Sorry for the loss of your everything! My wife found out she had cancer Aug 26th and 4 months latter she passed on Christmas Day night 2017. So I get a lot of confidence from these words I see practically everyday. IN GOD WE TRUST Dear LORD, I Pray for Everyone that has lost something precious, whatever it is because it doesn't matter what I think or feel or what "my plan" is. I’m reminded of the story of the boy throwing starfish back into the ocean one at a time. The beach was littered with hundreds of them. A man said to the boy, “ why bother, you can’t save them all”. The boy said “no, but it matters to this one” as he threw a starfish back in the water. Speaking as a person who has trama based PTSD, I cannot image the sheer terror these affected people are going through. Every hard rain, wind, lightning....every creek of trees. I pray mental health advocacy is in the area. My heart is aching and breaking for these people.

Newspaper is insulting. Stuff it in your clothes between layers. Send body and hand warmers they last 8 hours put in sleeping bags. Extra blankets and tarps on tents. Body heat, 5 in a tent to sleep close. Wool socks are very warm. Wool anything

It feels so good when we hear what our donations are doing as heaters and propane are a must with our temps plunging to 30 with snow and ice covering our WnC region . My heart Hurts for those living In tents. In Canton-Clyde, NC seeing a tiny tent behind the post office with a small American flag atop. It broke my heart and after dropping off warm clothing I cried all the way home. I will never forget that little tent.
What can we do to get the local churches to offer to house some of these people this winter? There are lots of fellowship halls and Sunday school classes in that area that could be temporary emergency housing for these folks for a few weeks.
@pinkiesue849 If all the churches in the immediate vicinity are seriously damaged there are lots of churches in the adjacent towns and counties that have heated ( and mostly unused) space that could be used as shelter for folks in this dire situation. I hope and pray that churches will step up. That IS the reason churches exist- to help those who have no one else to turn to.

I worried about the ones in tents.... not good, I experience one year camping in the mountains when it dropped to 30 degree at night, I believe it was lower than that. I had a Buddy heater, two sleeping bags, I was freezing, even though that heater was on high, it was very cold and couldn't sleep. My experience with that Buddy heater is that 1LB Propane Cylinder Tank did not last 4 hours, to make it last longer I set it on low, we all freezing, we didn't have good sleeping bags rated 30 or below degree, it was awful. Even at low setting that 1LB Propane Cylinder Tank did not last the night.

Your right they don't last long on a little cylinder but in an enclosed small room they are great. I love mine.
