man this clip is so genius in its way, the fact that Amy never touches the ground and wears her natural hair to represent a ghost in this clip is amazing
I saw this version of this song (it's the "band version" - the regular album version didn't have the heavy instrumental but was instead more piano/violin like the rest of the song) live in Atlanta, and it was _absolutely amazing._ It started with just Amy and a keyboard, with the rest of the band creeping into position as she sang the bridge to the instrumental. They then crushed the instrumental with the hardest, nastiest, most brutally poignant thirty-ish seconds of audio imaginable, and faded back to just Amy and a keyboard to sing out the rest. The whole crowd remained silent for a couple seconds after Amy finished. Thousands of people just stopped and had a moment.
My girlfriend lost one of her closest friend to suicide a while back and they played this at her funeral. Seriously don’t ever think about doing it. Please.
I totally understand your point that this song would just melt the room, and turn people into puddles.. However, I don't mean to sound like an ass, but why did your gf choose this song when it's obviously about a failed relationship, and not suicide? Just a weird choice for me. Anyways, I've had a few friends that died young, and I drew portraits for their families, since art is the thing I'm good at.
@@Danielson1818 It's not a weird choice. Don't say such mean things. You can interpret this song whatever you want. Some people think about their past relationship while others are thinking about death. And actually this song will played at my funeral as well.
That was exactly my reaction to hearing such a powerful voice, amazing song and sooo deeply honest lyrics for the first time, a long time ago... And I still get goose bumps even today, believe me. Amy is a goddess, do not doubt it. So glad to watch a 'new generation' listen to Evanescence. Thanks for this video. :)
I’ll be upfront, I’m not an Evanescence super fan but I will say this this is a song for the ages, beautifully constructed, haunting lyrics sung to absolute perfection and it’s also awesome to watch the live versions on TH-cam. It’s just a killer song played and sung to a point where it’s impossible to criticise and will forever be timeless.
Bro, I love that song but it reminds me of dark times. So it's a hard listen for me. Not saying it's bad because it's not by any means. Quite the opposite! Its amazing! Its just so emotionally powerful!
I was that kid too when this song came out no other kid knew this song but me LOL and I used to ask myself "they don't watch mtv?" I grew up with MTV and Nickelodeon. Man those good old days in the 90s
Amy's heart is coming through in both her voice and her lyrics. The band coming in at the end is icing on the cake. On the album "Fallen" there's 2 versions of this song, what we just heard and a pure piano instrumental. Awesome stuff, and FYI, everyone who listens to Amy has a musical crush on her... Her hubby is a lucky man.
Monkey Brown You’re right, and in fact, My Immortal isn’t even her song, it was written by Ben Moody, and Amy herself is not a huge fan of it. She disliked it so much for a while that she would even leave it out of concert setlists around 2006-2007... she eventually embraced it again in 2011 only because fan demand was so massive, and finally in 2017 (for Synthesis) she created a new version that’s more orchestral and she’s more satisfied with that one.

This song was about that blonde guy in the band leaving the band. (Don't remember his name) They were very close. I read it in an interview Amy Lee did with kerrang magazine about 12 years ago.

This song always brings tears to my eyes, as it brings back the memories of my 20 year old niece that passed away 4 years ago on February 2 from Sepsis. Amy Lee is a once in a lifetime singer! Just an angelic voice!
I lost my son, my mother, both my grandmothers, and my wifes grondmother in the same year. I had to stand for 5 funerals in one year. This song guts me. Thank you for your reaction. I still play this song sometimes. Just to feel it.
This song was popular when my dad died in 2003. I was holding his hand when he died and then I'd hear it on the radio....and while I know it's about a different type of relationship, but it's so haunting and beautiful and about loss and it reminded me of my dad then . Hearing it today for the first time in years has made me cry again. I miss you dad.
Ben Moody (ex Evanescence member, he is the blond guy in the videoclip) wrote the song for his grandmother who passed away, so it's definitely for that too!
This song is about Amy Lee`s little sister who had passed away. Her dressed in white, not touching the ground and everyone ignoring her is the representation of her being a phantom. How one would feel after losing someone that you love. Like your not apart of this world.
everybody's fool is actually the song about her younger sister, and how amy coped with it. ben moody was the mastermind behind this song, and the majority of the songs from the first albums. amy had actually no big influence when it came to most of the lyrics

