small farm farm management tractors
I don't have anything against horses, but I'm sure farmers back in the day were happy to have any kind of tractor to farm with.
Didn’t have to feed or shovel after a tractor. No matter what type of farm they had, a certain number of acres had to be set aside for hay and pastures. Thank You for watching
One I talked to called farming with horses "slow farming" .
@@tommys_trucks_trains_tractorsI've heard 4 acres per horse or 20%.
Excellent video! Still farm with all CASE tractors and love them all.
Thank you for watching. Which one is your favorite?
That's a tough question. We have 17 to choose from. We use a 69 430 diesel for all kinds of chores. Our big tillage tractor is a 75 1370. My favorite restored tractor is a 52 DC3 LP Gas with an adjustable wide front and Eagle Hitch. @@tommys_trucks_trains_tractors
I really enjoy your historical reviews and personal perspective on the tractors you are showing. It brings me back through my life farming.
Thanks 👍
awesome
I have a 630 with triple range and eagle hitch love it 😊
Cool video I've got my Grandads 1954 Case SC that he bought brand new in 1955. It's all original right down to the paint and is still a damn fine tractor. Can do anything with it now that it would do when it was new.
There weren’t many Case tractors around when I was a kid, but I’ve seen them more frequently in recent years. The one old timer who had one was named Ernald Placestead and he had an SC and a VAC. I forgot to mention the “chicken roost” steering. Thank You for watching
The farmall H and the S C are the series tractors ever made.
Ah, the good old Case VAC Still in demand if you can find one. Amazing power for it size Just like the Allis Chalmers All crop combine. Still a bunch of them in the field. But, the standard 3 point is still the safest connection. Harry Ferguson still lives on to this day.
A friend of mine was into them for a while and had probably a half dozen including a VAI and a VAC-13. I was going to buy the VAI, paint it olive drab and recreate a USAF plane tug for parades, but then Covid hit and I wasn’t able to. Thank You for watching
The three point hitch was super important in its day for safety. The other tractor brands back then could have licensed the system from Ferguson just like Henry Ford had (although later, Ford's kid thought he'd play fast on Ferguson by not covering royalties and lost in court). Ferguson knew how often conventional tractors flipped backward when their plow caught an obstruction. The other brands seemed to think they could engineer around it and spent a lot of funds in that endeavor to cover until the patents ran out.
Henry ford 2 got sued for millions by negating that handshake agreement. Enter the Jubilee. Stay tuned for the 3-point hitch video coming out in a week or so. Thank you for watching
I do love this old photage.
Thank You for watching. I have quite a bit in some other videos and plan to upload more next week. Thank you for watching
I have a half dozen J.I.Case tractors, and my favourites are the 930 and 1030 Comfort King tractors. Over 55 years old now, and still find use pulling forage wagons, spreading manure and a dozen other jobs . I liked this video and enjoyed the sound track too.
I grew up working on a farm with the fleet of Oliver tractors. The Oliver system where the balls stayed on the implement and end of the three point arms lifted them and snapped closed. It gave you room to rock back and forth if needed.
I’ll have to look that one up. Olivers weren’t super common around here, but they were sold at a place called The Oliver Stores. Thank You for watching
Is a nice design 👌
Thanks
Brought back lots of memories.
Farmed with letter series Case machinery.
Thank You for watching
My Case VAC has the Eagle hitch. Still trying to bring it back to life.
I have several old Case tractors in the family's collection some have eagle hitch. I would say the smaller models were better for use of the eagle hitch. 430,300,630. The bigger tractors the system was not right for implements that need catII hitch 700,730early. The concept is good though the modern euro style hitch works similar and it is close to a quick hitch without the weight penalty.
I think the IH fast hitch was the same way in that it was good on smaller tractors, but not as good on the larger ones. Thank you for watching
The Eagle Hitch is a proper category 1 3 point hitch and it came out the minute the patent expired on the Ferguson System. 3 point hitch is designed as 2 lower lift arms and 1 upper control arm. You're thinking of the Case Motor Lift or hydraulic Power Lift. Every other weird system was trying to get around the patent.
I’m sure you’re correct. Thank You for watching and yes, they all had some sort of boondoggle that prevented customers from buying another company’s attachments.
Very good friend has a Case 750 and are neighbor had a vac in 1960? Had a slid up tool box on right side .Vac about the size of a A or Farmall 100 love your talks 🎩
I’ve always been a fan of the VAC. Thank you for watching and stay safe
Fine video ! How Manu tractors did Old Case build ?
Many…
😀
I've got an Eagle Hitch SC, 400, and 830 and my cousin has a VAC
Dam that was just a quick hitch like now
Pretty much. If they weren’t so expensive, I’d get a ball and claw hitch for my John Deere. Thank you for watching
I have the plow they show 8 minutes in but mine is partly orange with only the hitch green
Turkey roosts and all!! Look an awful lot like 3 point hitches to me.
They sure do. The only real difference besides the claw was that they didn’t have any lateral sway or check chains. Thank you for watching
That 500 was indestructible and sipped fuel. Don't run the tank dry or you'll be all day bleeding those 3 filters!
I had a 1953 DC -4 with the Eagle hitch and still have a 1948 Ford 8 N with the Ferguson system, and I believe that the Eagle hitch was a superior system .
Was the Eagle Hitch live or after the clutch like on Ferguson Systems?
It was live . I liked the solid draft arms . The place where you attached the top link on the implement was spring-loaded and had 2 steel j hooks inside the spring. When you raised the implement, the j hooks latched together, and when you set the implement down, they separated, and then the spring action followed the contours of the ground . At least that's the best way I can explain it . 🤷
Ih fast hitch is so easy anyone who would throw down a diamond and pick up a rock ,
Fast hitch has always been my favorite
I'm not a fan of the Eagle Hitch. Swinging lift arms are better.
The problem is not everything was ASAE standard so some thing fit and some didn’t. You didn’t know which ones until you got it home. Thank you for watching
What was bad was the idiots who tried to make them swing by loosening the bolts. That wrecked everything.
