Always loved W.A.S.P. - was also awesome how Johnny Rod was a great fit with Blackie for vocals. Coked out or not, he had energy, charisma and could sing while swinging that bass around. Too bad it had to fall apart. But such is show biz
I was a casual W.A.S.P. fan for many years. This song is the one that made me a huge massive fan of theirs. It is still one of the greatest songs I have ever listened to all these years later.
This is the first time I've seen this footage. I was there at Donington '92. This has to be the best Donington ever because ALL the bands on the bill did really well. This was one of the stand out performances of the day although I seem to remember the sound being a bit dodgy during WASP's set. Thanks for uploading. Great stuff.
I was there too. 18 years old and medal mad. Donington 92 was my first ever concert, W.A.S.P were 2nd band on after Scottish rockers, The Almighty. In a few days time it will be the 30th anniversary of this show. Where does time go?
you look so pure so Raw the energy stopping Jonny's voice is incredible set in it just beautiful and when the song change almost 3:45 oh boy that is when the song get good at least to me of everything that I've seen with this version live this is the best one
I love WASP. I got into them around 1992 with their Crimson Idol album. I then got their earlier albums. Their self titled debut album is absolutely brilliant. Been a fan ever since.
Ahhhhhhh Strap on your six string and feed our machine, “and “he’ll make you scream for the cash machine down in chainsaw chainsaw Charlie’s morgue,” Two of the top ten best metal verses. Same song.
I'm a big Slayer fan, and to me the whole Show No Mercy album sounds like WASP. WASP even had a song called Show No Mercy. The first album didn't get dropped til 1984, but Blackie and the guys had been playing it onstage at least a year before. Slayer lived in Huntington Park near the Sunset Strip in L.A.
I guess they figured it was a better show than the '87 appearance. They didn't trash the gear/stage at the end. It wasn't raining as much, and Johnny Rod was having fun! :) They also recorded it for release as well. I remember BBC radio recorded the '87 appearance for the Friday Rock Show, but Blackie didn't think it was good enough for broadcast!
So much energy! Bad videoquality, bad soundquality but you still have to move your head and your feet to the beat. And now i want a beer. Because of this clip. I'm pumped. ^^ All 4 did an aaawesome job here. A clip that lets you smile although the dentist is maltreating your teeth. Should go to bed now. But fridge comes first.
Was there, best song of the day. Sorry to all the other bands on the bill, but this is still one of my favorites even today in 2021. Stet on drums... wow !!!!
Blackie Lawless the Master! This IS the music industry of America; record companies and producers bleeding artists to their knees!! Blackie knew this from previous experience.
tom richardson nope was an adapter he built for his own and the pedals are in front of him and are linked with pipes and are connected with extensions to each bass drum
@@M1tjakaramazov I just got The Crimson Idol remastered version that came out in 1998 and it has a second CD with bonus songs and live songs from this performance of Donington 1992 and this version of Chainsaw Charlie (Murders In The New Morgue) is on it. It sounds way better than this video version. I just got it yesterday.
Here's a link to the 2-Part Interview with Johnny Rod (Former Bassist of WASP & Original Member of King Kobra) that is now on Metalliville Webzine metalliville.co.uk/bankup/INTERVIEWS%20Folder/Johnny%20Rod.htm More on www.metalliville.co.uk
I remember the late, great Tommy Vance interviewing Blackie Lawless the night before this show. He asked, ‘what’s the main appeal of playing Donington?’ Blackie replied ‘Money, lots of money’. 😆🤣😆
Love the rebel flag guitar, but one thing I have noticed with a couple different Blackie's guitars, the body is upside down, the cutout on the body suppose to be on the bottom
THAT'S a live show! No playback, no overdub, the voice failing, the face sweating, the throat in pain, wrong notes! That's rock'n'roll!
That's It!!!
I just saw them in Monterrey Mexico and they sing the same
2:39 that looks a lot like a pre-recorded bass
@@alessandropieroni9051 you can see how he hammers with his left hand
Johnny Rod! Much missed in WASP, what a brilliant musician, listen to those backing vocals FFS!
Italiano vero!
Fucking awful man. Drunken shouting

I have heard this song hundreds of times the most recent being 10 minutes ago. But when Johnny Rod came in on vocals I got goosebumps
OMG Johnny's backing vocals give me the chills in this 🤘🤘
Johnny Rod a fantastic bassplayer and singer!!👍
classic heavy metal.....the most incredible years of rock....god bless you blackie for this incredible record
I can never get used to seeing Blackie play guitar, dude just looks so iconic playing bass
Right. I like Johnny but Blackie on bass with Randy Piper and Chris Holmes is iconic.
Yeah it’s weird but I don’t care the man just wanted to play guitar in his own band
Crimson Idol is a masterpiece. Got to see WASP in 2008 when they played the entire album.
Johnny Rod a great Singer!!! And a great bassplayer!!!
Great group of rock.... W.A.S.P. i listen from the 80´s... and ever
The drummer is a beast !!! Probably my favorite WASP song.
Frankie banali rip

Johnny Rod was so cool.

I agree, exept when I saw him run across the stage at Hammersmith O, and fall over! :)

Johnny gave it 110% on this one. Go on, my son!!...
Was this the gig where Blackie famously had a serious throat infection and still played anyhow cause he didn't want to let down the crowd?
I like the way they swapped vocals. They did it for a number of years. Was disappointed to hear Live ...In the Raw was just Blackie singing!
Great vid! Seeing Jonny vocals was awesome! However, at 5:31, Blackie was no where near the mich as the vocals rang out. :(
It was Johny singing
Looks like Blackie's doing some Jazzercising in that outfit.

JOHNNY ROD!!!! Almost as cool as Ben Orr...
the line up is different what happened too chris holmes and randy piper? but the performance is pretty good
It's a good effort even though I believe Blackie was sick with flu at the time.
Welcome to the morgue boy!
with out Chris Holmes an Randy piper it's not the same😣🇺🇸✌
Nor is Blackie censoring his own lyrics in recent performances.
Blackie is wasp
Now am ready go to work 🤘
I miss the old lineup nowadays 😕
