I have this problem too it's highly annoying man. Pisses me off. However i updated to driver 457 and there was a rim update i believe as well that sorta fixes the disconnects. Instead of the lights on the wheel freezing with no force feedback now it gets stuck on the last inputs you were doing. In other words if I'm in the middle of a return at about 90° wheel angle it will stay stuck at that angle and then I have to force the wheel back to Center so I can turn it off and turn it back when this happens you can't hit any button even options button. The good thing is that it doesn't happen as often and I can go about half hour to an hour sometimes without an issue whereas before I'd go anywhere from 5 to 10 maybe less than 30 minutes before a disconnect happens and happens often after a wheel reboot.
This also happens with any rim I use. I have formula v2.5x and a custom rim with universal hub and they all disconnectes but it doesn't happen on PC or Xbox. Mainly GT7 although I did have a disconnect or two on ACC but I don't really play many other racing games on PS5 other then GT.
That's nuts! I had problems with my thrustmaster T818 I've now gone with Simagic Alpha Mini and the Neo wheel, absolutely amazing. I would jump ship. You have spent a lot of money though Dam! Update Fantatec have been involved in what seems to be a hostile take over . More info online and TH-cam.
Yep, I’ve seen the news, we just have to wait and see. There is a strong presence on the fanatec forum and they seem to be doing the right things. I will update date soon!!
problem is ps 5 compatibility.. im not sure how much of the lack of feeling is inherent to gt7.. im a bit spoiled with AC on pc as the ffb is great on the g pro and LFM gives me my ranked racing hit.. will say im a relative sim racing noob though.. with out VR i dont think i would have got as competitive as quickly as i have
@awakeandwatching953 it’s a fanatec problem which they have before today blamed on pd for not deploying patches when they should be. Given my time again I would have gone g pro. Still time to change.
I read somewhere that there is a problem when you start to tinker with wheel settings. Some people sorted this by selecting different preset (like 5) it should sort itself. Just something to try.
The presets are blank, and for clarity, I have 4 presets set to my defined exploritory setups, DIGIT gaming, is one of them. Im not actually tinkering, I have hardly moved the sliders at all.
I’ve had my extreme about the same amount of time as you. Firmware 455 out of the box, happy to say I’m not having the disconnection issues, happened only twice and, luckily, not during a race. Have no insight as to why, though. What frustrates me most about this setup is what you mentioned briefly in this video, how does a released ‘officially licensed GT wheel’ not have the wheel option in the game for proper button/dial mapping, etc ? Having to use the DD Pro wheel menu for ‘partial’ mapping is ridiculous. Plus, I do wonder if Full Force (or is theirs True Force) will ever actually be implemented for GT7 🤷♂️🤞 With all that said, I absolutely love the wheel, I got the V3 pedals to go with it too. Made me way more consistent in qualifying and racing. Significantly more than with my previous G29 setup.
Appreciate your input, thank you, I installed the wheel? And straight to 456, had a great couple of hour gaming and the groups started. Of late, like tonight, 2 hour endurance at lemans with 45 minute practice, zero drop outs, it’s better, but in a 1 hour race Friday, it destroyed my race. I have done faith they will fix it. I would be more dismayed if fanatec where to go bust and we just had what we have. I agree the pedals are great!!
Mine only disconnects on full force feedback in endurance races at about the 30 minute mark? Have you tested yours on full ffb for more than an hour @Sarthe_Vader?
Jusr realised you play Grand Turismo on console, so Simagic out of the question. Shane that. I hooe you get a fix soon , very frustrating. Good honest video.
There is something called a sigma cortex for simagic to connect it to playstation. It seems to emulate a direct drive (now) and some people have said it's great. Hopefully more reviews come out because I mostly play on ps as well.
The driver issue is resolved. Whether or not it works straight out of the box depends on the update when it left the factory. Really you want the latest update, because that’s where the fixes are. It’s been fixed since November really. I’m sure you’ll be good but you know if you’ll need a pc. Do what you can bud.
Thanks for a great review. I defiantly won't be using Fanatec until they sort themselves out. Really don't know what way to go with a rig. I wouldn't pay another pennie to them if i was you , with a service like that.
