That was my goal too when I started... and I kept it at that level for about 2 minutes LOL! I ramped up really quickly when I started. Make sure to make a budget and not over purchase, it's very common to do that in the stacking community. You don't want to have to sell because you run out of cash.

@TheMostSlyFox I agree, alot of stackers stack so much, I'm like impressed, I've seen people before spend 12 to 15 grand at the LCS at a time. I definitely don't know how that must feel to stack at those levels! But in the end we stack what we can and try to enjoy it!

Been stacking since 2012. Stopped 4 years ago when I retired. Last purchase was a monster box of maples and a monster box of Canadian mint 10 oz bars. Total stack 6200 oz.

Very nice, Gary. Stacked silver since 2010, then met my goal in 2019. 6088 ozs. here. Started stacking gold in 2013. My 1st gold buy was 5 1-oz. Maples for just over $5900.
Sure would like to see that price again but probably won't. Just have to deal with what comes. I expected rising gold prices and falling amounts purchased, so it's on track.
5000 ounces equals a contract. 5000 ounces squeezes quite nicely
into a 20 X 20 X 24 safe also.

@@beebob1279 you want silver right now anyway. Keep an eye on the gold:silver ratio. When you see it hit 1:60 ish, trade it for gold. When it hits 1:80, trade it back for silver. I’ve been doing it for a while and it’s grown my stack a lot without needing to put fiat into it. Whenever you’re buying, always check the ratio first. If it’s closer to 1:80, buy silver. If it’s closer to 1:60, buy gold.

I have been trying to reduce my stack down to around 10,000 ounces. I have been stacking for 58 years. problem is I do only auctions anymore and I keep finding deals way below melt! last week on a high bid auction I won Mercury and barber dimes for $1.80 each, 20 balboa's for $80 and even one ounce rounds for $27.50 each. in the one group of rounds was half ASE's!! this auction had no buyers premium and was close so I could pick them up. I do not hear much about auctions from youtubers and trust me you guys who do not do auctions are missing the boat!!! Jim
That's amazing! You definitely have found some great auctions! I have looked bit unfortunately haven't had any luck on them. They charge alot of money on the items and the percentage they charge onto of the winning bid isn't profitable. I wish I could find a good auction place! That's amazing, glad you're able to get those great deals!

After tax and shipping it often costs more than LCS . Cheapest I fins is the silverware at auction...
Do you check them before you bid on them? I have seen videos of people who bought stuff on ebay that is fake but so good it takes a professional to distinguish the difference. If you don't inspect & verify first how do you know those pieces at auction didn't come from ebay?
How would I find out about auctions like that?

im in my 50 s never made much money and had a large family . wife stayed home to raise kids . i started staking about 15 yrs ago now im in the 1 percent . feels good .a lot of it came from side jobs sometimes i could take a portion of the extra money and by silver .

After a year of collecting silver I only got around 50 Oz, the price of silver here is so expensive now at around 40 USD per Oz

Keep stacking silver until the gold to silver ratio is below 40-1. Then sell silver for gold.
I don’t have a single ounce . That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. If I did, I certainly wouldn’t post it on a compromised website like TH-cam for the IRS to see.

I have been stacking Silver for a long time, it makes me feel comfortable knowing that I have it. I also stack some Gold, but not as much. Metals are important, the paper money is going downhill fast.
Awesome! I agree it adds comfort to own it and know it's there, same here Gold is just very expensive. Yes I don't trust fiat currencies and since they are all tied up together it would be a chain reaction if one of the top one fails. Happy Stacking!
The reason ppl in poorer countries cant stack much is their currency has already collapsed. No purchasing power. Cant buy food much less silver. Argentina, Venezuela, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt, Turkey, etc....one hyperinflation starts , you better have your stack from before bc the paper wont buy anything
That's very true! It has happened and is happening alot! In the USA we are paying so much more on everything! Except wages they don't go up as they should!
I may be a unique case study, but I just got started last October, just passed 320 oz. I kind of ran out of other shit I felt I needed to buy. So I am piling the shit up with vey dollar not nailed down.

