GREAT WORK!! I know this hobby is daunting and frustrating at times but you're better for it. We're both past the age of youthful exuberance for tackling this type of thing so I'm proud of you. I'm in my 40's so sometimes this hobby just hurts. :) I have a '21 Shelby GT500 and a 69 Chevy Nova. I bought the Shelby because I was tired of wrenching on my Mustangs. Then I bought the Nova because I still wanted a little punishment in my life. :) Again, Great Work.
As someone who has left the world of driving till later in life (im 40 now only passed February this year), yeah should of done it years ago, these videos are realy helpful as im not savvy when it comes to car maintenance at all, the time lapse helps too but yeah rambling now, great video, love the channel
Love it man, as much of a nightmare as this was you done it and you can say you have done it. I hope one day to be able to do this sort of work, its taking the passion for cars to the peak level
At first i was like bruh! Flops?! But then im like if that thing falls on your foot/feet doesn't really matter what kinda shoes you have on does it? Ha Anyway, dear god what a beast. My arms are sore, my body is exhausted & Im frustrated just from watching!
I love that you leave your mistakes in the video. Good to see others struggle with their diy projects as I often do. The fact you had the stones to take this on yourself is inspiring.
That looked so difficult to do. I really enjoyed watching it all and your commentary. You know all this hard work and perseverance might just be paying off. The Corolla has its new engine, the truck has paint on it, and even if the Datsun didn't go to plan, well 2 out of 3 is not bad😀
I can't imagine how difficult and frustrating that was, mate. You deserve a good night at the pub after all that malarky, mate! Massive respect to you!
Great job! The last time I did an engine swap by myself was on an EE92 Corolla hatchback front wheel drive. I was 22 at the time, now I'm 42 and I REFUSE to do what you just did. But CHEERS!
Congrats Nate. I worked on engines (minorly -changed my own alternators, oil, timing belts, filters, spark plugs, etc.) of my & my dad’s cars back in the 90s & early 2000s so I have a good idea of how challenging they can be(!!) but I never swapped out a whole engine! Bravo mate! Much respect. I know it SUCKED & f your flake out mechanic! But I know doing mechanical work that SUCKS & yet finally succeeding is a rewarding/if not angrily-satisfying achievement… so congrats on accomplishing it man. 👍🏼 I finally caved & got a Tesla model 3 in 2022 🤦🏻♂️😂🤷🏻♂️ Working on cars usually kinda sucks, so to be so much more care free without all the components of a traditional combustion engine to worry about them breaking / needing repairs… it is kinda awesome… and the instant, insane acceleration is pretty damn nice too. Have you ever driven a Tesla? (I’m guessing you might dislike them bc they’re rather the opposite to a petrolhead’s bread & butter?), but curious if you have & what your thoughts are on them… Anyhow keep up all the good work, man. Wishing you & little Jasper all the best. 🙏🏼🤟🏼👍🏼
Nate, you're doing a great job with these cars. All that work is going to pay off ... and then, like every car guy, you'll start all over again with another project, just like my uncle and brother do.
I have to admit i know sod all about cars except driving them but I'm always engrossed with your videos Nate even though I've not a clue what your on about half the time :). Keep the great videos going mate
That hose is the Positive Crank-case venitlation hose, wrapped in a covering that protects it from heat. Toxic fumes build up in the crank case due to heat so it is vented back into the intake so that is can be burned in the engine and then mitigated by the exhaust pollution system. This mitigates poison in the environment. One would make sure it has a valve that would allow only positive pressure from the crank case to the intake so that you have best performance. I submit that if you had a proper shop you would enjoy your project more as you would have smooth floors to move things and a lift. Replacing and entire engine is an advanced mechanical project but not impossible. Don't get into a hurry, It's ok.
Good work mate! Wont be long before you are brapping around in it! And as you've probably learnt if you do this again its probably easier to pull the engine and gearbox together, while it makes it ohysically more difficult to remove/fit the engine it allows you to mount the gearbox on the floor which make sit soooo much easier
The aw11 has oil to liquid oil cooler. There’s a coolant pass though cooler that mounts on the bulkhead. The ae86 4age has an air to oil cooler that mounts up in front of the radiator on the core support.
good job! been there many times when you are desperate for help but just gotta suck it up and get it done yourself! you might want to put it in gear and rock the car, just to make sure the clutch is aligned or you'll be doing it all over again 😂
Dismantle it, take some bits off that I can keep as spares, but the core engine itself will go in the scrap. I have no use for it or the space for it. If this new engine blows I'll put a completely different engine in it
The old engine? Because it's not economically viable to do that. I can buy a low mileage secondhand engine for less than it would be to rebuild a new one, I also don't know how to rebuild an engine. So I'd have to pay someone to do it and I'd like to enjoy the car.
Genuinely enjoying your car nonsense channel. Came here after being a long time subscriber to Mr H reviews. We are praying for you dude

