Suscribed! What a great channel. Everything presented clearly and cleanly, no fluff or filler nonsense. You are a talented luthier and gentleman! Thank you!
After making all of the guitars I have made over the years, I have learned to make each part (neck shaft, fretboard, and body) separately and complete up to 220 grit sanding. That way if I make a mistake or the wood reveals a flaw, I have only lost the one part. Nothing is more disheartening than to throw away a perfectly good fretboard because something went wrong while carving the neck shaft.
Why do kids of the last decade or so call these watch caps, watchman's caps or stocking caps by the name "Beanie"??? A beanie was a skullcap w/o a bill, and a propeller on the very top center. A beanie was worn by an outcast or retarded kid and was an object of ridicule by most. I would think a kid of today should know what a beanie really is, and it would go back to being correctly referred to as a watch cap or stocking cap.
The epoxy I'm using is the 2:1 epoxy from Total Boat. The pigment is made by Black Diamond Pigments. ITs really fun to play around with this stuff. Lots of uses.

Thats a great idea. I may have to see how to incorporate it into my process.
Perfect!!!!!Yeah bro!!!
Hello Jeff,I'm planning on using buttons for the fretboard markers,is it a good idea?
I don't see why not as long as you get it nice and smooth. Thats a cool idea.
Nice beanie dude!
Thanks man. I know someone you can get one from. 👍🌵🌵
I think I know that dude too.🌵🤘
I'm not sure it's as much a beanie as a toboggan lol

Don't know if you already did it but can you do a video on side dots?
I will be doing one soon.
Great video Jeff! I really like the mallet you were using, did you make it yourself? If you did then maybe you could make a video of how you made it.
Thanks. I did a video a couple years ago. Its a bit older but here it is. th-cam.com/video/j2v96jjLZ68/w-d-xo.html
What's the material for made fret marker?
The sky is the limit for markers. You can use just about anything you can glue into place. I just used epoxy here.
Great video, can you use epoxy as fret material for a lined fretless bass??
I'm sure that would work fine. Make sure you put some tape on the ends so it doesn't run out the slots.
Looks pretty good!! how would you replace regular dot inlays, with block inlays?
I've never done it but I would think you can just rout it out for the block inlays. That process would remove the dots.
Great Video Jeff but please wear a good mask for the dust esp. when using tropical hardwoods.
Thank You. I've been trying to be more diligent in using a mask. It helps to get a reminder.
cool i just put paint in mine now letting it dry lol. but i like your epoxy way
Jeff, I don’t know anything about this “color” mix with epoxy, would u please give example of products u use.
Thank you!
