You wouldn’t believe how these social media influencers impact kids. I’m a teacher and middle schoolers want to be just like these people. It’s sickening.
@@Blackandwhitecat-u9v They don’t perceive influencers as silly. They are still learning to evaluate information that they see online. Parents still have influence, but media and friends have a huge impact during the teen years. Most parents do have conversations with their kids about media. I do, and my kids are in their 20s.
@@Blackandwhitecat-u9v regardless of the relationship with the parents, kids grow up to start looking at the people around them, their peers and people on the internet. Kids still start to form their own opinions and have their own desires, and they all want to fit in
I just don't get how she's so obsessed with healthy foods and won't eat anything "bad" but has no problem injecting fillers, botox (which is litterally a toxin) and has breast implants. I was shocked when I found out she's only 23 years old. I have no problem with plastic surgery but it does kinda make her look like a hypocrite
Those things don't make you unhealthy though, so it's not hypocrisy. I don't agree with how she views food but I think this is a little short sighted Edit: no matter how she decides to eat or what she publishes on her platform, it doesn't necessitate commenting on her age and looks in such a negative way like this, it's unkind
@@mirensummers7633 your comment is disingenuous because OP was clearly talking about her obsession with what she puts in her body. Breast implants are particularly bad.
@@yeshummingbird you probably feel sick from ketchup because of the sugar in it while mustard does not contain sugar. What doesn’t make sense is her logic of the ketchup with agave doesn’t give her that effect when agave is still sugar. It’s definitely psychological for her.
Daisy’s audience is young and impressionable, while I like that she acknowledges that everyone should get their blood tested-she also is endorsing a lifestyle that is unhealthy, expensive, and unachievable for the everyday person. I hope young girls don’t take her as inspiration but it’s hard to not because they idolize influencers who have this kind of content. I hope that she watches your video and take feedback.
its true, but i feel like that little comment about getting blood tested would be overlooked because of the amount of information she is bombarding her audience with. i feel like people are going to be too focused taking notes on "bad" and "good" ingredients/foods.
I'm not sure it's expensive: she eats practically nothing. One pack of sliced cheese, a single punnet of raspberries, a single punnet of blueberries, one mango, and two packs of those sausages would be almost 33% of what she ate in a week.
The ketchup part made me a bit sad for Daisy, feeling sick from eating a “bad ingredient”, especially a different sweetener, sounds like a 100% psychological reaction
I could see that when comparing agave to corn syrup, but I'm not so sure about dyes? My hubby and I think we get headaches from certain dyes, but then again, we'd never flat out say dyes are bad for everyone... it's just something we try to pay attention to...
I don’t know when you’re not used to eating those things it can make you feel sick. I barely eat any refined sugars so when I do I get headaches. If it eat tomato sauce (ketchup) I feel sick and get heartburn. Some people are just more sensitive to foods that we are generally not designed to eat
Not true. Some people don’t react well to sugar. It is a sweetener which is not the healthiest for us. Some people remove it and feel fine. Please stop spreading misinformation and telling people it’s all in their head.
@@ellylilly8836 as if that's caused by "inflammatory oils" smdh inflammation in autoimmune diseases is serious and complex and not caused by certain food products 🤦🏻♀️ the inflammation this girl in the video speaks about is imaginary and laughable
I don’t have an autoimmune disease, but I have family members who do. So sorry it is something you have to deal with. Whenever I hear “inflammation “ online, I feel like a lot of people use it as a code word for extra weight….Jaclyn Hill is the worst about that!
Daisy is the exact type of influencer I used to follow when I was deep in orthorexia. Now that I’m studying biology for my degree, it seems insane that I ever bought into the health claims she’s making.

I eat fairly low calorie, high protein, and weight lift 5x/week. You know what my body looks like? An ice cream cone. A very muscular upper body with very tiny legs, narrow hips and no glutes at all. Why? Because GENETICS. These “hourglass figure” claims are absurd. Among many other ridiculous things in her video lol.
This is how my ed started. Hearing things like ‘ketchup makes me feel gross’ or ‘I can eat if I burn it off’ hits a bit too close to home. So grateful for videos like these🙏🏻

Thanks to your videos I was able to spread some knowledge about how the crash diet set my friend up for failure, and reassured her that our bodies can’t make energy effectively without those carbs or fats! Thanks for all you do
My roommate did that in college before spring break. She only ate salads and did an hour of cardio every day. She gained ten pounds of pure fat right before leaving and cried the whole week. It was bad.