It’s a shame because there product is actually really good, and I know it will come good. I appreciate your comments and thanks for supporting the channel.
damn ur handsome… …the set up is breathtaking. Wondering if your overall lap times are still any faster than the base G29 wheel? My G29 is 3 years old, and I just don’t want to upgrade to new technology that doesn’t work.
WEll, to test they I have created a new subscription and will be testing that on the new wheel V my old wheel times. I thought my G29 would last forever... its a great wheel.
I upgraded to the Extreme from a G29. Everything about it is better, as you’d expect. Did it make me faster, hard to say, maybe a little bit. What it definitely did, though, is make me way more consistent. I’d say, if you have the spare money to get it, I doubt you’ll be disappointed. I feel I have to add, it seems I’ve been a lucky customer, in that I am not experiencing the disconnect issues like many others.
Hello Jim, yes, that's a lot of money for a lot of trouble. Taxes are huge too. In conclusion, I'm very happy with my G29, even if the gearbox has been a bit temperamental with some cars lately. In any case, thank you for your honesty and we can clearly see your disappointment. I hope you'll be able to solve the problems quickly.🙏👍

Thanks for the video. Is there any update on your wheel issue situation and/or Fanatec in general. I really like to buy DD extreme since it seems it’s the best one at the moment for PS5 (when it works). But videos like yours and the Fanatec company situation scares me.
I need to do that update.. Fanatec are currently working on the situation, a survey for owners has been distributed via there forum. They have work around but not all are successful. They are actively working on a fix.
Could it be the QR2 lite it comes with because when QR2 first launched the lite version didn't accommodate 15nm so maybe upgrade that or the wheel, ask other drivers with a different wheel if they've had disconnections before spending more money. 👍
@@WiddowmakerWho Yeah so when you click on the Extreme bundle and scroll down to "features" it says "QR2 Lite" , likewise with the newer officially licenced Clubsport F1 / DD+ it says QR2 which is the "standard" version, then you have the "pro" for the more expensive / heavier wheels, also noted the QR2 Lite is half the weight of the standard and the pro versions for more stability with said heavier wheels! You might want to check out Boosted Medias YT channel where he reviewed QR2 system 7 months ago where there were only adaptors to replace the then current QR1 base side, on Fanatecs own instructions these base side QR2 shafts have to be of a certain tightness - 8nm but without a torque wrench it's not possible to know! So maybe either the pre-installed QR2 base sides are not tight enough or the QR2 Lite isn't sufficiently strong enough and too much movement creating a disconnect ! - just a guess !! You might also want to look at Boosted medias review of the DD Extreme 2 months ago where he has concerns over the claimed 15nm for the QR2 Lite. On that basis, if it was the QR2 Lite causing disconnects it could easily be worked out if people who bought the F1 / DD+ Bundle are NOT getting disconnects then it sways towards the LITE as the issue or the wheel, the only 2 differences between the Extreme and F1 bundle is the QR2 wheel side and the wheel. @80KKA it’s a very good wheel now that it’s fixed. I’ve been told there is no benefit to the v3 pedals as the gr7 s rated drivers use the v1 pedals. I think the fanatec wheel is a lot of money. I still want to try the Logitech wheel. I think you’re good either way. Truly a buyers choice.
I have the original GTdd wheel and base , about 6 months now.. I have had the disconnect issue too, in both GT7 and ACC, highly frustrating, only started happening in the last 3 weeks to a month really, I unplugged the wheel usb from the back of the PS5 and plugged it into the front, I haven’t had a disconnect since 🤷🏻♂️ . No idea if it’s the solution or not, but seems ok at the moment.
@@WiddowmakerWhoTry what the colleague says, this problem happened to me with some differences, in my case it did not turn on the adapter for my wireless headphones nor did it charge the controller in the same front port, on the FOURTH try to disconnect/connect I managed to get power/signal, which Switch to the rear port and zero problems (this happened to me on both PS4 and PS5). I also recommend connecting that cooler to power in another way and not to your PS5, you are making your PS5 work harder to ventilate and at the same time it can cause problems for the rest of the ports. Turn off the dualsense while using the HDD (I think someone already told you this). You have many proposals in the comments to try before buying anything from fanatec.
