Rush has always been the primary source of music in my stereo. I remember the 80s. The music then was some of the best. Rush was definitely in the limelight. Watching you play Red Barchetta was simply awesome. Beat for beat you nailed the entire song. Ill be watching more of your videos and i also subscribed. Wow! We were both on the same plane. I started playing at 13. First Rush album 2112. Played Rush in cover bands in Jr high school and high school. Now at 57 doing it all over again relearning the songs of my youth. It sure is a lot harder now then it was back then. LOL!

To be honest i could have skipped that and simply stayed playing drums and went professional in drumming. I was really starting to learn when i quit. But i stayed practiced up air drumming to Neil though. I built a tama and zildjan kit over the last 5 years. I have my drum room and i play every night after dinner. Ill never put the sticks down again. Its good exercise and I cherish every moment i have playing now that Im older. You start seeing life in a different light. Its good to be alive and have lived during the days the Rush played. Im still pretty sad about Neils passing. His music meant so much to me and still does. And yes he is a hard one to copy after.
I hear ya John. I have been lucky enough to build a studio at my home but I have only been playing once a month for years. I was in some jazz fusion bands for about 10 years. And then onto playing blues. I worked with a working blues band called The Mamas Boys. Great players. Great experience. We did a few albums and I moved on. Burned out giving 4 days a week for 3 years. And now I’d love to play more but my ears are ringing all the time. I finally found some good in ear Shure headphones. They help but I can unfortunately only play a few times a week. A part of getting old. Take care of your ears my friend.
Nice job, and you are one of the few drummers who actually spent your time tuning your drums to sound like Neil's drum kit for this song. Your toms and rotor toms sound great, and most of your cymbals as well, but it was hard to hear your ride cymbal and your hi-hat. Have you ever heard Danial Devost's rendition of Rush Red Barchetta? @@weldonf4081 thanks so much. It took me a while to get the sound I wanted. Trying different mics and pro tools compression made a huge difference.