I'm in the UK so got higher premiums plus 20% VAT to deal with. Despite the recent spikes none of my silver is close to turning profit against spot where as when it comes to the gold even my 1g bars are in profit against spot. So i'm more into gold, i have a good mix of denominations but mainly go for 1/4 Britannia's and 22ct sovereigns. For silver i've got maybe 60 oz bullion and the same again in sterling/50%, i'd like to push that to 100oz each while staying focused on the gold.

I'm a 3rd generation stacker, and I've been stacking since 2003 ish on and off when I could.. Not going to say how much I have, but it's more than my fair share... My biggest concern is that I don't have enough %90 silver and have no rounds, which I plan to start rectifying as of the summer... Going to go for Avg circular type but also going to get some BU / AU / XF... In silver dollars, half dollars and dimes... Just to add to the collection and the avg maybe for the normal stack... luckily for me I'm here in Washington State, and no tax on anything unless, it's over that threshold of 10k or if it has colors or antique on the metal.... Nothing like stacking as a family tradition! I like the 90% silver coins and about 1/3 of my stack is in them. Also have some 5-oz. bars as trading material but the bulk of my
stack is in Maples and ASEs. Didn't want it to get too complex since most (all?) of this will be inherited by my kids and grand kids and selling a lot of similar coins is usually
easier than having 57 different varieties. When I was stacking the Maples and ASEs heavily, premiums were $2-$2.50 per coin and the prices were $14-$15 each, so not bad,
especially when compared to recent prices. Inflation is a bummer and is hitting just about everything, including PMs and their premiums.

My state, Maine charges sales tax so I avoid sales tax and use the savings to pay for vault storage out of state. Also makes it easier to by and sell, not to mention more secure. I had 2 coin collections stolen from my homes over the years.

Those numbers seem extremely low to me. I can literally be a one percent stacker in one buy. Although there was a time when that seemed like a huge amount. I guess a lot of it is perspective. I would have never thought I was already passed that 1% in 2 years and 3 months of stacking. @ 1,090 oz of silver and 8 oz and change of gold. Plus $545 face in 90%,I thought I was running short on my future financial goal. 😜

At about 1000 now, slowly adding. A tiny amount of gold. My first gold purchase was a 1/10th of an ounce, and the "coin" is so tiny ill never take it out of the case it came in or ill lose it. It's smaller than a US dime.

@@lindaempleo3137 Easy enough to google that. A 1/4 oz. AGE is about the size of a nickel and the 1/2 oz. is about the size of a quarter.

Hot take, how many ounces would it take to be in the top 1% IF the metric was ONLY developed countries, which eliminates a huge percentage of the population? My guess is it would be more like 1,500 ounces.

That bar on the bottom left that can be split into fractional.. Be careful with that one, there were a LOT of counterfeits made with that exact design. Take it out of the case, weigh and measure it. That looks like a Stagecoach silver bar, and there are a TON of fake ones out there. I think the fakes were silver plated brass if I remember correctly.

@JohnD-JohnD if you cab find a LCS and ask to look at the rounds bin. They sometimes have other coins other then rounds and at a good price. You never know what you'll find. It makes it fun to look through it.

My advice, if you like silver because it is indeed a beautiful metal, buy the pieces that will be pleasing to the eye.
If you cant get 200oz for examples that appeal, then keep going.
Otherwise buy 1/4oz fractional gold.

Wow... I just did an inventory of my silver horde, because I hadn't been keeping track of what I was stacking. I would just buy a little silver here and a little silver there, whenever I had a bit of extra scratch after paying bills.

I don't know about these numbers, guys. They seem really low to me, as far as world silver stacks go. But, I would be interested in seeing what the top 0.1% level is. 😄
Been stacking silver since early in 2010 and gold since late in 2013. Completed my silver stacking goal in late 2019. Still working on the gold, though. Would like to
see a significant drop in gold prices before buying more. I would like to complete my gold stacking goal in 2025, so a drop in gold prices to $2k or less would be good.
They might seem low cause your more then likely in a region where they stack at 11 percent instead of a lower percent. Like the USA we stack heavily. And yes I agree I also would like a drop on gold so it's more affordable to buy. At least compared to the prices right now.