Ive been telling people the wheel is the problem the other wheels dont have the issues its why i didnt buy the extreme. Now fanatec will work this out with software lster but i know its the wheel. Ive talked to 20 owners with this issue all got other wheels all worked fine. Go shesd order the mclsren gt3 v2 and enjoy! I luckily have a dd+ that works amazingly. I hate that some people are having issues. If you could experience how good the dd+ is it would blow your mind. I just wish fanstec would release a statement letting people know. I mean they have to know the wheek is the issue by now. Again everybody with this problem even other youtubers would put on another wheel and boom no disconnect issues or anything. Also do not update to the 456 beta leave it on 455 out of the box.
@WiddowmakerWho well if 457 is working better that is a good sign they sre trying to fix it which they said they sre. That wheel will get fixed that was a beta no457 so the next real release will fix that wheel. If it changed that's a good sign. But if you get another wheel you can enjoy this base. So i say order the f1 esports v2 wheel or order the mclsren gt3 v2 just make sure to get the qr2. And it's nice you will get the nice alu qr2 with them 😉. You won't have to worry about this disccomection crap. Don't listen to others coming saying oh I don't hsve an issue with the extreme wheel as some may not have as many issues but since you do the new wheel will fix the issue and then you can sit back and wait until the real driver gets released. But the mclsrengt3 v2 and the f2 esports v2 do not need an update. They will work perfectly out of the box.
@reviewforthetube you are absolutely wrong. I have the DD Extreme Bundle and I have 3 Wheels. Every Wheel has the same issue. It's NOT an Extreme Wheel issue. It's the WQR causing issues.
@davidlivaic657 see you sre who I'm talking about. Let him test it I'll even buy his wheel if it doesn't work. Again I know so many people with this issue and new wheels fix it. You can say it's not the issue yet we have multiple youtubers showing what I'm saying is correct. Random callsigns has the extreme using the mclaren gt3 took all of his issues away as one example. Same goes for 2 others who made videos on it. Its all over the forums. Now of course some units are just bad but it's not just cutting off randomly those units just don't turn on. Or turn off super fast not just in game.
@@reviewforthetube6485 What do you mean by saying I can say it's not the issue. Again, the Wheel itself or changing the Wheel DOESN'T fix the disconnect issue. I have the Extreme Rim, the McLaren v2 Rim and the P1 Rim, and NONE of them did fix the issue. So I don't get why you still insist on mentioning that a new Wheel does fix the issue. And I haven't seen a single video nor have I read a single post ANYWHERE that changing the Rim fixes the issue for ANYONE.
That's absolutely insane to spend all that money and for the damn thing not to work. I would be extremely angry and p'd off at Fanatec for this. That is just far too much money to be spending on a so called premium product when there are issues with it. I hope for your sake it works out with this base/wheel.
Everybody remember here before you start your whining about Fanatec, that this is not norm for this wheel base. For the majority of people it works just fine and are happy with it. Hopefully Fanatec customer service wil help you with your problem. There are so many of these wheel bases in the market some are bound to be defective. Your unfortunate experience was not good but , it doesn’t mean the product is horrible.
@licksta611 zero response from fanatec, nothing, not a peep. The only person from fanatec responding to any thing is Maurice on the forum and he’s doing a great job.
Any luck yet mate? I checked my qr2 screws that are supposed to be tightened with 3nm ( I don't own a torque screwdriver ). At first, I tried to copy the guy in the fanatec video to get them as close to 3nm as possible, after checking them again I realised they weren't tight at all and after tightening them up I'm yet to have a disconnect after 2, 1 hour endurance race's on gt7 at full ffb, I done 16 laps on f1 23 and a few on Asseto corsa and no disconnects there either... still more testing to be done, my arms were hurting after testing though 🤣
That wheel is a thick boy 😅 Just a fyi, Thekie25 has been having that sort of issue .. imagine this with an A+ driver on a manufactures or nations lobby 🥶he also has quite a temper. In regards to the purchase of equipment from fanatec, I ordered the mclaren Gt3 V2 wheel april 24th and only today I got the tracking number (it estimates the deliver May 8th). From what I saw on facebook I consider myself lucky if it actualy arrives within this time frame, but I'll definitely not purchase from them again, the answered tickets (which I believe must be thousands) are what frightens me the most, it kinda seems you are on your own once you insert your credit card numbers and click "pay".
