Portugal's Moorish Castle - A Walk Through

Today, we travel just outside the Portuguese capitol of Lisbon to the village of Sintra. 'Castelo dos Mouros' or Castle of the Moors is an 8th century fortress overlooking the town built by Iberian Muslims sometime in the 8th century. Of the many architectural marvels in Sintra, it is by far the oldest predating the nation of Portugal itself. Because of its breathtaking view, it is easily one of the most photographed sites in Portugal. We of course take our turns doing so, while I recount the long and storied history of the structure.
