I've had to explain the same thing about derby cars, especially with the newer compact/4 cylinder cars. While they frequently run and move the majority of them are unfit for the road for one reason or another. Alot of derby guys will repair rusty cars to derby but most of the time the way its done doesn't make them roadworks. Alot of them also have enough just general wear and tear that's been over looked or put off for long enough that they're just not financially practical to repair to a road worthy state. I also get alot of my derby cars in areas that have extended periods of emissions testing. Those cars will often run drive and stop but will often require costly work to make them meet emissions requirements. Frequently get theft recoveries that have been written off by insurance and then bought back. I derbied a Mercedes last year that I got because it was get older and the owner couldn't justify the upkeep anymore. $1700 for an alternator, $100+ for an oil change and over $500 for a tuneup on a 1995 4 cylinder Mercedes c220. They told me they were spending as much annually on upkeep as the annual payments on a Honda. They bought it new and are fans of the derby so they asked if I would send it out in a blaze of glory because they didn't want someone buying it and thinking they were getting a good cheap car and then not being able to afford the upkeep. But rarely are they decent roadworthy cars.
The NTSB and car manufacturers ought to be at this event with their Crash test dummies gathering information. Head ons and t-bones don't compare! These would most certainly be Fatal incidents, but one never knows. The human body is Amazing.
