It’s surprising how effective blagging is when youre in a company setting. People, who are not trained to detect fraudulent behaviour and liars, are not usually effective at preventing behaviours like the one he spoke about in the banks. I think it comes down to 2 factors. 1. Motivation. In your house, you don’t let anyone in because it’s a directly personal setting. You don’t want your stuff robbed. Same goes with if you’re in your friends house, in that you’ll prevent this happening on to them. In a company however, people have no relationship with the property of the corporation... so why defend it? 2. Avoiding Confrontation/ confidence: It takes a lot of balls to tell someone you know their game when it’s not even on display. It takes an even greater amount of balls if a wrong call on it may affect your own relationship with whoever that game is associated with. Consequently people don’t like risking their own asses when there is little to no reward in the face of a test of testicles. These 2 factors mean that most people are usually uneager to confront inexplicit threat when it comes to their employers. They don’t want to risk themselves for something they don’t care about. This is why what he did is probably reproducible most large to corporate sized companies working environments that do not have measures in place to prevent it.
For a hacker, he sure speaks REALLY well. I've always believed that hackers are socially awkward bunch that can't verbally talk for crap. Not the case apparently.
For people who are unaware, he does not “rob banks” he simply tests the security of the bank he is hired to test by hacking into the bank’s mainframe. Depending if he gets in or not, he will patch the errors that the bank’s protection software has.
Not to be one of those people but what he does is called Physical penetration testing. While I'm sure he is capable of hacking software, he is mainly hired to test physical protection methods rather than software

u13erfitz pen tests can include physical assessments, if that’s within scope, in his case he is very skilled at social engineering and covert recon. Your systems are behind an air-gap, he goes in and plugs in a wi-fi dongle and loads some code on the machine, now that machine is accessible outside the bank and he can attack digitally any time he wants. People assume that their systems are secure, until you realise they are operated by people who are doing a 9-5 and most people are naturally trusting, not wanting to cause any trouble, and a white knight appearing and saying he’s here to help you, sounds very appealing.
