Very nice and clean build mate... Ive got a 1976 honda c90 frame and i was going to build something similar but stopped when the price of new parts was going to out weigh the selling price, but seeing what youve done so nicely i might have another go and try and do it on a smaller budget... cheers for the inspiration!
Very inspiring, I got one enjoy these little bikes , there's beginning a little nichè collector market for em out there. Getting popular. Which is cool
Sounds sweet, I did thousands of miles on a C70 Honda, My little Donkey. I used to dream of 125cc power. (Though I did fit a 4-speed gearbox from an SS50, that livened it up a bit)
I love it, i had a similar seat and People still telling me if i seat on a baguette, i love this works on scooters i wish i could build a c90 here on México
I’ve just bought a 1979 Yamaha V50 in New Zealand for £350. It’s pitted but not really bad so I can change the colour... this looks awesome so I might make mine similar. :)
See, this is *exactly* the sort of small bike Yamaha should be building these days ! Small, light, simple, cheap to run. But enough poke to commute and generally tool around locally. But instead they're going to get creamed by Honda's new CT125 Hunter...
For everyone who has a rust problem BEST solution you will ever get. works best on cleaning the exhaust. Ingredients: mix dish soap with water [normal ratio] take a aluminum piece of folie, dip it in the soap water, then use it like a sponge and the rust will rub off like dirt your welcome :]
Saw this pop up on my subscribers list and was about to scroll past. I'm glad I didn't as that lil thing is epic! Don't worry that it hasn't got a loud rumble.....those guys are compensating for something 😂
Hi Danial, I'm from St. Louis, Missouri (US) and am in Illinois now. I have a very original '65 U5 Newport, and it would be great to talk to you about the stuff you did. Really good restoration. You'll be surprised by the originality I've been able to maintain. Stan
Finally a cool bike that isn't pretentious and the usual "flat-saddle-chopped-subframe" hipster piece of crap. But substance over style is what I'd expect from an Aprilia rider :)
You did well with that mate, think you need the same basic skills for customising your bike as you would fora bigger project. Everything in miniature is very cool. Love the wheelie. Fit and finish is pretty good considering what you had to work with and facilities. 👍🏻🏍😎
Hi I am in a similar situation, I have a 1976 v90 that's had a reboar to 100cc its an absolute rotbox and the front wheel won't, move did you have a problem with the brakes on yours ceasing up I wanted to know if it was a common problem
I like what you have done here, especially the neat finish on the headlight/ speedo combo (not sure if Yamaha did this or you). I have a 2001 Honda C90 and might consider doing a rebuild similar to this. One of the tricky bits might be finding a new seat. Where did you get yours? Presumably it was made by a custom shop?
I have a 1981 GL 500 that I would love to have customized, unfortunately, I am not a mechanical person. There are few shops in my area that would do anything like that without charging more than a new bike would cost.
Jeremy McPhail I asked his the same thing! They’re Caterpillar but he’s not sure if they still make them. They’ve been re-soled and new laces so don’t let that throw you off when looking. Failing that I think ‘Danner’ make some similar style. Hope that helps! [Dan]
i know what engine on it. that's 125cc Honda engine, pretty popular engine back than, now you can buy the engine just for $150 USD. that engine have issue with the timing chain, it's wear out quite fast, but yeah you can fill up and go with it wherever you want.
Hate to brake it to you but that's not a scooter. In Greece we call them "ducks". English speaking people call the mopeds. Definitely not a scooter though

What a cool build - first bike, and several more through the years, was Honda Cub 50 - would love to have this type of fun bike. Very cool.
this looks fantastic! well done.
Nice to see some small modest bikes on here ,, great stuff Shane uk 🇬🇧
The v50 was super popular where I'm from. Also the v80 as well as the hi&lo. So cool to see this!
You made a lovely job of restoring that.It looks great and I bet it was a great learning experience too.
That's mint that. Great to see little bikes being given some love. Beautiful job and fun to ride I bet. 👍
love it. people talk so much crap about lil scooters

Well Daniel tell ya what ,it may be little but it sure looks good, and sounds even better
Cracking build I'd love something like that to use around town.