I’ve tried the whole “cut out everything bad” diet and it is super hard. And I’ve actually found way more success with portion control instead of specific foods and then weight lifting coupled with it. It’s going super good actually.
Abbey, PLEASE make that whole video about European vs. US food regulations! (Maybe also show how Canada is different from both?) What an interesting topic, and I’d especially like to learn more about it from you.
I too am very intrigued! As a Brit, we always look at food from the USA as "full of crap". Abbey is the first person I've actually heard counteract that. Very interested in the different regulation systems and would love to know why the EU choose to approach it this way compared to the USA. Especially from Abbey, as I trust what she says is based on sound science. The dose makes the poison but what if you eat these types of foods regularly, could that become a poisonous dose? Is that why the EU have a stricter policy? Ofc I am British so I am biased and naturally assume that the EU do it better haha sorry!
As an American who lives in Europe, it's basically equal. I would say that the US has far more variety of different products, so there is more "junk" food due to there being more brands in general. Also, Europe kind of will get scared of anything new. A decade ago everyone became afraid of tapioca due to reports of cancer and it basically shut down all bubble tea places. But in the last few years they've popped up again. I'd just say, Europe doesn't necessarily know anything more. They might have some stricter standards, but also just less likely to accept new things without a lot of testing first. And the public is just as likely to overreact as the American one.
A lot of things that are allowed in USA are banned in EU: Mtn Dew, lots of Dominos ingredients are modified cuz the USA ones are illegal and many many others I am just lazy in looking it up. Food is very different and water quality as well.
I personally absolutely do not care what people do with their bodies and looks but it's always so ironic to me that people will get pretty dangerous things like implants and injections and then care about a little sugar in ketchup.....
I had a friend who was obese, and ate very unhealthy, but she’d always preach about not eating cup of noodles because it’s “bad for you”, but why didn’t she carry this mindset with all the other junk she ate? 😅
Daisy's body is insane in a way I'm glad she's not lying and saying she eats pizza and whatever she wants to get her body like that and on the other it's unhealthy for young girls to think like that. I guess it's a lose lose situation for her
Yeah I think about that with these videos, the catch 22 of the influencer promoting an unhealthy diet - but at least being honest about what they actually eat to be that lean. Unlike “feminist” Em Rata who says she eats pizza and burgers and doesn’t exercise, and just goes for hikes. Like yeah sure that gives you a six pack. 🙄
@@Leanmimicthe point is the creator is anti-so many things but this processed food is somehow ok. It’s the cherry-picking they’re talking about. Not calories.

