Say you wanted to run 2 guitarist, is it possible to have like a 2 button switch for the other guitarist to switch on say an over drive with one button and a delay with the other button, and could you do the 2 button switch from the axe or from one of the expression jacks on the foot controller. Awesome stuff Leon
Sorry for the dumb question, but I don't have an Axe yet. Can someone explain to me further what Leon talks about at 15:00 (modifiers)? Can't you just save the switch status as part of the scene? Why is the modifier needed to turn it on from S1 to S4?
Thanks brother, well done as usual and thanks for sharing!

Leon, I have Ax8 but now I do not know what to do .... This new tool looks like a dream but does it have the same practicality as Ax8? Well, you have to have a foot control to go separately, do not you?
Not having an EQ at the time to play with, I frequently used a wah to dial in on a midrange that sounded/felt good to push the saturation in a similar way, to help keep feedback in the lower harmonics and push the gain/saturation right where it tickled the feedback nicely. Interesting to see the actual frequency in question after all these years, as my foot was not calibrated and labeled.... :D
The channels function looks sick. To have a fender clean channel and a Mesa Recto and Soldano for leads on one Amp block seems awesome...can you blend channels? Maybe channel 2 Mesa and Channel 3 Diezel blend ?
That's funny because I've been thinking "it must be a year I've had this, I should do a one year in review". Loving it, so much firmware development over the last year!
Hi Leon, does amp and cab channels "A B C D" automatically correspond/sync with scenes "1 2 3 4"?? Im a little confused on that. Thank you and Rock On bro!
This is great man. I'm using 2 outputs on my main setup, (1) for my FRFR monitors and (2) for the mixer... I did this cuz I need extra volumen for Solos/Lead and when doing that on my FRFR blow my hears, with this setup same volume is set for all my scenes, and for Solos/Lead the extra power is reflected only in Output2 by just adding a filter with +5 level and it is working fine. Again, this is just one way that solved my problem.
This might be a silly question but if you’re using the axe fx as an audio interface does the axe edit software work while monitoring/recording through the daw? I seem to recall some issue I saw in a video (maybe on the ax8) where you couldn’t use axe edit and record simultaneously but I might be misremembering
It would be nice to have a desktop midi controller with knobs to give some tangibility and some visual feedback for settings like the AX-8 or Mooer Preamp Live or Positive Grid Bias Mini Guitar & Bass Amps or Softube Console 1 MkII. An AX-Pocket audio interface with built in DSP and record to micro sd card with midi I/O to add desktop and/or foot controllers to expand functionality for live or studio usage would be cool. Like combining a Boss Micro BR-80, Line 6 HX Stomp, Zoom Handy Recorder, Two Notes Torpedo CAB M, Universal Audio Satellite in one device. A GUI using ios, android or a web browser (like Soundcraft Ui, QSC Touchmix, Motu AVB, Mod Devices, etc) to use with a touch screen device might be pushing it. I guess anything is possible though.
I’m gonna watch this video when I wake tomorrow! I’m dying to know though...is there a considerable difference in sound quality compared to AX8? I’m not a gigging musician anymore. It’s really more of a hobby now. I’ve had my AX8 since the beginning of the year and really love it. Just wondering if it’s worth selling to get the Axe FX 3. I haven’t ran out of CPU yet on the AX8 so that’s not that much of a concern yet but I’m sure as they keep working on AXe FX 3 features will her left out of AX8. What say you Todd? Thanks again for all the info on your channel...I’ve learned 80% of what I’ve learned on AX8 here. Bravo sir. Keep up the good work
Hi Leon, new sub here. Do you use FRFR's behind you in your live set-up?? I like feeling like/having a speaker cab behind me when doing shows. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I know there are some legit speaker cabs out there that are loaded with FRFR's. Thank you so much and Rock On brother!!
i have a Matrix GT800FX and a Mesa 212 that I drag out from time to time, but most of the time it's just the house monitors. The band is moving to IEM at the moment so it will be even easier to setup and tear down. The Atomic CLR and Mission gemini are great FRFR solutions if you want on stage thump though.
I just don't get Mark graphic eq settings. You make less bass on the power amp and ADD 80 HZ in graphic EQ. WTF? Why is that? BTW 80 HZ is boomy for guitar. And you cranked it. I don't get it. And wtf with mid scooping? Mids is SOUND of guitar. Scooping the mids will make you invisible in mix. Someone please explain it to me, because I'm dumb.
It's seemingly counter-intuitive until you understand that the Mark series amps have a circuit design that is fundamentally different to something like a Marshall and other derivatives. In a Mark the bass/middle/treble are pre gain while the graphic EQ is post gain. Their placement is massively important. You use B/M/T to dial in the "feel" of the distortion and you use the graphic to sculpt the overall "tone". These amps have a huge amount of midrange so that 750 slider lets you dial in your mid range in the context of whatever band mix you're presented with. I gig and record with very similar settings and have no problem getting the guitar to sit.

