Reel mowing, that’s where it’s at! It’s seriously changed how much I love mowing.

I’m excited to see how this works out. I also have tall fescue, but even at 3” HOC I still get a lumpy looking lawn. Years ago I mowed it at 1.8” with a reel because I was told it was KBG. It nearly destroyed the lawn. But I also had a lot to learn about fert and weed control. Your lawn looks great at 2.25”!

And for my next trick, mow with a rotary, while holding a baby... I was waiting for a ground shot, with the baby on her tummy, then the wife comes out. Very funny, but you yard looks amazing. I just bought a time Master about 4 weeks ago, and am about to go mow for the 5th time. I absolutely love it. I had been looking to buy one for two years and am glad I did. I just ran into your videos a few weeks ago. I had been watching mostly LCN, and a little of Ryan K. I'm adding you to my list. Keep up the great work.

Hey man, I am thinking about overseeding my lawn with tall fescue next fall. Can you tell me if Tall Fescue grass feels as nice as KBG?
I have the same problem with my gas powered mower...no matter how sharp the blades are, I can't get a clean cut. I even increased the RPM's and it helped a little but I feel like I just don't have enough power from my residential mower. I will probably be in the market for a new one soon if you have any recommendations. Really thinking about getting a manual reel mower though.

How long should I keep newish sod? Does it help to keep it around 2-3 inches or can I cut it at 1.5? Bout 12-16 weeks old. Tall fescue
Hi, I’m in the uk, do you reckon using a manual reel at 3 inch is too high ?
How hard was it to add that Toro striped? Did you have to drill holes in the handles to attach it?
What tall fescue seed do you use when overseeding?
Good video! I'm leaning towards reel mowing this year also. Just can't decide if I want to take the plunge on an Allett, Swardman, or start off with a California trimmer. I may just buy a manual and try that first. I just don't think it take me long to want a powered one.

I hope, some time you get a chance to try a McLane PH-7 17" manual push reel mower. They aint cheap, but they sure look cool. They look pretty heavy, so imagine a young guy would get a hell of a workout with one. Old guy like me would probably have a stroke halfway through the lawn. 🤣

Omg, that’s hilarious, typical dad move doing what we want to do while parenting. Lol. I curse you, I like the look of the reel mow on the fescue in the front yard. Now I am debating on buying a reel mower and justifying it to my wife. I’ll just blame you, easy fix. 👍🏻

What specific type of grass do you have?
I live in Southwestern PA and I love the look of your yard.
I want to start to overseed my yard and would for my small yard to look that nice.
This is turf type tall fescue. It is a blend made by GCI turf

@@BudgetLawns I did have to overlap quite a bit since the reel sits so far inside the wheel base. Tricky to get used to for sure!
looking at leveling TTTF/KBG either now or later in the fall. I have a small 100 sq ft area I want to try it on. Have you tried leveling your yard? If so, I havent come across a video on it. Thoughts? Central Iowa

Is Tall Fescue the same as the Fescue Sod from Homedepot?
I wish it was that easy to use my reel mower on my uneven lawn, these work great on nice leveled lawns.

Go check out striperman channel that I linked during the vid. He uses a fiskars with a big league lawns stripe kit and it looks awesome. Way better than mine

There are a lot of great lawns with perennial rye. Just depends where you’re at
Try a manual reel mower on Zoysia or Bermuda grass. That is a workout!

Where did you get your reel mower? Also what’s the highest setting it can cut at?
I looked it up. It appears as if the highest it can cut is 3 inches. Do you like the cut at 3 inches? I am very curious to try this out. My lawn is smaller than yours so it seems very relaxing to enjoy a quiet mow that slices smoothly like scissors.

So, what is the real answer? Can you use a reel on tall fescue? I have been using a rotary mower on mine and been planning to cut it at 3-4 inches high. I thought the reel is best for low cuts?
I used a reel on tall fescue in this video! No issue. This reel cuts up to 3"

@@miltonenglish1679 it definitely helps. Wont be as noticeable at the higher cur heights though. but you will get a cleaner cut the more level the lawn is
