💚 The BERMEYA goat. Asturias, Spain 🐐🐐🐐🐐

The bermeya goat is originally from Asturias. Since ancient times it has been a highly prized goat for its rusticity and good ability to produce kids.
Bermeya goats are slender, with bright red hair and bow-shaped antlers, representative of the ancient aegagrus goat. Some herds also appear in the western area of Asturias with Prisca antlers, probably a consequence of ancient migratory movements.
During the 20th century its census has been reduced until almost disappearing. In the councils of Picos de Europa it has been gradually replaced by the mantrina goat, highly appreciated for its milk production.
Thanks to the efforts of the breed's breeders association (Acriber), the Bermeya goat census is recovering little by little.