I own both the Kemper & axefx II...Live settings/playing I like the Kemper with direct amp profile (no cabs or mics) with my personal IRs to the XLRs & the direct/mon out into a tube 2-100 power amp & celestion loaded 412.... & for creating/building tones & recording I like my axefx II...!
Both can do great things and similar tones (in terms of amps at least). Whatever you're comfortable with at the end of the day is what you should use. Some like the tweak-ability of Fractal and some like the more straight forward approach of Kemper.
Don't forget the Kemper looks like a toaster. Kemper is decent, but IMO the Helix and Axe III blow it away in terms of versatility. All 3 are stand alone direct to FOH tone machines, but the black ones are way beyond that. Like Fractal's audiophile grade signal path and Universal Audio Apollo quality 8x8 interface, the ability to play nicely with line and instrument level signals ANYWHERE or everywhere (4/5CM) in a signal chain, the gorgeous HD displays and super intuitive UI and software with a PC connected. Its getting to the point of almost too powerful. The Helix LT for $999 is a real nice unit, along with the AX8, either one is more than enough for 99% of ALL guitar players....from 2 chord Charlie down the road with a broken B string to Johnny Guitargod playing football arenas with dimed Soldano SLOs and a fake wall of 412 cabs. In a nutshell, its AMAZING how one little box can beat or at least be equal to a 600 pound monster refrigerator rack with $30k in gear..(and ground loops, noise, WAY to many fail points, a nightmare to program, and pray that it works, because troubleshooting that thing SUCKS), a world class $2500 pedal board with ZERO jacks and cables, a Bob Bradshaw worthy switching system (with a RJM Rack/Amp Gizmo added) to have complete control over everything. Its a great time for tone chasing.
Jesus dude. My wife just got over my spending $1500 on AX8. Now I gotta have one of these freaking things. Thanks Leon
Just explain to her how much it would cost if you bought all of the amp, effect and cab models sitting in the Axe-Fx; it saves you money :p
Source?
Thanks Leon, as a 2xl guy it's pretty cool to see some of then new stuff in action. That chorus is great.
Let the games begin! Your unofficial official tutorials are awesome
Awesome to have you as an Axe-Fx III mentor. Great content!
This video is super helpful Leon, will give me a flying start on my III coming in a few days!
Howdy again! Is there a noticeable upgrade in tone? Seriously thinking about pulling the trigger. Its considerably more money than the Axe II....🤔
Nope....its $2499, which was the normal price for AXE FX IIs, unless they go on holiday sale or clearance like the IIXL+ is right now.
Sorry for the dumb question, but I don't have an Axe yet. Can someone explain to me further what Leon talks about at 15:00 (modifiers)? Can't you just save the switch status as part of the scene? Why is the modifier needed to turn it on from S1 to S4?
But can it run Crysis??
Thanks brother, well done as usual and thanks for sharing!

yes. Just use two amp blocks for that and assign each one's respective channel to what you want in any given scene.
I really love my helix but the fractal units are insane.
Oh - it's the one year anniversary for your unboxing this week .. How is the unit holding up?
That's funny because I've been thinking "it must be a year I've had this, I should do a one year in review". Loving it, so much firmware development over the last year!
Hi Leon, does amp and cab channels "A B C D" automatically correspond/sync with scenes "1 2 3 4"?? Im a little confused on that. Thank you and Rock On bro!
No. You can assign them easily enough but each scene defaults to channel A.
@@LeonTodd Thanks you bro!

Please Babble on...!!! Did you get the FC-6 or FC-12 foot controller with the Axe III...???...Or are going to use midi for now in your live rig...???
The foot pedals arent out yet.
Thanks...!! Just wondered if he's on the waiting list for the FC 6 or FC 12...???
Hi Leon did it take awhile for axe edit to read everything when you first hooked the axe 3 to it?
This might be a silly question but if you’re using the axe fx as an audio interface does the axe edit software work while monitoring/recording through the daw? I seem to recall some issue I saw in a video (maybe on the ax8) where you couldn’t use axe edit and record simultaneously but I might be misremembering
AX8 does not send audio over USB, you need an interface to record.
It would be nice to have a desktop midi controller with knobs to give some tangibility and some visual feedback for settings like the AX-8 or Mooer Preamp Live or Positive Grid Bias Mini Guitar & Bass Amps or Softube Console 1 MkII. Does this thing only plays distortion guitar?
lol no it sounds like anything and everything you can make, even a acoustic if you desire.
I was on the fence about getting an AxeFX or AX8 but your video tutorials have lessened my unease considerably about the product.
Happy to help!
...meaning channel "A" corresponds to scene "1". Channel "B" to scene "2" etc..
I’m gonna watch this video when I wake tomorrow! I’m dying to know though...is there a considerable difference in sound quality compared to AX8? I’m not a gigging musician anymore. I'll do a side by side comparison. The reverbs are definitely more detailed but the amp blocks stack up pretty well.
Hi Leon, new sub here. Do you use FRFR's behind you in your live set-up?? I like feeling like/having a speaker cab behind me when doing shows. Any suggestions would be appreciated. with all those "Scenes" and "Channels" you dont need presets anymore haha,
2:18 how hard was it to not select Atomica high amp? haha
Four dimension choruses? :D
hahaha yes!
My God, I want one. Anybody looking to buy a kidney? I got two anyway.
I like Fractal , but I love the Kemper , more organic , more simple , the best in my opinion .
Does this have a drum 🥁 machine that can produce hundreds of drum beats etc ?? 😨
No, its a dedicated amp modelling and effects processor.
Leon Todd OK ! But WHY NOT ??? A BUILT IN DRUM 🥁 MACHINE ETC 😨😰😰
Still think kemper is way better.
The crucial word here is 'think'. If you've not tried Axe FX 3, then what you said is is pure speculation and at best an unverified opinion.
