- The WDR BIG BAND feat. Jakob Manz on alto saxophone with "Self Awarness" (K / A: Bob Mintzer). Another guest is Simon Oslender on Hammond organ. Recorded on March 19, 2021 at the WDR Funkhaus / Cologne.
Without a doubt, the pianist, Hammond B3 organist and keyboardist Simon Oslender, who comes from Aachen (including collaborations with Wolfgang Haffner & Bill Evans), and the alto saxophonist Jakob Manz, who comes from Swabia, are among the shooting stars of the German jazz scene. The young musicians released their debut album in 2020. Simon Oslender with "About Time" and Jakob Manz with his project "Natural Energy".
In the music project "Young Cats" under the direction of Jörg Achim Keller, the two musicians are on stage together for the first time. You can listen to groovy jazz music in the style of soul jazz, including new compositions by Bob Mintzer and Simon Oslender. The arrangements in this project were penned by principal conductor Bob Mintzer and Jörg Achim Keller.
