To compare this song with the original is to miss the point!! I see this song as a message from Freddie to his friends, saying that no matter what the show should always go on. And that is why this song is so special, it is a final message from a dying man. On this tribute concert the band extended the message to the fans. When Sir Elton John sings this song he tries his best, put his soul on the mic to try to make justice to the greatness of his good friend Freddie Mercury and although it doesn't come close it is his effort that counts! He knows and the band also knows, that there is nobody like Freddie Mercury but The Show Must Go On...
I think people should not compare the singers who performed at that show to Freddie. There will never ever be another Freddie, he was unique, his voice was amazing and of course he sings Queen songs better... But imo all these performers did their best and this tribute concert is to me one of the most memorable concert ever ♥ Thank you Elton John for such a great performance! And thank you Queen of course ♥
yes, it is a tribute to the king of the QUEEN. But we can see both talents. Freddie Mercury was the great and no one can replace him even at close to his voice at death. His voice in this song is mesmerizing , unbeatable, no one can reach those high pitch other than Freddie.
This is a fantastic performance. it's such a shame that Freddie died so early, I can just imagine what he would have sounded like singing this song live in front of 90.000 people somewhere like Wembley Stadium or Estadtio Azteca.
In many ways his death was unfortunately necessary because it brought a light to an otherwise unknown disease, and the awareness of AIDS would not have been mainstream had Freddie not died!
Ever since this concert took place, I have revisited it over and over and each time I do, I feel the same joy and wonderment I did as I watched it for the first time...Freddy will never be forgotten, duplicated or impersonated...end of discussion.
This song at this performance is still so heart breaking to me. We lost Freddie much, much too soon, and the rest of us have to carry on without him. RIP Freddie. You are missed.
It was the first time after the death of Freddie Mercury that I cried when I heard this song. It's fantastic to hear a voice like that of Sir Elton John singing a song that only Freddie sang with the soul and vigor that characterized him.. Well done.
I started listening to Queen when I was about 10 or 11 too, mainly because my dad was such a huge fan and it's stuck with me ever since. Sadly my dad passed away before his time and this was played at his funeral - it totally summed up his way of looking at things considering his battles with the big 'C'. Thanks to him I have a great appreciation of music from well before my time, I'm 26 now and, well, today's music just doesn't come close to the raw passion and talent of the old school!
No one can be like FREDDIE MERCURY.. he is a LEGEND...... and the legend is only one, don't try again to sing that song, no one can sing it like HIM!!!!
Have been to many, many Elton concerts but can`t remember seeing him singing without piano. He was very emotional then. Wish he would sing it again like he did during his World Tour 1992-93. R.I.P FREDDIE
Elton had a great responsability with this song, the greatest ever wrotten by Freddie. I think he couldn't do better, and he was the favourite to sing it, for the friendship with Freddie also. He sang "bohemian rhapsody" too, with Axl Rose...Thanks Elton, I love you!
I cant see the end of this flame. Dudes, friends, druzya, both are great. And Im happy to hear a great song made by a great man. Sory, im from Russia, and just speaking out my feelings....
Wooowwww¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ excelente combinación el talento indiscutible de Queen y de Sir Elton John es un agasajo escuchar esta canción en esta super versión fantástica¡¡¡¡
Such a legendary song. Freddie went down SWINGING with that song. If you're not in 'awe' over that guy, you're flawed. I hope the movie does him justice, because there was no other Freddie. I'm sure he would have loved this. Elton John did great. And fucking Iommi?! Come on man, I can't even.
You know freddie had an impact on EVERYONE...Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) is playing rhythm guitar to Brian May! Nobody can deny the talent Freddie had. Even in his dying days, he gave everything he had and made a lasting anthem like this. Thank you Freddie for everything you gave us. We"ll never stop listening and never forget you! RIP
ESTE FUE UNO DE LOS MEJORES CONCIERTOS DE QUEEN POST-FREDDY M., SIEMPRE ESTARA VIGENTE ESTA MUSICA, SIN DUDA UNA DE LAS MEJORES BANDAS DE LA HISTORIA DE LA MUSICA ROCK
Elton doing a tribute to his friend Freddie { Obvs out of his comfort zone, i.e behind a piano} felt sorry for the Queen boys then... fast forward 20 years they still have careers now and we still love them,,, xx
QUEEN LA MEJOR BANDA DEL MUNDO!! Nadie los podrá remplazar y mucho menos por los que estuvieron en el tributo a la mejor voz del mundo! FREDDIE MERCURY!!
This was fucking powerful. A lot of you were like "it's not like freddie". That's not the point. this beast of a person was honering his best friend...
I think some people are missing the point about this whole concert. It was to pay tribute to Freddie and the Queen back catalogue. It wasn't held to show musical excellence or promote individual egos. Many of the artists confirmed their availability quite late in the day so wasn't that much time for rehearsals.
Asi es la vida, cuando nos rompen el corazón, el shoy debe de seguir, la vida es un show, y tienes que aprender a sonreir por fuera y llorar por dentro¡¡¡¡ es un arte¡
It's so sad that the most incredible artists have died even before I was born...! ='C I'm always listening to Queen and watching videos so, I know it's stupid but, I still get sad when I remember that Freddie is dead. Btw, Elton John is simply amazing!!!
This is NOT Elton John. This was performed by Reginald Kenneth Dwight and Queen. He was mourning the loss of a dear friend, and he dropped the mask, and sang his heart out and bared the pain in his soul to the world. Reginald, I have always been a fan, but this makes me love you all the more.
I have a version of this on a Platinum Collection CD set and its great. Some parts I'm not a fan of. Like where he goes off-beat a little. But I think Freddie would approve.
To compare this song with the original is to miss the point!!