I know it’s super difficult on everyone, but it’s not your fault, as well as it’s not her’s. Wishing you both the best
Good lord… she eats exactly how I did when my orthorexia and fear of calories were both at their worst. All very clean, no oils, ESPECIALLY that low calorie but high protein vegetable soup (that was a staple on days I felt especially uncomfortable with food) and the fixation on all macros, protein being the only “safe” macro. Goodness I hope she’s okay. Also I’m not calling Daisy a liar about the ketchup but it seems strange to me that she’d not feel good after eating something that you usually only eat like, a tablespoon or two of. It could be psychosomatic if she believes that the ingredients are “bad”. Or just guilt/a feeling of impurity.
I’m absolutely amazed at how strong her body is in her exercise videos. Idk how anyone could do the workouts she does with that little amount of food/calories
Too good to be true? "What I eat in a day" hits me more as choosing the lowest calorie options that she eats on a regular basis for each meal. So her lowest calorie breakfast choice, lowest lunch, lowest dinner, and then not showing or eating that day any snacks. If I take Monday's breakfast, Tuesday's lunch, and Thursday's dinner and skip any snacks I can end up with 1200 calories too even though normally I'm at 1800. This reminds me of the guy who "ate nothing for years and survived on air". Riiiigght.
i had restrictive habits and I could exercise a lot more back then than I do now when I have a healthy relationship with food. The human body is capable of far more than you think with enough motivation, in some cases the motivation coming from body dysmorphia and self esteem issues.
I still 100% prefer the hazard approach, might be because I've always lived in Europe. I think it triggers EDs a lot less, especially orthorexia, because if you know your food has already been meticulously regulated, you're naturally less inclined to hyper-check all the ingredients yourself. I've always taken it for granted that I could trust the food I ate, but thinking back about it, I'm grateful for that
As someone who lives in Europe, I can say we have plenty of stuff over here that’s questionable. Just like in the US. Daisy obviously has a right to prefer a certain product, but in general, there’s not too much of a difference if you’re being mindful anyways
Same! The only major benefit I see is that the EU regulates supplements way more (or at least my country does), but would be interesting to learn more about this
The US has way less regulations though and they can put chemicals that makes you want to eat more into food. So to be honest I can understand why so many people are obese over there.
@@depressedcockroach4045 ppl are obese here because our nutritional education isn’t highly accessible and controlled by the food industry.also most of the unhealthy foods you see pushed have better options sitting right next to them in grocery stores. Plus things like food deserts exist here where in lower income communities they won’t put a grocery store but load it with fast food options and won’t have a grocery store for several towns and cities over. These communities are also less likely to have people who have cars to get to the far away grocery stores and often work more than 1 job making them more likely to choose to eat fast food due to its accessibility. Trust me as someone who grew up with parents who were athletes it’s easy to be healthy here when you have access and knowledge but there’s a lot of intentional choices made by higher powers that makes healthy eating not accessible for everyone.

All of this extremely low calorie intake is a terrible idea. I know, I did this in my 20s. I have pcos. It wasn’t until I started tracking my meals and watched what really helped me with my weight that I found out I needed to eat a lot more than 1200 stupid calories. If I eat less than 1600 per day my body temperature goes down ( I feel very cold) and I feel exhausted all the time.
It scares me to think how just a few years ago I was eating 1300 calories a day... Like the amount I would need at a minimum if I was in a coma :/ I’m so glad I am no longer bound to food fear! I’m now eating about 2200+ calories (this probably varies day to day because I don’t actually track my caloric intake). My health has changed drastically, I am so much healthier now and I have maintained my weight at the lower end of a healthy BMI. I’m so thankful to no longer be bound by the chains of caloric restriction!
Can I ask how tall are you? I also have PCOS and can swing between eating 1200 calories to 1600 calories a day and don't really lose any weight, and I'm 4 ft 11. Idk if I'm eating the right amount or if I'm eating too much/too little.

