I just watched it last night. I’m 27. I had never heard of it before. It was an emotional roller coaster. I went from crying to ecstatic to laughing multiple times.
For 20 years from the age of 14 racing was nearly everything that I lived for. I learned to do machine work, and build engines. I learned about metal and heat treating. I learned how to weld and fabricate parts. For 15 years we lost every race. But then things started to change. We won a few trophy dashes, and some heat races, and finally a few main events. Persistent devotion to becoming one of the best is one hell of a ride. And not everyone reaches their goal. I reached mine....
This movie just made a grown boy cry. Love the movie. But best of all love the determination of Burt Munro. My words cannot describe how great this movie is.
Went to this movie on a first date with my girlfriend. She thought it was set in India... Thats ok. I forgave her. And now we're married with 2 kids...!
Remember watching Letterman, and they were interviewing Anthony Hopkins, and he introduced him I heard the name of the movie, and expected it to be about an indian guy set in New Zealand
So I've not been well and having movie days and today my aunty Margaret came to keep me company and we watched this together and I just loved it. Anthony Hopkins is a brilliant actor and I love the warm way he played this role. It needs to be on everyones top 100 list.
Nothing weird about that darling. Its a fantastic movie and you come from New Zealand so its normal. Being at your age its a big plus to watch movies like this.
Fantastic movie. If you haven't seen it, you're missing a great movie. My copy got shared by at least 6 people at work, pretty sure at least 4 bought the movie afterwards. This is based on a true story and is pretty accurate. Loved Anthony in "magic" and "silence of the lambs" but this one is my favorite, well done!
hey Elise, you're not weird at all, just a kiwi girl proud of this country's heritage and innovators - ignore the haters and the abusers who are just jealous of your pride in an awesome country and its people - Kia kaha
Quick google search : Kia kaha is a Māori phrase used by the people of New Zealand meaning stay strong, used as an affirmation. The phrase has significant meaning for Māori: popularised through its usage by the 28th Māori Battalion during World War II, it is found in titles of books and songs, as well as a motto.
I remember the first time I hit 50mph on my 125, you couldn’t wipe the smile off my face for a week. Granted the road I was on I was doing over double the speed limit but oh well. I can only imagine going 200mph
It is such an amazing movie .. puts a tear in my eyes every time .. such a passionate soul he was and this actor .. its like he was born to play in this movie , its simply awesome
I read a while ago that Burt Munro's children were on set during filming, and Anthony Hopkins' portrayal of their father moved them to tears, it was so accurate!
The opening scene in garage, and burnt pistons with sign: sacrifices to the gods of speed, an ominous prelude of the story being told. Good movie, thnx
I know it's been said a lot about this movie but I'll say it again, this is a great movie, one you can take your kids to see and they won't forget it and love, I promise...a movie made of a true story, what else can you ask for?
I downloaded this movie some 15 years ago i think. Didnt know what it was and was wondering about the title. I imagined it was some odd story about an indian running fast or something, or some other invented stupid story. I was wrong. I just thought about this movie again, as i was telling my sis that urine is a good phosphate fertilizer for your plants and well, such a scene is in this movie as he asks the neighbour boy to 'water' his lemon tree ;] Its a great little movie; great story, great acting, great camera work, and even though i am not 'into bikes', it grabbed me and kept me glued to the screen for the duration. No politics, no bs, no hidden messages that they want you to accept. Just a great story. If you havent seen it, you should ;]
Very inspirational movie makes you realize you can truly fly on the wings of your dreams. Special movie dear to me, put kiwi land on the map. l come from Timaru shown in the movie. It's that kiwi can do number 8 wire mentality that resonates here. Burt was portrayed as a very warm charismatic character who although coming from the almost the sticks with a level of naivety connected magically with the very colorful characters he encountered. Just a warm hearted family movie. Appreciation to the writer(s) from penned this masterpiece and breathed life into the very fabric of every character's beingness. Truly creative artistic juggernaut(s). What a gift!!!
I want to Thank THAYRONE X from WAAM 1600 a.m. out of SE Michigan! This movie looks Great! Can't wait to watch it! Will be back with a follow up comment. You're Awesome THAYRONE X ! KEEP FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT! 💪😎
To my brother-in-law Donald McClure it has been a long time that you acquired one of my favorite movies it would be nice that I may have it returned to enjoy it once again. This is one of my favorite movies.
"Montana and Nevada were the last remaining U.S. states relying exclusively on the basic rule, without a specific, numeric rural speed limit prior to the National Maximum Speed Law of 1974." This movie takes place in '63
I heard The Scorpions and saw Anthony Hopkins, I was sucked in. 😁 Anyone who rides knows the feel of tucking yourself on your bike like within the first 20 seconds of this clip doing 90+ mph hour. You know the feel for speed and the feeling of freedom, with your bike as your limitation to really fast.
Yes the cool part was those blokes coming back around and given him money to get to America and strut...that was cool...that shit don't happen much any more if ever...thanks watch the movie if you like bikes and ever thought about going fast you'll love it,good luck buying your first Indian,thou...
Gotta put the title of the movie up for people. You never know someone else might not have seen or heard of this before. The name of the movie is. The world's fastest Indian.
I just watched it last night. I’m 27. I had never heard of it before. It was an emotional roller coaster. I went from crying to ecstatic to laughing multiple times.
Why have I never heard about this movie before... my dad is massive Indian fan, he'd also love this.

brilliant. Anthony Hopkins at his best.. and Burt Munro is THE man
The 360 shot of Bert and his arrival at the lake is majestic
This movie captures the essence of all that Hollywood has now lost......
And it got even worse... lets hope this era ends soon
One of he most underrated person in history.

This is one Hell of a movie & Burt was one Hell of a guy
I want to watch it on a big screen tv to get the full effect.
He puts a grinding wheel into a drill chuck...
...and takes care of his toenails? You can't help but like a guy like that!
Truly one of the best films ever made ♥️
Great performance by Hopkins of a real life character.
Fantastic movie.

I was loaned the movie and went and bought a copy of it afterward too. Totally worth it.
I love Anthony Hopkins I watched the trailer and feel this could be a tad manic for me all that speed and noise!! Lol!
hey Elise, you're not weird at all, just a kiwi girl proud of this country's heritage and innovators - ignore the haters and the abusers who are just jealous of your pride in an awesome country and its people - Kia kaha
With all due respect, what is Kia kaha?

Thank god the Brits didn't invade it, abuse the aboriginals and ship their criminals to it like they did with Australia.
Was at Bonneville Speedway yesterday.... I thought of this movie every time I seen a bike run

He doesn't sound anything like a New Zealander.
@@cascade3769 well, it's not too bad when you consider NEW ZEALAND is about .06% of the total world population.
@@spinningbackspin How is that relevant?
Speedweek starts Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Bonneville. I will have to watch this again tonight as part of the yearly tradition! :)
Great Actor and a Great movie!!!
Dan Favata

trailer songs: Wild Flower - The Cult
The Clash - Police on my back
Whats the first song?
Hihi... I read the title and expected an indian man driving something fast! :-)
Then I found the fantastic Anthony Hopkins.
He said in an interview he was tired of bad guy and sad roles he recently had. Can't blame him to enjoy such a movie shoot.
To this day I firmly believe this is one of the greatest movies of all time.
