Glad to see the enforcement of consistent rules!! So tired of the folks who drag on 3 or 4 “shopping bags” full of extra stuff, in addition to their carry-on bags, then stuff it all in overhead bins! Same with bulky coats! You mentioned sling bags, but they are also asking us to remove fanny packs - an inconvenience, but what’s fair for one is fair for all.
Oh, my, how considerate of you. I need a backpack which holds my pulse oxygen concentrator, my case with my CPAP machine, and a bag for my nighttime continuous oxygen supply. So, that's 3 items without carrying ANY personal bag as they are all for medical equipment.
@@rickbruceroche2038medical equipment is exempt if I understand correctly. A service animal is considered medical equipment also (dog) but that is not an ESA dog. You do have to decl😢that you have medical equipment so they can accommodate you and normally that helps a lot.
Yes, finally. I get frustrated seeing people with bags that need to get checked bring those big bags on board. SW is free bags x2, check the damn bags.
Fantastic! It’s about time to crack down on these all about me people that throw 3 and 4 items into the overhead. Remember , when people are left to their own devices, they seldom do the right thing.
You also need to check the airplane they are flying within the airline. If the airline is flying their smallest plane then that is the rules you need to follow.
If you see how much stuff (mostly women) are bringing, they need to be strict and weighed also the people need to be weighed and be charged appropriately.
How does that work to wear a vest with a lot of pockets or cargo pants and put items in there? I thought when you go through the TSA scanner they want you to take everything out your pockets.
If you wear a "Scotty vest" that has a ton of pockets, fill up those pockets! When you go through TSA , you take off the vest and put it into a bin. YOU, will walk through the scanner with NOTHING (not even a kleenex) in your pockets. I do this all the time and so do many other peopls.
@@virginiawatson6170if you fly back won’t you need your plastic bags again? Flying used to be fun but now days we drive. We work around the planes so we do know what is ging on behind the scenes. It has become too stressful
I have been thinking about my 7 lb service dog and wondered how to deal with that issue. Dealing with Her in the mainland USA we refuse to fly because it is such a hassle so we drive. We want to go by train someday and haven’t figured out how to do that one. I haven’t checked to see about international travel but needing to go potty is the biggest challenge unless I train her to use a human toilet.
@@reneeubry9065 International may be harder than carrying human remains! Many countries have quarantines that may get waived if you have a pound of paper needed to prove shots etc. I’d suggest a cruise ship, depending upon where you want to visit. You can get from Ny to UK nearly weekly. From there, if you can keep from killing yourself, you could drive the rest of Europe. No idea whether rentals from the UK can be taken out of the country, but I’d bet there is a ferry and then in Europe you could use the trains. I believe a ship used either cedar chips or grass for potty. I’d think you might be able to use puppy pads, or something disposable but would work like a litter box, for a train. My brother won’t take his small service dog on an airplane because he doesn’t handle the noises well. He didn’t tell me whether he had to use a carrier, but I’ve seen large dogs sitting at the feet of a passenger a couple of times.
United airlines from and to Durango CO won't let you do carry-on. That way they can charge for your carry-on and then mess up what flight they put your bag on.
Most people don't think about that. A client just returned from Germany last week and said they made her check in her carry on and pay for it for a ridiculous little extra weight. I remind her she could've taken something a bit heavy off and put in her pocket or personal item.
When you consider one person clocks in at 260 lbs body weight such as big hunk military dude and petite woman checks in at 100 lb bodyweight, personal carry ons should not even be questioned … United is the only decent airline btw.
United is a pain in the butt! We were only allowed a personal item I think it was like 16x10x8, had to buy a backpack cuz didn't have one single that fit those dimensions then had to check my small duffle cuz only members can have their massive "carry-on" suitcases.
They had some real bitch gate agents at IAD that were racially biased so being Premier 1K and active military I had them fired, especially when behind the scenes, they let as-Shabaab African nationals bring on 3 oversized wheeled carry ons and two bulging rucksacks. Racism much at C4 IAD 2 months ago … they are gone now and a lot more respectful … no more Chinese lady interdicting medical bags either.
You were explicitly informed of the carry-on limit of one personal item when you purchased a Basic Economy ticket. Buy a ticket at Ecomony fare or higher if you want the additional allowance of a 22x14x9 carry-on bag.
I have a question: What about purchases made at the airport? Are airlines counting snacks and last-minute souvenirs as a personal item if they don't fit into your carry-on bags? I've always been able to bring a bag of items purchased at the airport without any issues. Yesterday, I had a separate bag with a sandwich I bought at the airport and the gate agent for Delta was starting to ask me to consolidate but then said it's should be fine. I don't want to pack hot food from the airport into my carry-on bags with my electronics so I need clarity about whether they would count airport purchases in your carry-on limits?
Another question is the neck pillow ... I only bring that for international flights to protect my neck when I'm sleeping. It doesn't fit into my personal item bag (which is a small tote to avoid using all my leg room) so I'm hoping I won't have to ditch bringing that as it protects me from neck pain during long haul flights.
Simply one carryon. A purse OR small bag Or a blanket Or a neck pillow. Put the blanket in your carry on same for neck pillow etc. when you get to your seat take it out and put your bag in the overhead

A lot of gate checked bags are now picked up at the baggage claim area, not picked up right as you get off of the plane.
I wonder why huh?
That's what I've found, too.
I always fly United over since the name change from continental to United. All over the world. No problem.
When you book a flightvwith low cost airlines theyll cut off baggages allowance to make up for the cost

VERY SOON ALL AIRLINERS WILL HAVE THE VERY SAME RULES AT LEAST THE ONES WHO OPERATE IN EUROPE.
I didn’t think a medicine bag was counted?
It is not (on most airlines) Just be sure to print out the airline's own rules and bring it with you so you can show them their own rules.
