Dear Andy : there is a brandnew (!) Song and live-Video of Emma, from a composer of the netherlands i guess. The Song and Performance of Emma, right a few days ago, again with Maestro André Rieux in his City of birth, Maastricht , is even more (!!!) heartouching and emotional and sensational. The Song is called : Dancing on the Stars! Original Video from Andre is out since 14 hours.
I would hardly recomment you to check it out immediately. But take care! There is a risk of a heart attack cause the Song and her Performance is sooo unique and hearttouching. I was speechless when I heard it.
It doesn t matter If you decide not to react to it, but I want only inform you in order to give you the great possibility to enjoy this outstanding Performance.
If you want to have a link of the Sensation please do not hesitate to inform me.
      Enjoy.
Well, and your reaction to the here presented Song... is top Level so as always and as already mentioned in my other comment a few days ago. Thank You very much and olease do not miss to check out the brandnew Song Sensation. One of the greatest Songs i heard, same level as never enough.

@@MasterofVoice This is the age of danger for her, in this industry. I hope her parents are strong, and have a great attorney. However, judging her performance with a Symphony... You will never forget Emma's performance. How could you? The first time I listened to this I thought I was listening to an 'angel' sing to me. Emma has become an inspiration to millions of people around the world, particularly those with physical and mental challenges, and they are beginning to try to do things they previously thought would be impossible to accomplish. Andre is doing his world tour right now and guess who is traveling with him? Yep, Emma. She can travel and her mother will administer all the work which has to be done on a daily basis to keep her going. If you read more about her you will find out she was bullied in school at an early age and how she coped with that dilemma. She is 15 years old and she is a wonderful human being whose courage and determination will not allow her condition to stand in her way to do what she wants to do with her life, to sing to us.
Nice to see you again! .

A Master conductor.. conducts his orchestra to follow his vocalists.

André often conducts his orchestra as a steh geige, that is while playing 1st violin with his back to the orchestra. Like they did in the time of Strauss. This means the orchestra is well experienced in following a soloist.

If you watch Maestor Rieu, he is watching her. The master of masters was himself being conducted by a 15 year old girl. You'll also notice the JSO gave her a standing ovation. Generally unheard of for any formal orchestra, let alone one as prestigious as the Johan Strauss... and we'll deserved.
Truth is that Maestro Rieu and the entire orchestra worked with Emma to completely rewrite the score and help her make it her own. Practice sessions were rumored to be complicated as it's difficult to play an instrument while leaking around the eyes. (And I happily proclaim to still do so after seeing her performance time after time.)
All in all an amazing and elegant young lady teamed up with an equally amazing orchestra and composer.

A wonderful reaction to Emma's epic performance of 'Voila'.
I don't know for sure, but I don't think Emma has had much formal training of her voice. For the most part, I think she sings with her natural voice, and relies on her immense natural talent in her interpretations of the songs she performs. As far as her stage presence goes, she appears to be an instinctual performer, simply doing what comes naturally to her. I am not for a moment suggesting that she does not work hard at her craft. Quite the opposite, she works very hard for perfection, and it shows.
Whatever is the case, she is clearly very, very good, extraordinary in fact. She is definately a young artist worth keeping an eye on. She is already mesmerizing audiences all over the world on tour with Maestro Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra, and what is truly astonishing is that she is only 16 years old. I think there are big things ahead for Emma.
Thanks again for a great reaction. All the best.

Her vocal range not only in means of tone or pitch, but also from delicate almost fragile to powerful with incredible support from her core using chest and head voice is simply amazing. And not to forget Emma doesn't (or at least at the time of this performance didn't) speak French, she learned and memorized the entire song phonetically. Simply amazing, and having played percussion (mainly drums) in a orchestra myself for almost 20 years, this is the kind of performance where I would gladly put down my drumsticks and enjoy, close my eyes and drift off to my happy place.
P.S. With her petite frame (partly due to her digestive disorder) and obviously this being a French song she keeps reminding me of Edith Piaf.
P.P.S. Good to hear everything is okay with you regarding your health. Ultimately our health is the greatest wealth we have, without it all the money or time in the world mean nothing.

