Roadside Encounter with Godzilla -- Fan Animation

This clip was going to be featured in the 2nd part of • Video but it became so long that I decided to upload it as a separate video instead, similar to • You Interrupt Godzilla...
One idea for this animation was to attempt to portray how unsettling it would be to come across a giant monster in a mundane manner and how it could lead to a horrible death. The horror-angle didn't quite work though, because Godzilla would probably not care about attacking a single non-threatening human individual. Therefor I added a surprise guest monster to make Godzilla more active, and because so many comments have been asking for more monster fights. First I wanted to use one of the monsters from the 1978 or 1998 cartoon shows, but I ended up picking an unused preliminary transforming Heisei Mechagodzilla design because it was easier to model, had more varied attack methods, and it was fun to animate it transforming. This design was based on a sketch by Ryu Hariken, I stylized it a bit and shrunk it down to 50 meters. There are several transforming MG concept designs, I chose this one because it was the simplest and most of its details would be hidden by darkness, the environment and dust anyway.
I apologize for the darkness and the rendering artifacts present in the video. The idea was to have a moody night scene with deep shadows and a variety of light effects where the POV human character can't make out all the details of what's going on around him. Ohrai Noriyoshi didn't even create the design that was used on his poster. He immortalized it, But that's it.
So not only did we get a full on battle and comedy but a ending showcase this a 100/10

Actually, he was firing his thermal nuclear breath at the Mechagodzilla head when he saw its eyes glowing. Doubt he would waste his power on one... tiny... human

The design for Mecha Godzilla is unique, I won't lie. I'm kinda liking these POV vids.
I think it’s based on one of the concept designs for mg for a poster for the heisei era for Godzilla vs MG II

The sheer sense of scale in this is so insane, I love it! The reveal of both weapons becoming Mechagodzilla was so clever too! Adore how animalistic you made Godzilla act and move, wonderful job as always!
Everything was beautiful; the fight, the pov, the new mecha design, that ending, and the showcase. Especially that new mecha design. Beautiful mini fight.
To be honest, just gotta love how vrahno is starting to up his animating projects, it’s starting to feel more like a movie scene.

This is a different godzilla version, just because Legendary goji has the ability to sense other kaiju's doesn't mean every other godzilla has the same ability.
@@mrbombastic982 Didn't Godzilla sense something going wrong in Godzilla vs. Gigan even though he and Anguirus were on Monster Island during that time? The threats being Gigan and King Ghidorah.
@@mrbombastic982 godzilla most of the time has that ability, it's just that the MV actually makes the effort to point that out as a ability he has. In every other godzilla movie period, whenever a monster wakes or a alien comes to earth godzilla suddenly appears to fight them implying he does sense something wrong with the planet.
Loved the ending long shot with the glowing eyes. Really added to the tense action/horror atmosphere.
Can officially confirm, that Mechagodzilla transformation was the coolest fucking thing I have ever seen on this channel. And that’s REALLY saying something.
Holy crap this is amazing! I love this version of Mechagodzilla and the POV shorts of people running into Godzilla are probably my favorite Godzilla fan content right now. Have you considered doing any with other monsters, maybe Mothra or something?
Other monsters could make guest appearances but the main idea was to have Godzilla be the source of the POV kills.

The messy and chunky movement that you gave to mechagoji really adds him a lot of personality, it's the perfect mix between cartoony and realistic machinery.
Wow this was just pure bliss. Awesome fight, animation everything. That MG looks so freaking cool. It's like if you fused Showa, MG2, and poster MG2 into one awesome mecha. It also reminds of that Showa Mecha Ghidorah concept looks wise.

I love how you based your MechaG model after an old concept design. I guess It may not seem too significant, but it really like how an old discarded character design can be realized in motion through awesome fan-made works like this.
Good thing he woke Godzilla up with that bottle, or that surprise attack might have been fatal.

Love the use of the original Godzilla design in a more modern era. Also a cool design choice with making the mecha Godzilla wings transform into its tail. Not sure if it was a reference or not but the burnt mecha Godzilla head looked like the actual Godzilla head like how the Kiryu Mecha Godzilla was made from the skeletal remains of the original Godzilla. Great work!

Thank you for adding another awesome Mechagodzilla to the pantheon of "Seen on film Kaiju". This might be a fan animation, but it still counts a great execution in my opinion.
This just made me realise how cool the original Gojira design still is and how under-utilised it is.
You see THIS, THIS IS WHAT WAS MISSING FROM THE PACIFIC RIM SEQUEL! The sheer scale and heaviness was nonexistent in the “sequel”.

I love the reimagining of the OG poster design where MechaG was supposed to be a combiner of sorts. It looked a little odd in the animation but hey. I did love the part where Goji just bonked the top half with the legs

i wish the next godzilla movies will have comparable actions sequence to this clip, it felt natural and threatning from the guy perspective, even before getting blasted in a matter of secs.
Despite being the oldest and "weakest" of his versions, OG Godzilla can still deliver unstoppable nuclear hands.

I appreciate that the Mechagodzilla design here took inspiration from the original concepts for the Heisei version (which were ultimately used for Moguera).

Here I was, thinking Godzilla was gonna be the menace, but Human is out here committing public intoxication and Super MG just chose violence today.
I swear, watching these and seeing what can be done when the power of computahs meets a creative mind makes me want to give animating something a shot. Always noticing something new on a re-watch.

I just found this, that design for Mecha G is great!! Love how the wings become the tail. It’s a great mixture of og Mecha G and the Heisei designs, it also has a dash of Transformers, which is awesome

I like how you make classic Goji fights unique by using different versions. First Final Wars Godzilla against Axor, then Marvel Goji vs Showa Gigan, and now classic Godzilla against a scrapped version of Mechagodzilla.
Great MechaG design incorporating several prior flavors for an original homage! The '54 black and white design (with shades of ZombiG from GMK) was an impressive artistic choice, too.
