Some good advice! I've been there 3 times, and I still love it! The second time was opening day, but it was my birthday a present to myself. The Prades are really cool, but the crowds are vast. We were quite lucky to get seats on Saturday in the Hacker Festzelt and my German friends helped us all get seats on Sunday in the Schottenhammel Festzelt. Over 1 million of our best friends were present on opening weekend
I love your videos. I’ve watched most of them. The Oktoberfest is cool but I prefer the Cannstatter fest better only because of less tourists and more locals.
Went on a Thursday - got there around noon-ish and you'd have to ask my wife when we left cause the lights were out for me. We rented traditional outfits for like $100 USD. Picked them up at 09:00 - 10:00 day of and dropped it off the next AM Stayed at Leonardo Hotel Munchen City West - like 2 min walk from a U-Bahn station and significantly cheaper, quieter
We were chatting with Wills and Rach from Postcard And A Pint recently and they said to check you out, so here we are! This was fascinating. You've just made our bucket list even longer! 😅
Looking forward to your e-mail. It was great fun writing to you. At the moment I am in Regensburg and I wanted to look at some of the castles in the area and wanted to take pics for you, but the relatives have something for me to do every day, so I could only do one castle, but as the family activities normally involve eating and drinking I don't mind that much😅@@NearFromHome
Hey both, it’s been a while but we’ve been looking forward to getting round to watching this for a while. We would love to go to Oktoberfest, and we will before too long!! Those shots are great and who doesn’t love a beer festival. Interesting to learn it originated from King Ludwig’s wedding. The German’s know how to party! You’re getting the love for these festivals from us!! Never knew that it actually starts at the end of September. Christmas markets, ah, we miss them. Love those glasses. Great info about where to stay. Great tip about pre booking, or not as the case may be! I think we’d just be jeans and t shirt sort of people. Looking good though both in the lederhosen but wow, how much did they cost? It’s ok, we won’t be visiting Amazon to fit in. Useful to know about card payments and big bags. It looks so good here. The bakery tent looks great. The Olympic ring ride looks mad. That conveyor belt looks great fun. We loved that, hope to catch up with you both in the not too distant future. Cheers x
Great novice guide, I've gone 2 times now and definitely going again in the future. I'd add if your a group of more the 4 people it might be easier to get a table, plus the food and drink is included.
Thanks to you, I can't wait now till it finally starts again ;-) Had my first beer here at a very young age, many more will follow until very old age ;)
As being a local myself I'd say, well done summary of the Oktoberfest. For the rides at the Wies'n I also love watching (often drunk) people on the two old rides, the one with the conveyor belt as well as the Teufelsrad (Devils wheel). Also appreciate that you didn't film inside the devils wheel for obvious reasons if you know what I mean. Love your outfits but you missed something. While women like Camilla mostly wear just flat shoes with their Dirndl, men wear "Haferlschuhe" with their Lederhosn, not normal sneakers nor mountain hike shoes. If you watch your video showing the parade, you will see the men wearing those shoes with their laces tied at the side instead of being tied at the center of the shoes. It's just a small detail...😉
Hi mate, very useful video. I am looking at making a trip over next year for me and 7 mates. After watching you video we will probably come Mon - Thursday and try Tuesday and Wednesday at the event. Do you think we will be able to get tables without reservations for 8 people or should we try book. I have tried reading up on reserving a table but you get very contrasting info online.
Can't wait for my first Oktoberfest this fall! I'm wondering, is there cell service available at the festival on weekdays? I'll be meeting a friend there in the afternoon and hope to coordinate locations
A small group of us are planning a trip for 2026. I currently have us going to the Opening Ceremony. Is this a mistake? Is there anything special about going Opening Day? It would be everyone's first time going to Oktoberfest. We would be in Munich for 4-5 days and can experience the festival multiple times. Thanks for all the info you guys share!
Thanks! I wouldn't go to the grounds for anything on opening day, as we hate how crowded it gets. There is an opening day parade through the city to the Oktoberfest grounds. We have watched the parade before, and the streets were weirdly empty. I can't speak for recent years, this might have changed, but I would check the website for the parade route!
Ben the official Oktoberfest website says you can only book a full table. I’m going next month with just my wife and I. So we shouldn’t need to reserve correct?
If you are going Monday-Thursday, and you are just two people, I would not recommend booking a table! You will be able to find seating. That is correct that there is a minimum amount of people per booked table. It's between 8 and 10.
If you’re renting lederhosen with a view of giving them back unsoiled with variations of your own and others bodily fluid and beer spillage, you are doing it calmer than I do!
For me it's way too much people The one in Stuttgart was better for me But in the end few days ago I seat in augustiner Biergarten munchen for few mass of augustiner and it was perfect to evening
The caps specifically designed by local Mittelstand Bavarian Caps to wear with Trachten? The caps the same company gave me for free because so many Bavarians have commented and emailed that they like them. ok.
@@NearFromHome Not saying it's not a fine cap, just not something that's typically worn by locals, so my statement stands. You can wear whatever you like, obviously, and if other Bavarians like it, great - i don't, sorry, but that really doesn't matter at all. Well at least my comment might do something for the algorithm, the video certainly gives good advice.
Actually, there are "licensed" Oktoberfest - events all over the world, but they have to obey certain rules to call themselves Oktoberfest. Second.... There´s no Flötzinger on the Oktoberfest ;-)
@@NearFromHome I know. By the way: There are so called Regional Express Trains -starting at central Station and carrying people to places outside of Munich within 30 minutes. E.g. Mering or Dorfen. Accomadations there have nearby "normal" price level

