Congratulations on getting the apartment!! That's such great news. I hope things go smoothly the rest of the way, or as smoothly as they ever go. Have you decided on whether or not to drop back to the half marathon yet? I'm sure that you could finish the marathon and have a good time out there, with your experience and the endurance you've built up over so many races. I mean, you did Dopey, right? As you say, it would be a well-supported long run as training for your ultra, even if you don't feel up to a PR attempt. And some of my best races were ones where I went off with very low expectations. But it's your call and I know that you'll choose wisely.
Right now I am leaning towards during the full to be perfectly honest. I think it would be a great workout as i starting training for my ultra. I have been a little under the weather though... I am sure stress has a lot to do with it And yes, we are super excited about the apartment. I cannot wait to take possession and paint and furnish it!!
@@IRunThings That's so exciting! How much of the year do you expect to spend there? All the best for Atlantic City whichever way you decide to go on that.
@largeeddie as much time as we can possibly spend there. Right now, maybe four weeks a year? We believe we can rent it out the rest of the weeks we are not there. I had an awesome 4 miler this morning and to be honest with you I feel like I could PR in the half marathon, so I feel very torn
@@IRunThings Oh, option paralysis, I'm quite familiar with that.😆It's great that you've got that flexibility though, and also great that you're feeling better about running. In this video you had a tough time with 8 miles at marathon pace and now you're looking at 13.1 at a faster pace. That's awesome! It's cooled off quite a bit here this week, starting to feel more like autumn really, and it's changed my outlook a lot too although I feel like I need to dig myself out of a hole at this point. I'm happy to still be able to get out and cover a few miles nevertheless.
@largeeddie cool temperatures help me the most. I slow down tremendously with warm weather. The same fitness and races in the 45s vs 70s and I add almost 3 mins per mile to my pace. It's really bad. I really cannot handle exercising in the heat. 😂. I am feeling better, but I still have no idea what to expect. We'll do the best we can
You should follow your body and heart. If you feel fine with dropping down to the half then do it. You've already put in most of the training for a full but if you don't think you can run as hard as you want to meet your goal you can either drop down to the half and run hard or stay on for the full and go out and have fun. It comes down to what do you want most.
Hi Suzy!!! I hope all will go well for you at the Atlantic City Marathon!!! I know some of the last couple of marathons haven't been ideal. Regardless of the time, I hope you have a positive experience!!! 😊
Downgrade, it's the right thing to do. I just had to cancel a race in late October. I hate to do it, but I am just not there, and have been too tired and injured. Start prepping for the Ultra after your half. Wishing you all the best.
@@IRunThings Oh that's great. Good for you. It's so frustrating, I know. I have not had a year like this in the past and it can be so disappointing. I feel for you. You have been working so hard.
The issue is if you miss a couple of these long runs. But I agree, finishing the mileage just to finish the mileage when you are really whooped is not a good plan
Susie, good luck on the race. I have no idea which option is better for you. I am training for a half marathon in February. I know I’m not ready for a full marathon yet. I’ll get there eventually. Maybe in 2026, I can do a full marathon. 🤞🏻😀❤️🌈🏃🏻♀️
Thanks for giving your opinion Vanessa, even if to say you don't know. You have to be brave these days of all or nothingness to say you don't know which option is best. 😊 Good luck on your half! Which one are you running?
Yes. That's exactly what it means. We are closing and getting the keys in November. The current owner is doing renovations in the house he is moving to and needs a bit of time

Hope by the time you read this message, you have less stress and a new apartment. If it is so, congratulations to you both.❤
We are not signing till November. Hopefully nothing falls through. Thanks 😊

I agree. I am still signed up for the full... The organization would drop me to the half though even kind of last minute so I can play by ear.
You motivate me to get outside and get some miles in. I appreciate you 🙌
Thank you!! The comments and this community motivate me to keep doing it too. 😊

Yeah. The most important thing is having a good experience. Anything else would be icing on the cake

Yeah. It's the wise thing to do. I did have a really good 18 miler after this with 8 at marathon pace. it's been hit or miss this season
@@IRunThings Oh that's great. Good for you.

I “downgraded” my long run today from 16 miles to 8 saving it for tomorrow’s cooler temps. Sometimes doing less just makes sense.

@@IRunThings I am running the Austin half in February. And let us know if we are spelling your name wrong. 😉
I'm excited to learn more about the apartment. Does this mean, you and your husband plan to make more trips to Spain?
Yes. That's exactly what it means. We are closing and getting the keys in November. The current owner is doing renovations in the house he is moving to and needs a bit of time
Don't wear yourself down too much, as you also have the Disney race coming up. Downgrade to the half so you can continue on with good training runs.
Thanks for the advice. The one caveat is this was two weeks ago. I had an awesome long run after this one
I'm in the exact position and don't know what to do. I dont have any races coming up tho
Remind me, are you doing AC as well?