The issue isn't the wheel, it's GT7 that's the problem. This is happening with all.fanatec hubs. Mine works fine on acc and dirt rally. Only cuts off when I play gt7
I'm sure they do. Alot of other youtubers have talked about it being an issue for gt7 to resolve. I thought it might have been foxed with the latest gt7 update but think it's still happening.
Has this issue been resolved?.... I haven't read all the comments, but if tightening the QR2, and all the firmware updates haven't resolved this issue.... escalate with Fanatec for a NEW POWER SUPPLY. These strange issues are often caused by insufficient or marginal power supply.
It definitely sucks to spend that kind of money on something that is a really good top notch product, only to not be able to fully enjoy it. I'm sure they will figure out the issue and have a resolution soon once they get past their financial/civil war woes. I would really like to own a Fanatec wheel and pedal setup, but currently waiting to see how things turn out with the company.
I think your opportunity is still there, with Corsair now in to buy Fanatec, give it a couple of months, then take the plunge. THe future looks bright for them.
My Logitech G Pro works awesome. Has it for over a year and no issues.
Nice set up!
I did have the g pro as an option, would have probably been the smart choice.

Have you tried a different wheel with the base ??
I was asking that in the video, do I need to get another wheel? Others are saying in the comments its a GT7 issue now.
Two and a half grand, wow....no thanks, I'll stick with my g29, without all the hassle, good honest review tho. Well done
nothing wrong with the gold old G29. A great wheel and place to start or stay if it delviers what you want.
im on a t300rs gt because i couldnt bare the sound the g29 makes and the price difference in my country is barely noticeable
@rodrigocruz8548 I get it , the g29 is a right rumbler… very noisy
Hopefully it's only a software issue. Fanatec likely rushed it out early before working out the kinks.
THats what I am hoping.
I’m on 457 now, went back to 455 and it was disconnect every 49 minutes. Now it’s occasional and in the middle of races. Frustrating to say the least.
@reviewforthetube you are absolutely wrong.

What do you mean by saying I can say it's not the issue.
Also, Super GT off TH-cam seems to be the only non issue user, and he's using a maclaren gt3 wheel..
Personally, I Dont like or want that wheel. Im more of a round wheel kind a guy.
That's absolutely insane to spend all that money and for the damn thing not to work. I would be extremely angry and p'd off at Fanatec for this. That is just far too much money to be spending on a so called premium product when there are issues with it. I hope for your sake it works out with this base/wheel.
It will come good... but your right, its one hell of a lot of money.
I hadn’t thought to check them. Interesting.
Yeah funny that, I know how he feels.
Have fanatec fixed this with an update yet?
Yes sir, download the latest driver and firmware package and you’re good!
The issue isn't the wheel, it's GT7 that's the problem. This is happening with all.fanatec hubs. Mine works fine on acc and dirt rally. Only cuts off when I play gt7
Interesting to know that in ACC it doesn't cut off for you, wonder if the folks at Poly for GT7 are dropping the ball.
I'm sure they do. Alot of other youtubers have talked about it being an issue for gt7 to resolve. I thought it might have been foxed with the latest gt7 update but think it's still happening.
Yeah I need to try it dont I. I have it for PS and PC
Mine was crashing WRC as well.
Has this issue been resolved?.... I haven't read all the comments, but if tightening the QR2, and all the firmware updates haven't resolved this issue.... escalate with Fanatec for a NEW POWER SUPPLY. These strange issues are often caused by insufficient or marginal power supply.
Can you use another wheel?
I could but I don’t need to. Fanatec have released a new driver / firmware pack which has resolved the issues.
It’s not the wheel it’s the software coming out of gt7 they just fixed the lights but gt7 needs to update there software for the wheel
Yup that’s true!!
Apparently you have to turn off the game controller
Turn off your game controller in the ps? Ok, that’s new, not heard that one yet.
@@WiddowmakerWho Thekie25 streamer has had the same issues with his amongst others, he mentioned it on his stream today.. You're not alone
