  • 53 years after thinking one of their comrades died in Vietnam, three veterans reunited in a surprise birthday party in Caldwell. The moment, five decades in the making, was something Ivis Sloane and Jim Mattis never thought would happen.

These stories are so important, if anyone in your family is a veteran listen to their stories if they’re willing to share. Don’t let these memories pass. Were the last generation to have stories from ww2 vets and Korean War vets, it means the world to some of these men to have an outlet to share their experience and it means the world to me to have the honour to sit and listen. It’s an emotional experience and a very human experience. Vietnam veterans are getting older, soon their stories will fade, take the time to listen.

That closeness you have with your brothers in the military cannot be replicated anywhere. Look at how those old, hardened men embrace each other and have no problems showing affection. You don’t care about public perception you just love them so much.
It’s an incredible bond. Man do I miss my buddies

There is NO friendship, like the friendship you acquire in pain, suffering, and war.

God bless them and all those who have served, especially the Vietnam vets who are treated like dogs when they returned.