Please do a video about food in the U.S. that is banned in the EU. I see so many tiktoks about it with conflicting information. I also think some creators use this to scare people into buying "clean" products
i would love for you to go through us vs eu vs canada even in another video!! unless you have and i missed it NOT THE ALKALIZING WATER TOO 😭 i'm laughing so much at our soils not having nutrients too
Daisy has very minimal muscle definition that I think is just emphasized by her tiny frame. The appearance of a big butt has a lot to do with the contrast of small legs and her body shape also accentuates it.
This takes me back to the days where I'd only use "unprocessed" Himalayan sea salt because of the miniscule, barely traceable amount of minerals it provided over regular table salt. But I don't know why it even mattered since I wasn't allowing myself to salt my food the way I wanted to anyway, because salt makes you retain every ounce of water on your body 😱🙄 Thank you, Abbey, you are a gem, and we need you now more than ever. You're not just promoting a healthy, sustainable relationship with food and eating habits, but also conveying the importance of scientific research and expertise in making informed health decisions (or really most decisions).
I hate that people are scared of things like seed oils because of calories etc. I only avoid specifically sunflower and safflower seed oils because they give me acne and also gas when I eat them- if you don’t have that happen you don’t need to avoid them! No food needs to be avoided unless it’s literally moldy or rotten 🤣 i love your channel abbey!! I get excited about all your uploads! 😊 Edit: I’m sitting here eating protein chocolate pancakes while I watch you, feeling the cold autumn vibes right now!!
Seed oils in all the studies have shown that they are bad for you. Companies use them because they are dirt cheap. US food regulations are in general profits over people (to a point). Don't buy into the marketing. Extra virgin olive oil is much higher quality. No you shouldn't be having high fructose corn syrup. While in ketchup it might be ok because you don't much of it, have you seen how much soda people consume? The reason for the insanely high obesity rate in the US is not "social media influencers". It's the lack of exercise and terrible food that is marketed in people's faces all day.
It’s crazy that these days individuals and companies make us think that we need to do and eat all these crazy extravagant things just to ‘be healthy’ when as a species we have been the healthiest historically when we lived the most simple lives and ate the most basic things and most importantly didn’t overthink and obsess over food and ‘health’. Why do we think twice about eating bread or butter or a banana. This is what is unhealthy.
Another reason ingredients in the same brand of a food are different in different countries is because for whatever reason they just use a different recipe. E.g. in the US things often have high fructose corn syrup because corn is such a huge (and subsidised for some reason) crop there, but in other countries like UK and NZ they use other sweeteners like good old sugar. I think they also change them based on what they perceive as the local palette.
So appreciative of the calorie trigger warning, there was a time in my life where hearing about that could have sent me into a spiral. Thanks for being kind and combating dangerous diet culture!
Your videos are my continual reminder that I should never, ever look to influencers like this for advice on how to eat/live. I struggled with an eating disorder through most of teenage years and my early 20s, and I can see how the brain I had back then would have latched onto Daisy's messaging.

I’ve lost 45 lbs this year and I just want to thank you for your help.
Also, THANK YOU for inserting that part about the "Banned in the EU" comment because it's EVERYWHERE and it's just not the full truth. People fail to understand that the thresholds for acceptable levels just aren't the same, that doesn't mean they're banned or even bad. People truly do not seek out their own evidence anymore with peer reviewed studies, they wait for people like Daisy to tell them.
Can you *please* do a video on US vs. EU ingredients? That would be super interesting and also be really helpful cause the “banned in EU” statement gets used a LOT but I’ve yet to see anyone really counter it or even explain it until your short explanation in this video
It's crazy how she thinks that only on booty days she needs carbs you're not going to see muscle growth with only eating high protein/carbs on the days you're training a certain muscle group. It's literally based on your overall diet you have to stay consistent with your macros too.
I love your videos, Abbey, always making me remember what proper eating is! After many years suffering and recovering from an eating disorder, to this day my mind brings me back to "you must eat less" ideas. You help me to go back in track.

This was my first time seeing you make a video like this. And it was VERY HEALING lol I am 41 years old and have probably been on a "diet" off and on for over 30 years. I recently decided to "undiet" myself. Mostly because I wasn't losing weight and because I always felt like a "failure" bc I couldn't keep it up for too long without "falling off ". So here I am, 41, be 42 next month, hitting the gym consistently for over a year now, and still overweight. I am undieting myself. I want to learn how to love myself where I am, and I feel if I just cut myself some slack for once and all. I will eventually heal my relationship with food and feel better too ❤
I’ve been going through a season of “deconstructing” the mental attitude toward physique goals and the obsession I had with having the hour glass shape. I am currently a teen and am very fortunate to have parents who were very strict with my social media use and internet access. Because of this, I have a lot of knowledge of the internet and it’s dangers. Something which unfortunately, a lot of teens and even children now do not have. Everyday, more and more children are given access to the internet. They see people like Daisy Keech online and wonder why they don’t look like her. Many of theses kids are little girls (keep in mind, a lot of them are still going through puberty and some maybe even most haven’t started yet.) So of course they don’t have boobs and a big butt! Some of these girls are 10!! This is why we keep seeing little girls dressing so provocatively these days. This is why the 8 year olds aren’t wearing clothes from “Justice” anymore. After all, they are only trying to be what is normalized on the internet nowadays. So PLEASE parents and guardians, be careful with your child’s or teen’s internet and social media usage.

