    I just started doing a craft fair (at my granddaughter's school), and have incorporated things I love to make - journals, notebooks, etc. I love the sticker idea. I have made small stickers for cards that I like to make, and had not thought of making stickers to sell. But, I really like that idea. Thank you for suggesting that.

      Edited to add: This is the first time I have noticed this channel and I’m subscribing. Great content, easy on the ears (no crazy background music) and in my niche.

      I think everyone misunderstood what the op said probably because of the lack of comma in her sentence. I understand what she said after reading it twice.

    I make candles as a hobby and would caution people to thoroughly research the legalities of selling candles because of the danger of fire and the liability that puts on YOU as the candle maker...and you MUST have liability insurance to protect your home and other assets if something happens. And please skip the idea of using flammable items like herbs, flowers, fabrics in the candle because not only does that increase the fire hazard, but will negate any liability insurance you get. As an alternative, you can buy small silicone molds in botanical, shell, animal and other fun shapes and use those to make colored wax shapes to add to the candle.
    And keep in mind that candle making is extremely expensive due to supply issues and other costs....like the months it takes to test each candle wick system (its not as easy as just sticking a wick into wax).

    Hi Mei - OK- you already know I'm an art patron-NOT an artist. I would like you ask you ONE more question (promise) : what about sculpture? Where are the sculptors? Honestly buying unique sculpture can be challenging these days; our local galleries are typically jam packed with wall art, jewelry, and pottery. The things I see online are generally sort of "mass produced" looking or are generic subjects , like animals - and I loved your comment about artists possibly feeling their art is "too unique" -- honestly- I'm not criticizing any art genre or form,but, our house has all the wall art, pottery , and trinkets we really want ( for now:) ). Folks like me understand that sculpture can be difficult and relatively expensive to ship; if anyone is an aspiring sculptor- you can take that concern off your list. Anyhow Mei- maybe you have an opinion?

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! Sculptures are definitely worth exploring too and have so much potential of being profitable too. Finding a profitable market/niche for an artist's sculpture/art will play a really important role.

    I make fidget blankets/quilts for adhd/autistic/Alzheimer’s/dementia sufferers. Most of my sales have gone to the elderly.(mostly from people finding me on my social media pages) I feel there is a demand based on customer feedback, but I don’t know how to market them more. I was thinking of approaching nursing homes(activity coordinators) or connecting with the autistic parents society in my city.

    I'm considering jumping on tufted rug making but I'm new to the marketing side of handmade biz industry. Are tufted rugs the sort of thing likely to become passé in the next two years? I plan to niche down into 1) "fantasy culture" rugs, like rustic medieval styles common in fantasy movies / games etc. 2) Holiday rugs (Halloween Christmas etc), and 3) rugs based on my own fantasy fiction worlds to supplement other products like novels and music albums.
    Going into to 2025, I assume the novelty of tufted rugs will fade compared their explosive growth 2 years ago, but could you imagine the overall idea of tufted rugs to become tacky / abandoned on the marketing side of things?

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Connor! Great question! I suggest conducting a profitability research on your chosen target market first. If you find that tufted rugs are going to be profitable in your chosen niche, I'd say go for it! Your business will naturally evolve over time. Be on top of your ideal customers' likes and dislikes.

    hi Mei, I love you videos ,they are very inspiring . so i watched your video on pricing your handmade products and if i were to use that formula in tufted rugs it would be too expensive because the materials are not so cheap. I tried cutting the cost by buying cheaper raw materials and its not working . so what you recommend i do?

    • @CreativeHiveCo
      @CreativeHiveCo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! You can adjust your hourly rate a bit for now but I don't recommend going below the minimum hourly rate in your country/state. If you're still not comfortable with the price, it's okay to start low in the beginning to enter the market and gradually increase your prices until you meet your goals price (which is your computed retail price using the formula).

      Hi Misa, welcome to Canada. I hope you’re getting settled in. If you were planning to use real fur, you may want to be aware that you might get push-back from anti-fur activists. One way that you may be able to use fur is using existing fur from thrift stores - upcycling it in effect - maybe labelling your product as such in which case I’d be willing to bet you can even charge extra for the “good for the planet” aspect. Just random suggestion from a random person on the internet. Best of luck..for real. 💕

      Air dry clays are a great and easy to use sculpting material. I am a bit concerned about its durability, considering it will be clinking against metal keys, getting dropped, etc.
      Perhaps polymer clays might be a more suitable material. Somehow, I think of polymer clays as being more durable.

    I also have a small idea similar to the enamel pins which are basically Clay pins/Clay magnets.
    Is that idea also possible and profitable for this year? Please feel free to express your opinion🤍

      Hi! That's totally okay. You can start with what you love doing and create profitable products that your chosen target market/audience will love. The key is creating a cohesive brand and product line that attracts your ideal customers. Is there any specific craft you're into?

    • @TheBullishWriter
      @TheBullishWriter ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CreativeHiveCo I feel like I have a talent for a wide range of craft projects, but lack the confidence to make a business out of it. I’m great with cricut projects. For example I recently created a Disney count down frame, but of course the branding isn’t original. Maybe that’s where I lack :/. Originality.

      With regards to famous characters or movies like Disney ones, there are certainly risks dealing with those due to copyright/trademark concerns.
