I like your video about Nintendo 64 Flashcart - Everdrive 64 X7. Thank you for the information because I too own a N64. I'll catch you on your next video. Thanks again, Madlittlepixel !!!
oh cool *clicks link*.... *spits coffee* wtaf
Where to buy this one at ?
@WoodStrings that's never going to happen
Do you know of any tutorials on setting this up?
The fact that a small finger nail sized sd card can store every N64 game made, is pretty crazy. Try convincing anyone of this, back when the N64 dropped and everyone would just laugh at you. Crazy how far we've come with certain tech.
i just mentioned this with a guy at work a day ago , its literally insane that like 128 , 256 , 512 fuggin terabyte cards exist. its pretty insane .
@GamingSince1998 crazy how a 100gb game from today can't compete with ocarina of time at 5mb or so
@@superlativeb *gigabyte.
Micro SD Cards weren't on. Terabytes yet.
But maybe years from now.
@@kevinm4x man my internet ain’t even good enough to play those mf games lol downloads would take forever, living in a rural area does that. I’d get scared of downloading a game I might like that’s tons of GBs in file size spend days waiting for download and may end up not liking it.
The EverDrive-64 is a big reason why the N64 is so popular this Christmas. It's nice having the entire console's library all on just one cartridge.
I got the X7 and I love it!! It's so fast and the auto region detection is great. The cartridge is so well made and I'm glad I waited until a new version :)
Does it come ready to play with the games on or do you have to download them?
@@eeefox1 you have to download them
@@eeefox1 you have to download them.
I just got my Everdrive X7. Many games I have to load 3 -4 times because of 02 errors or file not found errors. Any Ideas or have you had this issue?
Would nightmare creatures work on my pal console with this x7 ever drive? Game is only USA from what I can see
Just received mine yesterday and had already set the sd card up beforehand so I dived right into it. Loving it!
Where did you download roms?
Man the X7 looks like it is made from Nintendo itself, just amazing!
F-Zero X Expansion Kit and 19XXTE 0.11 (Super Smash Bros. hack) are what I play the most on my EverDrive 64. Those two games alone justify the price for me.
where can I find the anti-aliasing patches?
I got my hands on a X7 about 2 weeks ago and i'm enjoying it. However I've ran into some problems with certain gameshark codes not working. (Like Majora's Mask, the enable code doesn't work. It just doesn't boot with the code on.)
Love my V3, always great quality.
Same here it works great with my ultra HDMI
I never got into the N64. I was always a Sega man (specifically the Sega Genesis). But, now that I'm back into retro gaming I'll eventually start collecting for the N64 and I'll add an Everdrive Cart for it.
I had both. I am personally more fond of the Genesis. Especially the Sonic & Knuckles lock-on.

That battery holder is so nice for very long term maintenance
I love flashcarts but I really wish they would put some work into updating the menus.
Plain text in a box looks super dated.
I'd like to see pictures of box art, screenshots of the games, maybe some menu music, ability to see scans of instruction manuals, cleaned up names, etc.
The mini consoles and front ends like RetroPie have spoiled me.
that would be a nice innovation in the near future
everything except the scans of manuals. Like. what's the point? At least for my mind...not so great with short term memory. I tend to have the manual there beside me for a quick reference. No need to look at the manual, then try to play the game, then forget a button or movement, etc..then have to get out the game to reread it..only to get back into the game and forget it again.
I grew up with these old systems and I still have problems with some games I haven't played in a while and that's honestly a problem with my idea of having scans.
I tend to have my cell phone with pdf files either loaded up or downloaded, referring to that as I'm playing the game
@@agonleed3841 - It isn't really about buttons or moves. Manuals in the 8bit to 32bit era often had tons of additional story and artwork in them.
Part of the experience IMO.
@@AlexysRM I agree. But it's so easy to just goolge the pdf AND while it has backstory, it's still a manual, with buttons and moves, and most would use it as such. Just doesn't TRULY matter whether it's on a menu to read within.
From my perspective
Yeah, a basic slideshow menu for game selection would help. Especially if youre setting this up for a child or the less technically inclines.
So, what happens if the battery on the board dies? Do you lose the saves themselves, or does it lose the ability to update saves stored on the SD card so your saves are essentially "frozen" until changing the battery?
Unless the saves could potentially be backed up to the SD card (idk for a fact if you can, just saying hypothetically), then it should be the same result as if the save battery on any cartridge dies; you lose all the data and have to put in a new battery if you wanna save on that cartridge again.
I do hate relying on batteries for game saves. Thanks for the replies guys.
@@codyr.48 I was actually just kidding. I really don't know what would happen if the battery was depleted.