I like your comment and I listened to this song on different channels again and again. WOW. WOW. WOW. This is WOW. Emotional and Mind blowing. I was really touched by your reaction too. You spoke of the beautiful lyrics. The lyrics fits Emma and you can feel her connecting to the song. I am still emotional every time I listen to this song. The whole entourage fits an contributes to the situation of Emma. I am Dutch and in understand the verbal interaction between Andre and Emma at the very end. Andre saying "Fantastisch", and Emma responding "Dank je wel". She there is so humble, vulnerable and delicate. You realize she is just a kid, making her performance even more fabulous.
You already comments to her new song, a new original song “Dancing on the stars”. Her whole being was in to that. I broke.... again.
Now i ask you, almost beg you to react to some other songs of Emma. You will love her, I promise.
Past years she was touring with Andre Rieu around the world. In between she did her version of Hallelujah with another orchestra in December still being 15. It is an amazing arrangement. She did an incredible performance. She made the song her own and she really gets to you.
And then this song "Father'. This is probably my favorite. And if you cant get enough, look at the songs she did, at the liberation concert 2023. In particular her performance with orchestra of "Father" a cover from Demi Lovato. She sings it to the all the (American) Veterans (of world War II) and giving me a whole new meaning to this powerful song of Demi Lovato. The video (with the white dress) is my favorite , it gives meaning and see in the background the 'sound man' breaking from the start, but genuinely crying at the end. It means something to him as it did to me.
P.s. If you don't know the lyrics of Father, find them on the internet. Demi wrote a powerful song with strong lyrics. I love how Emma gives her version meaning.

Andy, now I'm going to blow your fuses a little more, and mention that this video, from July 2023 was the first ever performance of the new version of Voila that was put together by Andre and Emma, a very different version of the original Barbara Pravi performance at Eurovision 2021, where it came second. The orchestra had huge problems with their own emotional control during rehearsals, and they all had to work very hard to contain their emotions during the live performance, the first of 12 in Maastricht, and the other huge results of this incredible performance were Andre having the confidence to invite Emma to join him for 2 concerts in Malta, to be a part of his Christmas concert series in Maastricht, and then to be a guest star in his 2024 world tour of 75 concerts, and of course, the other event is that the Voila video on social media has gone massively viral, on TH-cam alone, the current views is close to 60 million, and there's also large numbers of streams and views on other sites that TH-cam won't let us mention.
Emma was 15 when this video was recorded, and her skills have indeed improved over the last year, and I don't need to mention other videos as such, Roger Clutton has done that already earlier, but if you want an incredible performance, he's absolutely right, Emma's performance of the Demi Levato song, 'Father' at a special WWII commemorative event in the Hague a few weeks ago, that was off the scale, she absolutely nailed the performance, and changed it to enhance it more when compared to an earlier performance last September.
We're all desperately hoping that Andre will give her some more freedom at Maastricht this year, as she's no longer tied by the laws about minors, she's now 16, and we know she's more than able to perform incredible songs with huge power and emotion, we're just hoping that Andre will allow her to fly even higher now, it's very apparent from social media posts that she's a very happy and comfortable fit with Andre and the orchestra, the only thing that's holding her back is the very real limitation of being tied to feeding tubes for 22 hours a day, and that's not going to change in the near future, and another side effect of her illness is that her stamina is massively limited compared to most teenagers, we just have to hope that her foundation will find ways to change and improve the treatment of her disease.
People who know me know what's coming next, and I make no apologies for repeating this appeal on a regular basis, Emma's foundation is almost unique in terms of the work they are doing, there's been very little research into a devastating illness, the effects on the sufferers are huge.
Emma's foundation can be found at gastrostars.nl
Please, if at all possible, join me in making a (regular) contribution to her foundation, to enable them to help patients like Emma, and research this awful disease that has affected her from birth, and requires her to be tied to the pumps and feeding tubes since she was 9 MONTHS old, for 22 hours a day, hopefully, the work of her foundation will find a cure.
One of their main people is a surgeon who has a lot of experience in dealing with gastroparesis, and she is not only a surgeon, but also suffers from the same disease herself, to the extent that as a result of her condition worsening, she's had to leave her role in the hospital, and she is now dedicated to the foundation, and working to help find possible new treatments, or even better the cure that will free people like Emma to live a more normal life, rather than be tied to the feeding pumps for so many hours every day.
It will be so good if the work of Emma's foundation can lead to a better treatment, or even a cure, which will free her to do more singing, and it may be people here who make that possible.

Just the way how Emma is leading the orchestra is during the entire song (instead of the other way around) tells us how much confidence André Rieu has in this 15 year old (now 16 years old) singer. I mean: when he should have the slightest idea that Emma would not be capable of "playing the leading role" he never ever would have put Emma in that position. And you can see: she is completely "in the zone". And that at performing a song in a foreign language. As most people in the Netherlands, Emma does NOT speak French: she learned the lyrics from scratch: phonetic and help from a French woman to get the pronunciation as correct as possible. The orginal version from Barbara Pravis is a lot faster, but to be honest, I do prefer this slowed down version from Emma. And what a story teller this girl is!! You feel every single word, even when you do not understand the language. To me that's not just talent: that's a gift. Many reactors are mainly focusing on Emma's health condition, which is a shame because her musicality is so amazingly good. Emma can stand proud between , let's say, Angelina Jordan and Lucy Thomas.

