I Don't know abt any other cultures but in our culture, there was a tradition of preserving and gifting to nd using the infant clothing, caps, baby swing and sometimes little toys of the first born kid (eldest child) in a joint family to all other babies born in that extended fam thereafter as a ritual
Maybe , it was based on a belief that sharing clothes or swings of an eldest surviving baby will bring good future and long life to other babies adding up in a family 👪