Fabio Xavier the arrangements is different, slow :( i wanted something different
yea but actually Brian may wrote it.. he wrote it for freddie..
I actually think the opposite. Its like sir elton jon is telling fans and the band that even though freddy is dead the show must go on.
Ничтожно исполнение.

After all these years this performance still gives me goosebumps. Elton nailed it! Fantastic tribute.
YES, HE DID! Hputs so much feeling into it. You know "inside his heart was breaking".
Sir Elton John was the only one who could made justice with this song.
I think George Michael could have done it justice as well
hes a legend and the voice is unbelievable on this song along with Freddie Mercury
I recommend searching up Dimash Kudaibergen singing it.
I started to cry :'( this is my fav queen song i just always start to cry when i heard it ;(

This is one of my favourite songs of all time and Elton John did this justice. I can't get enough of it x
Dear God....Tony Iommi rhythm guitar....so enjoys it....great performance
This is a fantastic performance.

And the show hasn't even ended yet. Freddie, you are the biggest inspiration to people everywhere. I hope to see you one day.
Ever since this concert took place, I have revisited it over and over and each time I do, I feel the same joy and wonderment I did as I watched it for the first time...Freddy will never be forgotten, duplicated or impersonated...end of discussion.

Absolutely incredible brother Freddie is smiling from heaven.
nothing can top Freddie Mercury one of the greatest singers of all time

Cried the whole time when they sang this back when Freddie died. Wonderful tribute
Elton had a great responsability with this song, the greatest ever wrotten by Freddie. I think he couldn't do better, and he was the favourite to sing it, for the friendship with Freddie also. He sang "bohemian rhapsody" too, with Axl Rose...Thanks Elton, I love you!
even elton john can't reach freddie greatness when he sang that song !! freddie had a unique voice in music history !!

Que lindo Elton le pone toda su energía aunque se sienta el vacío de mi Freddie... :(
I like how the second verse's key change makes it become the studio version's first verse key
SO MUCH EPICNESS IN THAT STAGE!!!
No shame. A fine version. He has aged a lot and now I don't think he would try or be able it like this anymore. Thanks Elton
Pat Scott You'd be surprised what Elton is capable of.
