Maybe you need to watch it again with kin attention. If you express 5.21 in standard form, you have 5.21 x 10⁰ and the power of 10 which is 0 is the integer part of the logarithm of 5.21.

If you master standard form very well, you can quickly get the power of ten without necessarily expressing the number as standard form.