@@codyr.48 Saves are moved to the SD card each time you start the system. The battery is only there hold them in memory until then, whereas V2.5/X5 depend on the console to keep providing power, hence the need to use the reset switch. What you could lose are any saves made since you last booted/reset the system, so just do that if you're expecting a longer break.
Backing up is still never a bad idea, SD cards randomly corrupting isn't exactly unheard of.
Anyway to get back to the X7 menu without having to reset the cartridge?
Is it madre of "unobtanium"?
At first I thought this was a N64 game I had never heard of lol
Nice review, I kind of want this version of N64 everdrive now. Subscribing to your channel after watching this.
Does the NES emulator work with the control stick and D-pad or just one of the two?
I heard the X7 allow you to play a few games that were to "large" for past Versions to handle/process -- Is that True?
You know: Now with the powers of the SD era, It would be impressive if the studio that made the RE2 demo for GBA, can be completed and fit into any 128 Gb SD. A portable terror without space issues.
Can you play games on this Everdrive 64 without an SD card inserted? Is there a library of games in the cartridge itself? This is my first time ever hearing about this and I love my 64
Nice job I was looking into these it helped
Does anyone know if I can get a quality no mercy of use this??? No questionable resets of caws.
Bumping for interest.
@@chrisb6992 huh?
@@4ArchieLee it means I’m bumping (or in this case liking and commenting) your comment in hopes that it gains more visibility and thus increasing its likelihood for an answer because it’s relevant to my interests.
Cant wait till mine comes in the mail. Show my kids whats what on goldeneye and no mercy.
How are you gonna look at those boards next to each other and tell me that not much was changed between the two
Great review I have a 2.5 and am really considering upgrading now!
does it still play ntsc at 30fps and pal at 25fps depending on rom loaded or only water physical unit you are using.
Hi, i got my Everdrive 64 x7 a while ago, now is giving me Error D3. I tried diferents and new MicroSD cards and nothing yet. you might know whats going on? Thanks
i'm content with version 3
Same here. V3 with Smokemonster pack on RGB-modded N64 with Tribute64 and Brawler64 controllers and HD Retrovision component cables going into a Sony PVM 20L5. Nothing more I could want.
yeah, x7 is better if you're on 2.5
How often do you think we will have to replace the batteries?
Less often or equal to a computer bios battery, almost never but maybe once
Super 64 comes with every N64 game preloaded only cost $40. Save ur money
What are you using for video output on this purple 64? It looks beautiful.
I actually didnt use that n64 for the video. That one is RGB modded with a deblur switch, but I used an UltraHDMI modded N64 for video capture.
@@Madlittlepixel Thanks! I am using the Super 64 and It does not look nearly that clear. I'll have to get the UltraHDMI one of these days!
I am new to this, how would I go about putting N64 games on the Ever Drive? Does it somehow connect to your PC and do you go to a particular website to download the roms?
So you would need a micro sd card. You would save all your ROMS on that card. There is a slot on the top of the Ever Drive cartridge that you would put the SD card in. Then, when you launch the cartridge in your N64, you launch the emulator.
Does the N64 EON work with the flash cart and make the games look better?
It would have the same effect as if you had a real cartridge, so yes!
Nice video as per. I'm still more interested in having the Ultra HDMI mod available for anybody who would choose. Getting hold of one of these mods is near impossible.
I have Ultra HDMI mod on mine and honestly, I wouldn't say I am super impressed with it. It does improve the picture slightly, but I wish it had more video filter options to make it even better. You might get similar results doing the RGB mod for it and it might be cheaper anyhow.
@@Trump_Is_Your_President interesting. I actually have the Advanced RGB mod on mine. Now I'm thinking I might just be happy with what I have. Very confused now lol.
@@user-rd5wj2mm8n I don't remember if I did a comparison of Ultra HDMI versus RGB. I recorded this video with Ultra HDMI n64, but that purple N64 in the beginning of the video is a RGB modded n64 with deblur switch. I am happy with the Ultra HDMI bbecause I don't need to use any extra scaler etc. But im gonna check if I did a proper versus video, and if I havent or if its old Ill do a new one.
@@Madlittlepixel you an incredible N64 setup. Well jealous. Anyway, regarding mods, I'm hearing a new variant of Ultra HDMI mod may be nearing. One like the Wii Dual which outputs both digital and analogue. Keep up the great work.
V3 also did auto patching as well you forgot to mention
Just recieved a turquoise ED X7 for my N64 and am gonna try it out. Bought it to mainly play games that are cost prohibitve i.e. Conckurs bad Fur Day. Great review dude.
How long did it take to come in.?
do you need an expansion pak or memory card when you use the everdrive 64x7??
Good question
Where you you get the roms for the sd though?