Yeah I guess that's what most influencers do, they just don't want to admit it's all about looks
only 23!!!!?!?!?
23?? She looks 30 at least!!
Those things don't make you unhealthy though, so it's not hypocrisy. I don't agree with how she views food but I think this is a little short sighted
Edit: no matter how she decides to eat or what she publishes on her platform, it doesn't necessitate commenting on her age and looks in such a negative way like this, it's unkind

Thanks for saying this, it's definitely not realistic for most
The expense is such a huge factor especially since she’s wasting so much money on stuff that doesn’t even do anything. Like the chlorophyll
its true, but i feel like that little comment about getting blood tested would be overlooked because of the amount of information she is bombarding her audience with. i feel like people are going to be too focused taking notes on "bad" and "good" ingredients/foods.
I'm not sure it's expensive: she eats practically nothing.
One pack of sliced cheese, a single punnet of raspberries, a single punnet of blueberries, one mango, and two packs of those sausages would be almost 33% of what she ate in a week.
No
The ketchup part made me a bit sad for Daisy, feeling sick from eating a “bad ingredient”, especially a different sweetener, sounds like a 100% psychological reaction
I could see that when comparing agave to corn syrup, but I'm not so sure about dyes? My hubby and I think we get headaches from certain dyes, but then again, we'd never flat out say dyes are bad for everyone... it's just something we try to pay attention to...
I agree. There’s no way eating one tablespoon of ketchup as a dip is making her feel sick

Same!! I think specifically the difference in approach to GMO foods & the way people obsess over those is super interesting

Edit: I’m sitting here eating protein chocolate pancakes while I watch you, feeling the cold autumn vibes right now!!
Hit the nail on the head there!!
I really hate this trend of taking every supplement on the planet instead of actually eating the foods that have the nutrients you're missing in them
Literally 3.5 secs in : “ I’m gonna stop you right there…”🤣
Another reason ingredients in the same brand of a food are different in different countries is because for whatever reason they just use a different recipe. E.g. in the US things often have high fructose corn syrup because corn is such a huge (and subsidised for some reason) crop there, but in other countries like UK and NZ they use other sweeteners like good old sugar. I think they also change them based on what they perceive as the local palette.
So appreciative of the calorie trigger warning, there was a time in my life where hearing about that could have sent me into a spiral. Thanks for being kind and combating dangerous diet culture!