Mr. H freaking me out wearing open toe sandals with all that heavy metal around.
Just wanna keep you on your toes and apparently myself too 😂
Safety Sandles 😂
Showing how difficult this was! Keeping it real. Keeping it real.

I liked the intro phrase.
Reminds me of "I know a guy who knows a guy" 😅

Tedious tho it is, a Labor of Love is filled with its own rewards in the doing. I really enjoyed this for my Saturday Morning.
Signs of a bad worker cant be arsed to ring you when there not coming, you got it done good job
Great video, thank you. It's no small thing to do an engine swap all by yourself. I just wish you'd not wear flip flops around heavy items lol.
I love how your doing it in your safety flip flops Nate
u should be proud nate, doin that on ur own is an achievement unlocked 😂

🎉🎉🎉 good going bro. I have done dozens of engines swaps by myself, and it does suck, but you did well.👍🏼👍🏼🤜🏼🤛🏼👏🏼👏🏼

It's always interesting to see all of the different little moving parts.
I live dangerously
@@MrHVlogsMore Ha, as long as you enjoy it, Sir. 😀
Really enjoying this series keep them coming cheers Nate.
A wise move indeed to change that clutch. If you have the engine out, change everything you can afford to change. It will pay you back double.

Oh I completely agree, I really do want a unit to work in!

Damn impressive man. This must have been a nightmare.
I learned a ton! Thank you for the video.
I admire your work mate, looks bloody difficult indeed.

Good work Nate. 👍👍👍
The joys of classic car restoration you did well and was edd China the mechanic
Blurgh. Was no fun
Engine degreaser requires a respirator to use because it takes a lot to cut through engine Grease.
Nice one Nate
Hope it works! 🎉🎉🎉
When ya working on a car,1st thing to do,invest in a Haynes manual book for your engine or car. Takes all guesswork out of things for ALOT of things.
Best of luck🤞🏼👍🏼
Clean with Simple Green
Just out of Idle curiosity what will you do with the old engine
Dismantle it, take some bits off that I can keep as spares, but the core engine itself will go in the scrap. I have no use for it or the space for it. If this new engine blows I'll put a completely different engine in it
Dammmmmm, congrats. At last there it is.
im sorry about your string of luck with the cars man. hopefully this will be the last instance of you getting the shaft.
Your winning.
Absolutely not 😂
All that hard work and aggravation, instantly mitigated by getting the job completed. Bet you slept well after all that. ;)
Still better than working on VW's and Audi's bro.
Everytime i buy an used engine,i do a full breakdown, cleaning, and rebuild.
CLASS!!!
Good content this.
Why did you not do a engine recon ?

@@MrHVlogsMore all good ' well done ''
Good to see you shared your experience ....
Are you running an electric fan or the clutch fan mounted to the water pump?
Electric fans
With all of this money you are spending on tools Nate might I suggest a pair of steel toecap safety boots .
I actually do have some 😅
😂😅i work on all my cars in crocs. You dont need steel toes.haha
hate to see corrosion on an engine. not oiled enough? or what
I actually don't know what you're talking about, timestamp so I see what you're referring to
😮😮😮bro,if i wasnt all the way in texas,i would of worked with ya to help ya,and do it for free.
🎉GUNK is the best engine degreaser.
I found atleast a dozen 4age e gines for sale here in texas.$600-$800 usd. $471-628 british pounds
Yeah they're not super expensive, on eBay they're costly, but from breakers, cheap tbh
