Why on earth or moreso sea would you bother catching herring from a a boat...I know that marina very well and from what I see you're fishing from the not far out of the northside, the shorter section of the marina/groyne sides and i think I could cast that distance no problems with my ten foot Abu gacia spinning rod and feel combo...that burley cage is a joke and made for lazy people and prawn, mulies...and shit even wite/bluebait will work substantially well...but all us long time Perth coastal rockhoppers/anglers know maggots, yes maggots ppl are the best for herring and even guardies/garfish will take maggots if there's cut down to fit the hook...
Aidan Lau No. I am talking about scientific name family Clupeidae = herring all over the world. The fish you are talking about is in a completely different family. It should never have been called a herring by the first white people in Australia. Like "Australian Salmon" is a bullshit name. It's not a salmon.
Hi, Can you use aniseed burley to catch them?? And does the plastic burley cage float or sink??
Nice one mate great video 👍

You will catch a hundred times more herring on a boat and that goes for any fish, Hilary's is overfished.
Nice one Dave!
What about blowies? Whenever I fish with prawns in Hillary's there's heaps of blowies around stealing my bait
They are not a herring. Completely different family.