Hi Abby, I don’t care about the celebrities but your advice and cookbook have made such a difference in my life. You helped me to not fall for all the toxic diet culture stuff that was plaguing me. Now I eat 3 500 calorie meals but I don’t trip too much about the calories I’m just cooking healthy meals and shoot for around 500 calories. I’ve cut out all processed foods.
You never need to earn carbs or calories. SAGE ADVICE!! I needed to hear that.
Can you *please* do a video on US vs. EU ingredients? That would be super interesting and also be really helpful cause the “banned in EU” statement gets used a LOT but I’ve yet to see anyone really counter it or even explain it until your short explanation in this video
There are many videos and articles about it. Bobby Parish also talks about it in some videos.
Our education system has failed us so much….
Almost every statement made me physically cringe
i dont know abbey from before this video. i love you. thank you for making your videos. it is so comforting for my ED. I've never felt this joy.
Just wanting to add in about the chlorophyll drops. I fell into the hype and then did a bunch of research on it for my nutrition class and they don't even contain chlorophyll. RIP
I will eventually heal my relationship with food and feel better too ❤
EU food regulations are way stricter. Things like chlorinated chicken are banned for example.
You are literally the BEST dietitian in the whole world!!💝
“its a fucking dip” LMFAO
I love dip
I appreciate that you show the sources you're citing throughout the video, it's really helpful!
I’ve been going through a season of “deconstructing” the mental attitude toward physique goals and the obsession I had with having the hour glass shape. It is a slippery slope and society says we need to look a certain way but honestly at the end of the day I’ve been working to change my mental attitude and using food and exercise for my mental health… I feel so bad bc I bet she actually believes this way. So sad.
The information that Daisy suggests and says is what got me orthorexic for years. I actually recently just had a realization that i was back in it. Its like i didnt associate it that i was back into my orthorexia. Now i actually let myself eat a hot dog or a bunch of pasta. I love this video! Thank you for spreading this information!
Please make a video regarding the discourse of the same exact European food being healthier than the US. I’ve seen tons of tik toks saying that people lost 30 pounds eating the same exact foods, and I got a very weird feeling from it. Please make a video on it!
I'm wondering if it actually has to do with commonly visited European locations to be cities that favor walking as a mode of transportation
@@mahmeme that’s EXACTLY what I was thinking. The United States unfortunately built the country based around cars, not walking, unlike European countries. I think you’re right.
Daisy Keech: "omg like eating generic ketchup makes me feel totally gross and sick after"
Also Daisy Keech: has a chest full of silicone and a face full of fillers.
I love when influencers are so concerned about their food, yet get filler and botox
Dear Abbey, thank you for making these videos. I actually get a little emotional from them as i recovered and are still continuing to recover from an eating disorder. Your videos help me a lot to get a more healthy view on eating and my body. We need more of these positive and healthy informative videos. Thank you, thank you.
Abby. Your are the best. Tell it like it is. Too many people think this is the way we should eat. Her body is saying “feed me”. She is tired because of the low amount of kcals. Take care and keep up the great videos.
Thank you for explaining the difference between the “hazard” and “risk” food ban system. I never understood why the EU and the USA banned different things but now I do!
I’d like to see what you think about Hitomi in general with her diet but also her tendency to ‘cleanse’ her body??!
God bless you Abbey, as the only non-vegan TH-camr I follow ('cause science and compassion....) I respect your opinions 100%, unlike other vegans I follow. As a, barely, survivor of orthorexia and anorexia I can understand your resistance to going vegan.I know you know it can be a perfectly balanced diet at any age (w/supplements) as long as you don't have a ton of allergies or food intolerances. I do turn away when animal products are showed because they gross me out but I know not everyone can be 100% vegan and your gentle nutrition tips are always on point. Never reached out to you before because of "ethical" issues but you rock as a human being, woman, mother, dietitian and "positive influencer???". Questioning the "influencer' adjective, not the positive.Thank you and you team for all the hard work and fun edditing. Not that you need it. You are a blast on your own!!! Much Love and Peace from Upstate NY
Veganism is about ethnics, not health or diet bs. If you went plant-based for health reasons you're not a vegan.
Good grief, does it ever end... Your comment on the vegetables was so spot on. Thank you for another great video!
Thank you for posting these videos. For any young girls or boys watching these influencers my advice would be, never skip a meal. It isn’t worth it. You are so perfect the way you are!
I’ve been off social media for a long time and this has been my way to heal my soul. The constant pressure of what we should eat, how we should look broke me.
Your content always amazes me. I love how you use real, peer-reviewed research to back up your claims!
love watching your videos while on my morning walks :)
the way she says kefir is almost as bad as how abbey says bagels🤣❤️
side note, i much prefer these videos than some of the others you have done more recently and the comments on these videos seem a lot more positive. think it’s worth mentioning!
Thanks for the feedback! Also I can't say bagel any other way haha
@@AbbeysKitchen we love it, it’s iconic queen❤️
I love your channel so much! 😂 you make such great entertaining and educational content!
I don't watch Daisy's channel but from these clips she seems so low energy and sleepy and almost robotic sounding. Maybe that's just how she comes off on camera or it was an off day, but I can't help but think that the low calorie intake is part of it.
If I get tired I know it’s because I need to eat or I didn’t eat enough. I always think about that first before I have more caffeine
I listen to Abbey Sharpe in the background while I work to remind myself of the true things in life. You're better than NPR.
Thank you for reviewing this. Your review is a breath of fresh air.
Also Kangen, her water purifier, is an MLM!!
6:05 “Obsessing over what sweetener is in your ketchup”…. She just very briefly mentioned it, there was no ramble or obsession
Holy crap. These are the exact types of videos I would have followed religiously when I was younger (12 - 18). Thank god I know better now but I feel bad for the little girls who watch these.