Maybe the deal here is that we have a lot of multi-millionaires and billionaires who also hold some PMs but in large amounts, which could
skew the amounts / distribution somewhat.
What if you have 40,000+ ounces of silver ? Where does that put you in the rankings?
That amount must be from a region where they stack around 11 percent. Which includes the USA, if you were to do the calculations for that region or country alone the amount would be much much higher! But at 40k oz that's still 1 percent top stackers even in those countries. I will be making a video about that later in the future.
That’s 40 million us dollars when Silver hits $1000 dollars an ounce 😊 . My preference would be to exchange for gold at a 10/1 ratio

Do me a favor because the top 1% only needs to own a little more than a monster box. (which is fairly easy) Tell us how many ounces you need to be in the the top .5% (top half of a %) and also the top .25% (top quarter of a %). Heck might as well tell us what you need to be in the top tenth of a percent.
This is fairly easy for us stackers in the USA, Europe or any other place where we stack at 11 percent and where our income allows us to have that possibility. I will be doing a video in the near future for the places that stack at 11 percent like the USA and do a video on certain regions and have a breakdown. Numbers will be more different. @@SuperiorStacker a lot of Franklin Mint coins and medals. With that stuff, you’re lucky to get half of spot from smelters. Nothing is more hated than sterling. Glad I’ve got eagles and maple leafs too.
The pandemic led me to learn about inflation when the govt shut everything down and expanded the money supply by a third. Learning about inflation led me to Gold which led me to Silver which led me to stacking. Got about 900 oz squirreled away....waiting for our fiat system to implode.
Yes the pandemics definitely a troubling time, so many saw what could happen in such a situation. I'm glad more and more people are realizing the great potential it is to own precious metals, I've seen it so many times someone who has metals and has an emergency or sudden debt come up. 1% give or take 10 oz. have not counted up my 90% junk silver in a few months. I was close to 500 but could be over now with my 90% coinage additions of the last few months. Only 2.7 oz gold counting my scrap from chains/rings. Disabled on SSDI fixed income. Started stacking in 2019. As a way to save for the time i would need a lawyer for an SSDI review if need be. Now it's habit my left over $$ if any goes to my stack, my preps and my ant farm hobby.

What is the source of your figures?
I've done alot of research on top of research on the internet! How much silver bullion available, percentages of stacking in different parts of the world. And average incomes also.
I paid my house off in December 2023. I started using that expense of the mortgage into silver. Looks like I'm already in the 5% realm. My goal has been to get 500oz, then I may convert some of that to gold......or maybe I'll just switch to buying gold.

You haven’t done the math with the gold to silver ratio. Stack silver only till there’s a much lower ratio,1/ 10 then exchange for gold. Get it ? 😊

I wont be making any sort of decisions until that point.....heck, silver may be up to its actual value from the market crashing. Heck, I may have to switch to copper, then convert to silver....who knows what this CRAZY market has in store for us.
I put it like Mike Maloney put it. 500oz of physical Silver will save your butt and everything above 1k will change your live.
It's definitely a good amount to have, especially for any emergencies that might come up. It definitely gives peace of mind!

500 ounces is small compared to stackers I know..... many of them have 1500 ounces.. or more.
For some parts in the world this is alot. For others where they stack heavily like the USA this is a small amount for many of the stackers!

The best part is you're being your own bank. If an emergency comes up! You liquidate some metals and get out of it! Best part of it!

Plus 60 ounces of gold. In 2 years. but 5kg of silver is in 1 kg bars. Thats might have not been so smart but I had to buy online when i was over seas. Also Payed 12% Vat. Eu has a rule.

Save all of your receipts! That VAT should be tax deductible, as an expense for acquiring your silver. I keep records of all silver and gold purchases in a spreadsheet,
which is set up to give me a running total for the silver and the premiums paid. This is backed up on 3 different drives. Also keep paper receipts in a 3-ring binder.