Everywhere
I got my self the 2.5v of this cartridge when it was new to the market and it's been the best money ever spent but if I did not already have that I wolud definitely get the new one
Same
Do you need a expansion pack for the games that use it?
Yes.
Anybody know if games like Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2 support GBC Pokemon Gameplay through the N64? For example, can I play Crystal on Stadium 2 through Everdrive?
I don't know of any way to emulate the cross-system connectivity those games had. As far as I know that's also an issue with GBA-GCN connectivity in games like Sonic Adventure 2 Battle or Animal Crossing and the e-Reader
Theoretically, since the Everdrive is already meant to run on original hardware, you could probably buy the controller dongle and a GBC copy of Pokemon but I'm sure that's not the answer you wanted
I’ve been contemplating on getting the x7 but I can’t find a site that has the roms. Can someone please help me out ?
check out Vimm's Lair
"wow roms" is a very good site!
Did you find? Lmk if u need
how do we populate the sd card? is there a card we can get that already is?
Can you still just use regular memory cards with the everdrive or does it always just save to micro sd?
Typical, I just recently bought an x3.
Wont change how the games play. There's no difference its just some added features.
does banjo tooie pal work? is there any compatibility list I can check?
I recently received my everdrive x7. but I haven't used it to use as I want since that red screen error comes out and the rom doesn't start. sometimes it doesn't come out and sometimes yes! but the logical thing is that it did not give that error because I have to be rebooting until it wants to start. any solution?
I wish there was a way to load bigger hacks. Did you order the deadpool nes cart?
Where is that one at?
couple more paychecks and ill buy one of these 😎 saw an old video on this but maybe it was an older one? love is back would be cool to see your take on them thought Nintendo ninjas wiped them out.
How do you get so good picture on your n64? My games dont look so sharp.
I just purchased an X7, where can i download games onto my as card? Do you have to buy roms ? Sorry I’m a collector of N64 games but very new to these everdrive systems. And would love to know how to actually do that if anyone can help :)? ❤️
Hmm I'll just make my own for $250, you kidding?
no? 250 is alot of money.. sanni card reader can reflash chinese reproduction cartridges, so if you don't play more than 5 to8 Games it might be possible?
Does the Everdrive x7 come with a micro SD? or do I have to buy one separately?
N64's color is charming, I loved it, enjoy it.
So if i buy this i need to download roms or does it come with all n64 games?
How do you save state with the everdrive 64 X7?
cant get the anti aliasing patches, smokemonster links are dead. can you post them please?
I may pick one up for the patches. I got a ver 2.0 or 2.5 the one that saves after you restart.
Anyone got a link to all those patches in a pack like that or is it in the smoekmonster pack.
The usb port on the V3 is called a mini usb.
Mini B to be correct. :D
So do you need to still use a memory pak to save games that require memory paks?
Yes
This is cool, ive been thinking of getting a n64, guess i waited for the right time to get one especially with with eon hdmi adapter now released.
N64: 40-100 depending on model
Eon adapter: 150
Everdrive: 200
Wowzers!!!! Pricey
@@TheFrenchy82 French RGB modded first models are not so blurry. It can be a nice option if you find one.
Get the Rad2x instead of the EON adapter. Costs less, more versatile and looks better.
quick question is there a specific micro SD card that works or does it not matter?
Does V2, have an updated OS and features like the x7 ?
What's the picture quality like? Does it upscale it in any way or is it still blurry?
What do you mean? The flash cart doesn’t impact the video quality at all, aside from the AA patches.
Anyone have any ideas on why my 2.5 version stopped reading my sd card overnight. I’ve since reformatted and installed a build on it since and it still says its not finding the sd card. The card was brand new as of yesterday along with the ever drive.
What the hell is this pricing?!!?
That's not to mention this model and every other is hard to find this side of the pond in little ol' england
yup pretty much impossible it get in australia as well
Well, it is expansive, but actually it saves your money, because you don't have to buy game cartridges. Also, you probably know that some cartridges for N64 are quite rare and therefore very expansive.
It's expensive buy it or dont
Just curious- if the N64 Everdrive can emulate NES games- is there any reason why it wouldn't be able to emulate SNES games as well?
You have a cold.. I can hear it
Nick Tronson you have updog
Leo what’s updog?
Hi where did you get all those patches and cheat files, i dont need the games but save files also would be nice
D you need the expansion pack to play all games or does everdrive run the games without it?
Games that require the expansion still will need it. The Everdrive just loads games like they normally would if it was the original cart.
@@Madlittlepixel thank you!
Does the everdrive come with pre-installed games for the N64 or do you have to manually add roms?
Does not come preinstalled, they would not be allowed to sell it that way. But its easy enough to setup yourself if you have the roms already.
