@@jevgenkova Speak for yourself. I thought the ending was brilliant actually. And I have no idea what filler you're referring to. There was no more filler in season 6 than there's always been in this show. In fact there's certainly more "filler" in season 3 for example.
@@jevgenkova I do feel s6 would’ve benefited from 2-3 more episodes to just flesh out the plot. It did feel like it was missing that emotional punch and payoff that s5 had
Samiel is not a name associated with the devil so by God Johnson knowing his name it did actually indicate he was more than a mental patient. Might be a cultural reference you weren't aware of... As well as freaking healing someone ha. Great episode.
@@mrmitch7508 Azrael is the angel of death in Christian and especially Muslim traditions, while Samael is the angel of death in Jewish tradition. There is no concept of Azrael in Judaism.

Didn't expect you to watch a 3rd episode this weekend. I hope you watch one or two more for Sunday. My idea of God's plan is think of a maze with one entrance and one exit but numerous paths with all sort of thing you can encounter on the way through the maze. God's plan is you enter the maze and eventually exit the maze but what you experience in between is your choice. You choose the path and to interact with or not the things you encounter along the way.
Nice reaction and discussion! When it comes to free will, I think the problem is that for things to go according to some divine plan, then it must be the case that the universe is deterministic (otherwise it would not be possible to predict ahead of time with any certainty that things would go according to plan). It's hard to see how one has free will in some ultimate sense in a deterministic universe (especially if the creator of the deterministic universe is also manipulating events to make everything go the way it wants them to).
the whole crime of the week aspect was because Fox (who aired the first 3 seasons) wanted to minimize the supernatural part of it and wanted to double down on the procedural part. Once Netflix picks up the show (seasons 4-6) they sort of lay in more with the supernatural aspects.
@@renx81 yeah not huge but it makes the Netflix episodes flow more smoothly if you compare them to the Fox episodes you can see a clear change in pace and over all direction of the show where more of the Celestial stuff takes focus.
In seeing Lucifer and God Johnson walk thru’ the deranged antics of the rioting inmates, the interesting view is that to these all mighty, all powerful, and immortal Gods, this must be how they view all human behaviour !
the idea of freewill vs predestination of determinism is a fascinating theological argument that will drive you insane. the idea of free will is in a lot of ways seemingly incompatible with the idea of god knowing everything that will ever happen. if god knows what choice you will make to the point there is no chance of it being otherwise did you really have the free will to choose.
I like that how you did not hesitate in accepting lucifer/his mother/brother/a demon on earth in human bodies but hesitated accepting GOD in a human body :P

The eternal question raised by a cosmology with a (presumably) all-powerful creator-God: free will, or determinism? It's certainly a question that this show has already raised a few times! Note what Lucifer said in this episode: he likes to pin the responsibility for the bad things that happen to him on God. "Every bad thing that's ever happened to me has been your fault!" But is it? Or is that just Lucifer being unable to take responsibility for his own actions?
not so much the all powerful aspect as the all knowing. if god knows for certain what choice you will make, it was never possible for you to choose otherwise. and if it wasn't possible for you to choose otherwise then you didn't really ever make a choice
Hey lovely ladies why haven't you reacted to Arcane on Netflix the animation most critics are calling a masterpiece and this generation classical story about two sisters.
I paused the post so I could put on my olive shirt, too. ;-) Super-fun episode but, weird fact, Timothy Omundson had a massive stroke just after this episode aired and almost died. Maybe don't play God on television?
When God Johnson called him Samael...the shock on Lucifer's face.
Perfect actor choice in Timothy.
The journey Lucifer takes from beginning to end is amazing. Can’t wait for s5 and 6
S6 was a disappointment. WAY too much filler and not enough of the "mystery angel". Ending was also crap.

The "crime of the week" aspect is still there in the later seasons though. It's just the nature of the procedural genre.