Do it!
Looks great! Brings back memories. Yes, I’m old.
Looks really neat that brilliant, love it , built for purpose. Well done.
I love the modded Cub (and V50) scene. An ideal inner city ride ;)
Honestly love this little thing
Absolutely stunning. I’ll have to take a look with the boys and see if we can find and refurbish a similar build. Thanks for sharing!

One of the best bikes on the internet
Yep, looks brilliant! beauty design.

It's all original. Apart from the engine and the electrical system and the exhaust and the indicators and the switches and the handlebars.
Love it, spirit of true bike building
It must be great fun to ride
Great job and very unique.
Sounds good looks good nice bike !!
Great build
My aunt had one of those. Stock of course. She used to let me use it to ride around town.

I would love to own this bike. It would be perfect for Thai cities. It's so light, I bet it shifts.

Very nice! I got a super cub clone from china work great only thing have trouble with it finding parts!
That seat looks like you've bolted a loaf of bread to your frame
It looks cool though the cut out section of the frame to make room for the motor look a little ruff. And wouldn't it weaken the overall strength??
Nice moped. looks interesting
You can find a ton of this bikes in Greece restored in mint condition and if you want many people even tune them🇬🇷😂😁

Is it possible to ride this bike in the rain with that open air cleaner ? Thanks. greetings from SL.
This is kinda badass.
Nice job
Hello man can you tell me is this a 2 stroke cause the exhaust looks like a 4 stroke.
Its a four
Actually sounds quite good
If I come down where do I park my bike?
Where did the switch did the left hand switch gear come from ?

I have a yamaha v50 would like to restore it with its original engine. Look nice bro.
А резинки на выхлопной трубе не дымятся?????
Like a little cub, but with different factory.
looks like a 80s 90s c50,.. cool bike..

Love this bike.
I have an original one of these do you have any of the original parts that aren't used?
How cool is that!!! OMG 😃
That is one cool bike..
That thing is rad
You can buy all of yamaha v50/v75 OEM sparepart from Indonesia, this motorcycle is so many in here (Indonesia)
The exhaust looks very similar to a PMTuning exhaust I have on my scomadi
Wasn't that originally a two-stroke?

I have a v80 and my dad has a v90. What is the engine you went for?
ace mobile I want to know that too. Lifan goes into a cub but not a straight for on a v
Oor engine I think. Looked on there website and seem pretty good and reasonable price too.
How does he manage to ride this during rainy days without a front mud guard
With that engine you can't call it V50 anymore
B'cuz the V50 on the name refers to the engine which is 50cc
In North America, they honestly don't care as long as the VIN says 50cc.
Excellent
Looks more Honda than Yamaha. Still, a cute build!
That a Lifan 125cc engine in there?
Anyone know what kind of boots he's wearing?

what handlebar is that?
The seat looks like a cartoon loaf of bread.

The seat looks like a piece of bread.
The v50 is a 2 stroke but he has fitted a 4 stroke 125 on to it.i own a yamaha t50 wich is 4 stroke from stoke
It weights 65 kg and you only wheelie it? At 65 kg you can lift it and carry it around with your hands.
Lol an angle grinder to clean the rust of the rims would of loved to seen how difficult that would be of been 🤣
Damn, thats a rare bike tho
In Australia old postie honda bikes come up for sale cheap and guys custom them.
Who would delete the db-killer? ;)

Not a moped either, it hasn't got any pedals.
That has nothing to do with it. Its about engine placement and to a lesser degree about body styling. The Puch DS for example is a moped being the engine is up front, but with the scooter style fairing and with single or dual pedals. Scooters have the engine down in the back.
It has more to do with how your state classifies it. Mine shifts, but it is classified a moped, so no license needed