Awesome!

Awww we love them!! 🥰 Thanks for watching
My favourite time-spot at the Oktoberfest is the Italian weekend. It os so funny watching the meeting and melting of these two cultures.
Oh yeah! It's so funny!
Also, thank you so much for your email. I am trying to make time to respond along with some others. :)

Nice video, good pointers. I go regularly to Oktoberfest from the US and I agree with everything you said! 🎉
Thanks! Good to hear feedback from an expert. :)

Thanks for watching! Are you going to this year’s Oktoberfest??? We would love to meet up!

Yes! We are actually doing that this year, as we have some family visiting.
If the weather allows, try sitting outside of any of the tents.
We have done that before!

hahaha living the dream!
very very nice 10 out of 10
thank you!
Great video. I learned a lot love it
Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Been hoping you would make this video. Prost!
:D
Very good Oktoberfest / beerfest advice.
Thanks!

Thanks for watching! We both say every year that we will buy nice shoes, but then never do. lol It's just not money we want to spend
Great video Ben I love Munich
short question around what time does the music start in the tents
I would love a video on how to book and what site to use!
:D
Hi guys , missed you.😊❤
:)
We have been SO busy these past two weeks. Unfortunately, not enough time for YT.
I'll be there.
Great insider tips. Last Aug during a meal a friendly local told me about the Wiesn flu that many get after attending. Have you had it?
We have not, but we both got bronchitis at Frühlingsfest this year. .________. Whooping cough was also going around at the fest as well!
@@davesaunders7080 yes. It' s the usual thing after meeting up with so many people. Nothing too serious, but not necessarily fun.

I was looking into this before would renting lederhosen for a couple of days be a good option from a reputable place in Munich?
You know that has never crossed my mind, but I love it! Unfortunately I do not know any rentals off the top of my head.
If you’re renting lederhosen with a view of giving them back unsoiled with variations of your own and others bodily fluid and beer spillage, you are doing it calmer than I do!
The Oktoberfest always ends with the first weekend in October.
yup! So the last few days are in October.
And again. Never ever wash the Lederhose. There are special utilities to clean.
That's a good point!
Ribbon on the left side of the Dirndl? So she is not engaged as your girlfirend/wife?
We are married, I just have not bothered to learn the ribbon meta- Camille
Glad to See camill is Not wearing a Baseball cap!!
what a weird thing to comment
you going this year? its my 2nd one in two years, and already planning '25
Of course! I’ll go a few times definitely.
Love form Pakistan love you guys.
Thanks :) I’m glad you like the video, I hope it was helpful!

The Flötzinger is from Rosenheim Herbstfest!

I'm not about to work 25+ hours on a video for nobody to watch it.