@@Madlittlepixel That's the problem I don't have the roms seems to be harder to find these days
@@roccohayabusa9701 yes a bit harder to find. But you can find what you need by going to archive.org search for everdrive packs or N64.
Was this a sponsored review or did you pay for the device yourself?
Ill answer your question after you actually watch the video through.
Ahh ok, i stopped when you got to the nes and ips part. You should open with the statement saying it was sent for review though because there are far too many paid/ free reviews on you tube and amazon now. Its great you would purchase it though had you not got the v3.
Could you inform me on something? Is there any way to make games run smoother/better than the original console? Different resolution? Curious about GoldenEye on this.
Nope. If you want that you should use an emulator. If you use the 1964 emulator you can run goldeneye at 4K 60fps with mouse and keyboard/dualstick controller support.
Thanks for the reply. Was there a Mupen version that was overclocked as well? Any idea how that compares to 1964 OC?
where I can change the wallpaper in X7?
Great vid as always, but I have a quick question, did you test the os on the v2?
Dont own a V2. The first I ever purchased was the v3.
Why doesn't it have a way to add box art
Do i still need expansion pak for ever drive or is it build in it
If a game requires expansion ram pak you will still need it. The everdrive just loads the games as theyd originally be ran.
cool video tech talk madlitle pixel
Great product, but if you have V3 there is no purpose and this is why X7 simply replaces the existing V3. So unless you have no clue about PAL or NTSC, everything else is layout tweaks. I personally prefer the cart artwork on V3 with the original Everdrive 64 logo and having an SD card slot instead of microSD.
Why are the smokemonster packs so hard to get
Is this video footage in rgb?
Is there a way to back out of a game using the controller to go back to the menu? Awesome video!
From what I've researched, there is not. You have to reset. No big deal.
I just discovered this thing
Quick question
Do all n64 games run full speed with this?
Yes, it’s not emulation, it’s running on real hardware, so your experience will be bug for bug the same
Perdón, vi el vídeo sin audio así que no se si lo mencionas, ¿se puede jugar Jet Force Gemini y Banjoo-Tooie?
Si, se puede
SD card slot on my Everdrive (1,5 or 2 don't remember) is very poor. This looks like an improvement.
So everyone who purchased a v3 essentially wasted their money if they thought they were getting top of the line. Everdrive will come out with an upgrade to the x7 which will make it obsolete in a year. Don't waste your money on these.
Do you just put roms onto the micro sd and it’ll just work?
Yes
Does the X7 save without having to press RESET?
Yep
So with this new version I can download a save file off the internet, put it into the ED64/SAVE folder location and transfer that to the memory pak/card and 💥BOOM..... all the costumes for Bomberman 64 unlocked?
I been debating on getting one of these.
This looks cool but I am old school. So I buy one of these-how do I load it with games? Im Obviously looking for golden eye first off. Thanks
You need to use a pc and download games from the interwebs and place them on the SD card. Should be a .n64 file
2:35, so i can put NTSC games on the sd card and play them at 60hz on a PAL console?
TheSpiderJem probably not...
Can these only be bought off Amazon? Can you not buy it directly from the website?
Mike351025 just bought it directly from the krikkz everdriveme store and it was $182 total. It said it takes a few days to process and it will send me an email with shipping details.
Did you already order one? If so how long did it take to get to you?
wonder if it would be possible to get a everdrive for the gamecube one day or ps3
Gamecube has a lot of options. One of the best is the GC Loader. With the GC Loader it does replace the disc drive though. I have done videos on it in the past and love it. The newer version they make is just plug and play and doesnt require soldering or anything.
@@Madlittlepixel Installation. Simply tear down the Gamecube unit with screws, swap the DVD Drive with the GC-Loader and reassemble. A 4.5mm gamebit driver is needed to remove the gamecube case. Not exactly plug and play, is it? Not remotely!
This costs like $250 USD in my country. I got something called the ed64 plus for $65 USD and it's been great. Only issue is having to press reset to save, minor inconveniece, otherwise perfect for a quarter of the price.
Im out here still rocking that $60 bootleg ED64 lol. $200 is too much imo
Does that thing handle all game saves properly? read an old thread on some form a long time ago when it first came out that said eprom saves wouldn't work properly any thoughts or experience with this?
@@rikkerdaddy Havent had any issues myself in the year i've had it. Just gotta hold the reset button before you turn off the system for it to record the save. Only real downside, but doesnt take long to adjust to it
@@sebs4238 thanks brother I appreciate it.
Able to get more Emulators ???
Where do i access the roms?
I'd be curious to see if the NES games play better using the Switch NES controller connected to the N64 via the new N64 BT Controller Receiver. It might save me from having to mod my old NES.