Halestorm - i am miss misery, freak like me
All power houses of women's vocals in metal.
Tessa Easton great suggestions!
Yesss!!! I suggested Our solemn hour like over half a year ago!! This needs to happen 😭😭
There is also Within Tempation - raise your banner from their new album which their best album so far.
I Walk Alone is good stuff
Lacuna coil hell ya, love delirium
man this clip is so genius in its way, the fact that Amy never touches the ground and wears her natural hair to represent a ghost in this clip is amazing
Download festival in the uk 2007. Saw the same thing. Amazing
Look up the original version. The bridge is different and I love it!
Seeing this thru your eyes reminds me of why this is my favorite album and favorite singer of all time. Thank you.
I feel like the natural progression next has to be Seether Broken featuring Amy Lee.
Followed by Seether same damn life
Hell yes!
Do it Alex!!!!!! It's amazing! Amy did the string arrangements for Broken and they are superb.
Awww yeah!
Broken is an must
This song is always described as hauting lol , because it is 😊😊😊
My girlfriend lost one of her closest friend to suicide a while back and they played this at her funeral. Seriously don’t ever think about doing it. Please.
Chills
Bless you x
To me, the definition of EVANESCENCE = Eargasm!
Amen!
I love her voice. This is one of my top 3 songs of hers
React to everybody's fool from Evanescence, the video is amazing
Sweet Sacrifice is better imo.
Omgg everybody's fool yesss
My goosebumps always come in as the solo kicks in. :) Happened again just now.
No one knows- by queens of the stone age! Its a bit different but sooo good! ☺️☺️
Yes that's unlearned. That is just natural beauty in a voice. God blessed that woman tremendously.
Fun fact: this video is recorded in Barcelona (Spain) where I live, and every time I go by that place I think about Evanescence
You really need to listen to Within Temptation - Memories, since you loved this one so much.
Bro, I love that song but it reminds me of dark times. So it's a hard listen for me. Not saying it's bad because it's not by any means. Quite the opposite! Its amazing! Its just so emotionally powerful!
i would just be happy if he would do anything from Within Temptation but Jillian gives me goosebumps everytime i hear that song
Somewhere (live version)
I was that kid too when this song came out no other kid knew this song but me LOL and I used to ask myself "they don't watch mtv?" I grew up with MTV and Nickelodeon. Man those good old days in the 90s
We still need Nothing More - Jenny. It's deep and amazing. Plus you already love the singer's voice.
Not about a relationship but about the death of her very young sister, Bonnie, at the age of 3, so sad....
Stef Blt ben wrote this song, not her, she said once
This song was about that blonde guy in the band leaving the band. (Don't remember his name) They were very close. I read it in an interview Amy Lee did with kerrang magazine about 12 years ago.
@@312348 yo I just wanna say massive thanks for letting me and all of us know about synthesis, I absolutely didnt know that this was an album and I've spent the night listening to it and its incredible
matthew argent Right??? Man, that version of The End of the Dream is absolutely gorgeous, sends chills through my whole body. 😍 Unfortunately Synthesis was released on the same day as a certain album called Reputation by this one chick Taylor Swift, so poor beautiful Synthesis hardly got noticed.
This song is a funeral. It's beautiful.
Some recommendations for Evanescence:
Everybody’s Fool
Lithium
Broken, which features Amy Lee, but is by Seether
Tourniquet is fun to play with guitar and adding own shit to it....
Sophia the Phoenix I only have one recommendation when it comes to Evanescence: EVERYTHING.
I love that band.
True Fan Forum No need to tell me man, Evanescence is my favorite band, I saw them live during their 2018 Synthesis tour 🔥❤️
Sophia the Phoenix Lucky! They came to my hometown a couple of times but I never got a chance to see them. I was in college at the time, and did not have much in the way of disposable income. I don't have much regrets, but missing them is a regret.
True Fan Forum I understand, the tickets were a gift from a mentor of mine, I hope someday you’re able to see them live too! I heard they’re going on tour again next year sometime so maybe then! 🖤
If you like Evanescence, listen to more of her songs. Also, try listening to Within Temptation, they are a great band as well and Sharon is amazing
YES! THIS, the song "and we run" featuring xzhibit (yes you read that right alex, another rock band who did a song with a rapper)
the fact that she can hold these tones on pitch with minimal vibrato (for effect, because she uses vibrato as she wants) is absolutely incredible
Слезы и восхищение))
This song always brings tears to my eyes, as it brings back the memories of my 20 year old niece that passed away 4 years ago on February 2 from Sepsis.
Amy Lee is a once in a lifetime singer! Just an angelic voice!
now you need to hear broken by seether featuring amy lee
also an absolutely amazing song
That song is absolutely amazing!
Bring Me To Life
Broken with Seether
Both of those songs are pretty good. And Amy Lee is an accomplished pianist and yes her vocals are amazing!!
He already did broken
I stopped listening to alex when EVERY REQUEST FOR EVENESENCE WAS IGNORED.
THIS IS the 2nd time he fetured Amy.
I dont even think. He knows Amys' name
Alex was also captivated by her physical beauty as well as her singing. 😍
No worries bro, her voice made me fall in love with her back in the day when her first album dropped.
Bring me to life by evanescence is also quite a popular one by them
AFTER THE BURIAL - Lost In The Static
good one
For real
and laurentian ghosts. i really want alex to hear the horn iykwim :P
I feel like every band i suggest is lost in the static lol
Yes ! That song is so dope
@@blueyellowpapaya he wrote it about his grandfather*
This song never fails to send chills down my spine. The vocals and instrumentals combine perfectly with the lyrics. 😢
This song... ALWAYS
.
.
BREAKS MY HEART... I Can't let that Part of me go....
No it's not this song was written by Ben moody the guitarist when he was in high school it has nothing to do with Amy Lee's sister
Evanescence song recommendations:
Literally all of them.
If you want to listen to something a little heavier by Evanescence, try Sweet Sacrifice (one of my favourites), or Lithium.
dont touch YES I LOVE SWEET SACRIFICE!!!!! AND MY IMMORTAL! IMMORTAL IS LIKE A SWEET SONG TO LISTEN TOO AND SOME OF HER SONGS OR LIKE PEACEFUL
In my younger years i nearly never made it without to drop a tear 😂😭