TLDR; She is amazing beyond words. I doubt I'll ever see another performance like this in my lifetime.
But here is a little background if you care to dive in... I have been a live sound engineer off and on for almost 40 years. It has gotten me in to see some amazing performances, but nothing prepared me for Emma. This big tough dude here ate up a box of kleenex, and I don't understand more than a few words in French. Another box when I listened to a version with subtitles and realized how personal this song is to her.
But there's one of the things that make her even more amazing - This is not her song, nor was it written for her. She doesn't even speak French, Just Dutch, German, and English. She learned this phonetically with the help of a family friend who is a French teacher. The Credited Artist is Barbara Pravi, who is also very talented and this song took 2nd place in the 2021(?) EuroVision contest. I've heard her performance of it and not only is it very different, but it really wasn't very special (IMHO of course, and Pravi really is a Jewel, but she sings it more like a pop song) Maestro Rieu worked with Emma to completely rework the score and helped Emma make it her own. The orchestra kept breaking down in tears just like the audience and had to go through it several extra times. TBH I don't think Pravi sings it anymore; Emma pretty well owned it with this performance.
And speaking of the performance, the crowd at the Vrijthof Theater that day was 12,500. You already know Andre Rieu is a world renowned violinist and composer. The 72 Princesses and Penguins behind her make up the Johan Strauss Orchestra, also world renowned and actually the largest private orchestra in the world. Musicians will brag to each other just like everyone else, but if someone says "I was only a 3rd chair violin, but it was the JSO under Maestro Rieu" even crickets in the room will go silent. There is literally nowhere to go from there (except the 1st and 2nd chair of course)
If you watch the original version where Maestro Rieu introduces her you'll see her brother in the audience and her father in a blue blazer next to him with her older sister next to their father as well. The whole family seemingly musical prodigies.
Standing in front of a prestigious orchestra, named after Johan Strauss, on their home stage, in Holland, facing a huge crowd, and with her whole family watching (her mother was backstage to help disconnect the pumps just before she went out) If ever there was reason to be nervous this would be it, but it didn't seem to bother Emma at all.
As for her health... She uses her talent to bring attention to her condition, but beyond that she's a normal 16 year old girl (now). She is connected to 2 feeding pumps 22 hours a day which even though they are "portable" still have to be carried around in a backpack or handbag and it limits her activity. Her energy level is also limited by her condition, and while she appears perfectly normal she is tiny for her age - 1 meter 52 or roughly 4' 11". Her foundation is at gastrostars.nl and includes more information about her and the disease.
Her pumps were much to big for her to carry when she was younger and had to be wheeled around on a modified walker, earning her the nickname "Grandma" and "Dwerg" (Dutch for Dwarf) along with a lot of teasing. Children can be especially cruel and I'm sure the emotional consequences of her illness were as bad or worse than the physical ones. Among other things Gastrostars serves as a support group for others with the same affliction. Being able to reach out and connect to others who share your pain is the next best thing to a cure.
All of her performances on the Voice Kids Holland are up on TH-cam as well as 2 originals she put out, both in Dutch, but quite enjoyable even before you read the translation. Laat Mij Een Vlinder Zijn (Let Me Be a Butterfly) and Strijder (Warrior). These are more like pop songs you would expect to hear from a Teen, but very well done and distinctly Emma.
She has videos of several live shows at festivals and such... Always a good performance, interacting with the audience, and putting smiles on faces plus the occasional tear in their eyes. She is also a wonderful role model (I have a daughter not much older than her) Confident, kind hearted, generous and even when not in a formal setting she is well dressed - A very elegant young lady. I'm not sure she realizes how much strength she has, but its there, and it shows.
End of ramble... my fingers are tired.

I completely agree. Just like Johnny Cash took ownership of Trent Reznor's "Hurt", she took ownership of this song. And Barbara did indeed praise her for this awesome rendition (the same way Trent Reznor praised Johnny Cash for his rendition of Hurt).

There very similar in lyrics but obviously the type of genre is different ❤

Hello Andy, Good to hear that you recovered. I love your reaction to Emma. In the comments I see a lot of sugesstions, so I will not overflow you, but point out a couple of things she does to prepare her performances.
Prior to the liberation concerts she visited the Margraten WW2 militairy cemetery, where still some 8000 american soldies are buried. She introduces hereself and explains why she believes it is important to remember.
Here is the link with English subtitels:
    th-cam.com/video/e5HBdHX6bew/w-d-xo.html
Also in the commemoration performance in Rhenen where she sang You raise me up you will see shots of her visiting the cemetary (carying her 2 pump in bag and showing how small she is) before singing the link is in the othe reactions.
She sang Voila earlier but a lot faster, like Barbara Pravi. Andre Rieu and herself rearanged it to this incredable slower and impressive version. Now of course , as you can expect from Andre in a waltz tempo.
Im am looking forward to other reactions from you. Stay healthy and all the best, Jacques Dupain
